By listening to the superior album

by shitposting on Cred Forums

...

I bought it on iTunes to celebrate and wow, it's really inferior to in utero.

>and I don't have a gun

What did he mean by this?

It comes very close to as good imo

By listening to better bands.

by ignoring it

RHCP's "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" and A Tribe Called Quest's "Low End Theory" are also 25 today.

Weezer's Pinkerton also turns 20 today.

>I bought it on iTunes to celebrate

Ok.

>and wow, it's really inferior to in utero.

Are you saying you've NEVER listened to Nevermind before?

>Pinkerton
ah yes
youtube.com/watch?v=4spkVX8z-vs

Nope. At least, not the whole thing. On lithium right now. It's p good. But not as good as in utero.

>hasn't finished it
opinion discarded

Still a great album, whether you think one is better or not.

This album is a definite 10/10. Do you leave off bubblegum?

Its a good album and one of the very many that got me into rock music. Will listen to it tonight.

I liked the fuzziness of in utero more.

Wow, enjoy your first listen. Make sure to check Incesticide too

Aneurysm is one of their best songs.

By listening to an awful sludge metal tribute compilation called Whatever Nevermind.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whatever_Nevermind

Why were most of Nirvana's album covers so shitty? Yeah Bleach and Incesticide are alright, but Nevermind and In Utero have such awful covers. None of the other big grunge bands had covers that shitty. It has become iconic, but I still think it's shit.

This is one of the cheesiest, edgiest, most uninteresting bands ever to reach universal acclaim.

You gotta understand that at the time this was like the trend setter album that defined the early 90's.

this

kids

>leaving off the only semi-decent song

the meme has gone too far

Yes I left off Bubblegum.

KEXP.ORG right the fuck now

This.

according to Mtv and geffen records, sure.

8 years old, with my brother, 3 years my senior.. first time hearing Smells Like Teen Spirit

the living room became this intense moshpit. cushions. cushions everywhere.

changed my life

I think the tangential similarities to instrumental surf and 50's rock really drew me in, having just recently heard "Walk Don't Run" by The Ventures. That song sent me into a trance.

I wasn't really culturally aware, being so young. Witnessing my brother grow into Nirvana, Tool, Smashing Pumpkins, etc... and out of Metallica, AC/DC, Guns n Roses - I myself starting growing out of Weird Al and Chipmunks covers. I really looked up to my bro, so I started to get REALLY into whatever he was doing. My first time getting drunk off peach coolers in his room, with his gf... well "Tourette's" came on and it was one of my favourites, so I totally went off, "singing" along, and flailing out. She thought it was cool lol.

Then I was 12. Off school sick, lying on the couch, feeling like I had *become* the color orange... a sort of synesthesia,.. whatever... So I'm lying on the couch, and my brother is being escorted in the door by a police officer. He was out being a dropout fuckup, and "accidentally" set a dumpster on fire with his friends, flicking matches around. Afterwards, he saw that I was clearly sick as fuck, and started asking me stuff and being all concerned. Then on the TV, the news came on... we were absolutely stunned. The entire summer, we'd walk around town at night, wearing our granny sweaters and kool-aid hair, ripped jeans, etc. blessed and obsessed.

After all was said and done, my brother moved on to other music. Green Day, Marilyn Manson, Jewel, Alanis Morrissette, gangsta rap, to name a few... not necessarily in that order. Myself moving on to Korn, Pantera, Sepultura, and such.

But Nirvana touched me in a way that no other artist has. Now I'm into punk and indie rock of all kinds, past and present. Oh and surf rock of course.

tl:dr I'm pretty fucking sick of Nirvana..

Enough posturing already you fucks. It's okay to have your own opinions regardless of what an anonymous imageboard tells you. Nirvana were objectively a great pop group.

but your entire post makes it sound like Nirvana is one of your favorite bands ever

they are. the lasting legacy is in the way I discover new music and appreciate what's outside of the mainstream... all the ways I have branched out, often being amused at how I come around full circle, to some artist, genre or motif that happens to maybe have influenced Kurt... or any other connection, really. Kurt as a person also shaped my political views, through his lyrics and interviews, 2nd hand accounts.

Nevermind was as much a punk album as it was a slick producer's album, but the real magic is in the live performances.

I don't know if you grew up in the 90's... but I think a lot of the consensus is that everyone's fuckin sick of hearing it, because it was EVERYWHERE... kinda like the Spice Girls, just with far less stickers... lots of stickers, just far less of them.

By listening to good music, not this school shooter garbage.

how about focusing on the music, rather than the (perceived) fanbase?

...

This

For the In Utero fans, there is a guy who remixed a lot of the Nevermind songs to sound like In Utero style. Don't remember his name, but should be easy to find on YouTube

nirvana isn't even angsty school shooter music

it's the deep young adult depressed music fanbase

is that Thom Yorke? overrated pretentious douchebag

Nirvana is REM with shouting and distorted guitars.

the pop production of the songs is what gives Nevermind it's entire feel/energy imo for example this is not nearly as good as the original

youtube.com/watch?v=P3l-wgXzOs8

okay?

MOOOOOOODSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Nirvana is:
Cheap Trick
Young Marble Giants
Buddy Holly
Jimi Hendrix
Pixies
Joy Division
(some general new wave feels)
David Bowie
The Vaselines
Meat Puppets
Shoegaze
Ledbelly
Bush Tetras
REM
Sonic Youth
Beat Happening
The Raincoats
Lou Reed
The Melvins
C86/Twee
Aerosmith
oh yeah, The Beatles
wtf are those cock rock losers called?... Led Zeppelin

Kurt was a rock n roll historian. listen hard

He'll kick your ass

did Thom like Nirvana/Kurt? I know he used to dress like Kurt

>calling other kids because they don't like angsty bullshit rock band #1134744288

Ok

that babys benis is bigger than mine

I'm relistening to Endless Nameless rn

kid

personally, I think Thom is a careerist, and wanted to cash in on the scene. "Creep" is great and all, but as charming and tuneful as it is, I think it was a calculated stab at the mopey loud-quiet-loud formula

...and Kid A was his Sgt. Pepper... really cleaned up on it too

You can't really judge an album like that on the first listen. ffs Cred Forums.

He said they were a big influence on him, but then he made a joke about Kurt having a fat wife. Kurt didn't find the joke very funny

Best SLTS performance
youtu.be/NPQQkvmPOw8

what no Killing Joke lmao

Both In Utero and Nevermind are 10s you shites.

haha of course Kurt would never play the game for that shit show

thank you kurts journal
insightful post

chorus actually sounds decent desu

I actually have a copy. Ironically, I haven't read it yet. I flipped thru it when I got it as a gift. This list was compiled a bit more organically, off the top of my head

Well he actually turned up so he kind of fucked himself on that one.
>Hey Kurt, we have been asked to perform on Top of the Pops, you in?
>>Fuck that phony corporate shit man, I'm le Real Artistâ„¢
>So, I should decline then?
>>n-no, i'll do it.

Polly or New Wave Polly?

unplugged Polly

i remember first time i heard/saw nirvana, my bro and his friend put on teen spirit video and i was mesmerized by chaka

i've always wanted to grow up to be like the guys in nirvana, pearl jam, soundgarden , alice in chains etc.

they were all like buddies in seattle or knew each other, and they acted like they didnt are about fame and money and just wanted to make good music, and they were different back then - now it doesn't seem differnet because they set trends, but then they were new, independent and had powerful voice and were sincere and honest. i just love them . now i'm just an empty shell

>independent
Nirvana was on Geffin Records, Pearl jam on Sony, Soundgarden on RCA and Alice in chains on Columbia.

independent in their sound

btw soundgarden was for years on subpop so fuck off

kim thayil wearing a nirvana shirt in an interview 1990

youtube.com/watch?v=orDDfZCPGmI

>Nirvana was on Geffin Records
Literally who records

just because the record company has a name doesn't mean they were high quality corporate drones. For all we know geffin records could have just been some guy they knew with a sound studio

>cringe

Hairspray Queen is great quirk grunge

...

nirvana was also on sub-pop before being signed to a major label

If i recall, I think it was Krist posted this on his twitter... thinking they copped the groove for Hairspray Queen, and his bass style in general

youtube.com/watch?v=dqn-1z-B4CM

>First half: smells like teen spirit, in bloom, come as you are, breed, lithium, polly

>second half: "Territorial Pissings", Drain you, lounge act, stay away, on a plain, something in the way

why is the first half of the album so much better than the second half?

thats just how life is user

I feel like disagreeing, but you're right...

front-loaded albums are very common

I mean HQ is very much a punk song to the extreme, but I can see the influences in this song

I couldn't live my life without Drain You tho... and Something in the Way? it's like the quietest most insular frail thing I've ever heard. I love it

and then they proceed to destroy all the things on the hidden track

I wish I was as good at ripping off Swans as they are

BY KEEPING IT IN THE TRAAAAAASH

why nirvana fanboys ar so ridiculous ignorant aspergers?

youtube.com/watch?v=T9HytK9In54

some insight?

I wish I could listen to it on the same psp and old pair of headphones I listened to it on for the first time in year 7 when I first got into nirvana and was being bullied, like every year 7 "got bullied and listened to nirvana and it helped so much" but I hadn't heard anyone else talk about it at the time, anyway I skipped the first track and am listening to the rest of the album rn upstairs

I'm celebrating by ripping Bleach onto my PC. It's the superior album.

second thought I'm listening to it in the shower while possibly crying because I woke up at 6pm anyway and that's what I usually do with in utero so it'll be a nice change

By listening to it, followed by Blood Sugar Sex Magik and Pinkerton, which also came out today. 3 all time favs.

By listening to sound garden

Kurt Cobain was a pussy and a hack

...

By not listening to it or acknowledging it's anniversary. Curt would be proud that I would ignore such trivialities.

no wipers? no wipers no nirvana
get your shit togheter

t. pre-'93 Albini

Scratch Acid?

Why'd they pick such a ugly baby?
