Only bands? So I'm skipping the 60s
>70s (gotta name 4 no shame)
Mothers of Invention
Pink Floyd
King Crimson
Can

>80s
Talk Talk
Pere Ubu
Minutemen

>90s
Opeth
Porcupine Tree
Morphine

>00s
Pain of Salvation
Riverside

?
?
Fugazi

Starting with which year? 1, 100, 1000?

Eh, I'm gonna be lazy and do just the 80s:

Dinosaur Jr.
New Order
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

>music started in the '60s meme
Post the best bands of the decade 1790s.

>>music started in the '60s meme
I hate that meme, everyone knows music started in the 1910s.

4000 BCE faggot do it

750,000 B.C.E's
>Ug

>Urr

750,010 B.C.E's
>Ug (reigning champions of the early decades of the Paleolithic era, still ha influence even today)
>Gug
>Buhh

750,020 B.C.E's
>Ug (when they released Gwop, their worst and the beginning of their decline)
>Drrrr (usurped Ug in 750,027 B.C.E)
>Grug

Someone else can take it from here. Each and every decade will take a while

60s
> Velvet Underground
> Beatles
> Jimi Hendrix Experience

70s

>??????
>

Leaving aside the "music started in the 60s meme", why everyone skips the 50s decade?? There weren't good bands then?

>(the 80s sucked)
Pleb detected, there was a ton of great new wave, synthpop and underground music.

Probably Tylo be Chilin

>80's sucked

lol 80s are by far the greatest decade for music

(You)

>and underground music
lmao

Change Mothers Of Invension for Soft Machine and it's perfect

50s Music is generally too cheesy IDK

lmao what? There were tons of fantastic bands that didn't have any mainstream success.

Same with every other decade
I don't get your point

You're climbing backwards in time, you fucking retard. Do you even BCE, m8.

the beatles invented music

The 80s had:

Pet Shop Boys
Depeche Mode
Tears for Fears
The Human League
David Bowie
Prince

And more. I'm sure you'll dismiss a ton of the bands/artists that are on this list but there's no way you can seriously think everyone on this list is shit.

The 80s underground scene is incredible, senpai. Dozens and dozens of amazing bands. I would argue the 70s is the only decade that has a superior underground scene.

Oh shit I'm a fool

in terms of importance and influence

>60s
Beatles
Velvets
Beach Boys

>70s

>importance/influence
>no David Bowie
Can, Pink Floyd and King Crimson are incredible bands who are undeniably immensely important/influential but I would swap one of them out with Bowie.

idk
I'm biased since I don't like post punk so I won't comment
Not that guy but I dislike most of the ones I know
Most of them fall under the rock umbrella, and most from UK/US so this list isn't that eclectic

Point taken, thanks for the list forgot a lot of these bands existed. But the problem is when I hear "80s music" I think of overproduced synthpop with those godawful reverbed snares, not My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth or Swans.

2010ies

Sete Star Sept
Fushitsusha
The Automatics Group
Future Blonds

Yeah thats a good shout. Probably KC

I'm just gonna do favourite bands so I don't get bullied too much. Don't listen to enough before the 70s to have any remotely distinctive taste

Solid list, tbch. I like many of these bands.

I like your list, except the 00s decade. Bonus points for including Grimes, she's fucking great.

Am I the only one who likes They Might Be Giants? They were in the 80s.

yeah

Sweet, #1 fan.

I forgot to include them and XTC. Both are great.

What's wrong with the 00s? Mars Volta is probably my fave band on that list

Also, yeah, Grimes is definitely underrated here. I think she just sincerely loves pop music, which is nice because a lot of pop can be quite cynical and bland. She can be (relatively) eclectic and just have it all under nice catchy pop melodies. I get why it comes off as lolsorandom to some people, but if you like the same music she does (like the stuff we have in common in 80s and 90s) her early albums are like a modern, digital homage to that.
