Great pick, solid af
D'Angelo ofc
Finally found the song I was looking for the entire time. I don't even know if the album is any good, but it might be worth checking out.
post 2000 is quite a broad period of time now
if I were pretentious I'd say La fonction - La conspiration est déjà commencée, but that would only be because that's the album we released back in 2004 (I just realized that it was already twelve years ago... feels old mang) with the band I was in.
if I'm being honest, it would probably end up between Redtenbacher's orchestra - Dr Hypenstein or the sunburst band - The secrtet life of us
in fact I think the rather deserted 2000s funk scene, even if the bands (and their albums) were sometimes rather hard to come by, it prepared well the revival that happened since the early 2010s and which was helped by popular interest being funky again, and the creation of stuff like bandcamp, leading to more diversified styles, labels and all than what we had back then
bump !
what releases are you waiting for ? pic related will be released on october 28th and will for sure be one of the major funk albums from 2016 (but could it be otherwise for something described as "Motown meets ancient Greece" ?)
bumping again with some more recent stuff
The whole truth + Lucid pardise - Party down :
why does no one here like funk and soul?
Frank Ocean and D'Angelo got spammed on release, but that's because p4k/fantano.
No reviews, no replies.
Welcome to Cred Forums, drones errywhere
that's something I'd like to know as well, but the fact that you have to invest time and, quite often, money (because some stuff can't be found on the internet) probably has something to do with it
also, lack of marketing
Computa games - Do your thing / Feel right 2nite :

The soul investigators - The soul investigators theme / Downtown :

I have loads of your albums in my backlog to check out, we must just use completely different labels for our modern funk as I never have yours come up when I'm searching on places like Kudos Records.
idk I get my stuff from talking with friends, record store owners and people at funk shows/festivals, and one funk magazine I read. and from my own researches of course, but I don't really have a specific method : it's mostly long discogs sessions hunting for artists and labels to explore
also several of the things I post are independant limited runs so that may be the reason it doesn't pop up in every music store
Marmalade - Gotta get up (to get down) / Funky place :
Shaolin temple defenders - Keep this funk on a roll / Taxman :

youtube.com
Swade - Tender lover / Always on my mind :
Can someone compile all these albums into a chart please?
I am bad with infographics and also one lazy fucker, sorry
The delicious allstars - Poker nights theme / Mooging day :
Rickey Calloway & the dap-kings - Stay in the groove :
Bybo - Dream on :
The magnificent freedom - F*ck off and leave me alone :
