Know him from that one New Vegas song. Didn't really like that one but I'll give a few of his other songs a shot.

Townes Van Zandt, Willie Nelson's alright, Gram Parsons
Progressive/Outlaw Country is probably what you'd like best if you come from a rock (or anything else tbqh) background.

Waylon Jennings was pretty comfy and Townes Van Zandt just sounded really cool and wild westerny

>tfw country and rap have been combined before
Hank Williams is great if you want depressing and sad country music
Kacey Musgraves, Pistol Annies, Lydia Loveless,Caitlin Rose, etc. There are lots of women who make great contemporary country music.
the only good ones are ones that sound like blues
I'm not a huge fan of country music, but I love this Sturgill Simpson album. Most of all Breakers Roar, which is one of my favorite songs to come out this year.

Its about fucking... a fav of mine
Checked.
Quality album but I feel like the recent Robert Ellis is the album Sturgill was trying to make with Sailor's Guide. Expansive but rooted, daring, fresh, bold and barely Country. Sailor's Guide has more high points but Robert's album works more as a whole and isn't held back by a concept like the Sturgill album is.
Does this count?
