Music Gear

Music tech thread! What do you have? What do you want? What do you recommend? Discuss record players, CD players, tape decks, headphones, speakers, noise gear, amps, anything.
I'm also looking for a high quality tape deck, record player, and speaker set, so what would you guys recommend? I have a little Ion Pure LP that I use to get mp3s, but I want to upgrade.

I plan on getting this in 2 months. Thoughts?

get a stereo receiver for your stereo setup
using a home cinema receiver for that doesn't make any sense

Ooo weee. Where do i begin?

Tfw this system is probably infinitely better than anything Cred Forums has to listen to music on and Linkin Park gets genuinely played on here from time to time. Mostly EDM, though. But everything from Death Metal, Nu Metal to Stan Getz, Steely Dan then Jpop(if you couldnt tell) than back to James Newton Howard, Steve Jablonsky and Tyler Bates. If it has energy it is played in this room.

What do you recommend?

I like your anthro Twilight waifu

Want to upgrade amp/dac, what should I go for?

any marantz, denon, nad, rotel, yamaha or whatever that has all the inputs and the power you want

What tape deck should I get?

alright, how about this one?
amazon.com/Yamaha-R-S201BL-2-Channel-Stereo-Receiver/dp/B00F0H88SY/ref=cm_wl_huc_item

it's fine
doesn't have any digital inputs and no phono preamp for your turntable though in case you want that

No, it makes sense. Eventually you are going to want surround sound for music listening, nothing beats it. Stereo is good but surround is definitely the end game. Sub aswell. Dont skip on your low end, it really does matter.

As long as you arent rocking headphones... Its like game consoles to pc's that can run ultra.

This is me, are Nakamichis any good? Aiwas? I hear the older ones are more durable, is that true? What about the sound quality?

>surround sound for music listening
gave it away too easily
4/10 attempt

Music system guru here. Same guy who posted the only pic of his system so far.

The original receiver you posted is leaps and bounds better than this bare bones stereo. I love Yamaha but its crap. Go with your original idea and get full surround. It destroys stereo listening all day. Ive had the RX V679, its a great receiver. Handled well vs my prefered RX V2600.

Obviously you have no idea what you are talking about. Let me guess...Two 70's paper cone speakers with a turntable? Kek.

What music do you listen to?

my Spendor BC1a from the late 80's would be the closest to that. no turntable here, though
tell me more about your vast collection of surround music, though. are you into SACD or audio bluray?

whatever I like, nosia to robert parker to tingvall trio
how does that matter?

You are missing out. Stereo listening is for old music where production was built for stereo listening. If you are listening to anything in the 90's and above you should consider upgrading. Its worth it. especially for any electronic music in the late 2000's and above.

there are no surround mixes of 99.5% of the things I like, so it's not worth it at all

>onkyo TX-8211 stereo receiver
>polk R50 floorstanding speakers
>velodyne powered sub
>old technics direct drive turntable with new shure cartridge

All you need, my audio is absolutely pristine.

Funny thing. I could get a better experience through music stream with surround than you could get with top tier equipment running audio blu ray. Im not kidding. Bro, i can tell you are an audiophile somewhat like me. But i swear surround murders conventional.

Whats it like to not know anything?

>noisia

that's kinda interesting. where are you streaming music in surround from?

I wouldnt know. Ask yourself.

Those lights must sound great. Is anyone supposed to know what the fuck this is, ther than some virgin's living room?

From shitty spotify. Nothing special.

Its called a DSP processor. If you had one you would know.

>upmixing
are you serious

Lights are for show you moron.

Mclaren highs, polk Center, old Centerion 5x backs. 4 18's, 6 10's over 4000 RMS... Power when i want it. RX V2600 and thats it. Ive heard many audiophile systems, none of which compete.

Jesus christ you are such a fucking pleb

>center speaker
>surround for audio
>tallying up your RMS and thinking that matters
100W of Onkyo power is louder and cleaner than your "900W" best buy hunk of shit.

i need a tape deck i can plug through my sony str dh-130 please help

>gamecube on anything but a crt
what the fuck is wrong with you family

Inb4
>what audiophile systems have you heard.

Ok, lets go.
Ive heard klipsch horns on a cambridge two channel. Table used for playing.

Altec 19's on mark levinsons(this was amazing) again, table for playing.

Altec voice of the theatres on dual mcintosh. Tons if equalizers. Pretty good. Very loud!

JBL L100T's on a Carver Power amp with streaming. Cant remember from where but it was quite magnificent.

All good but if it was surround im sure all of these would smoke my setup. Soundstange was excellent!

Literally any tape deck, just look for the red and white jacks on the back

Again. No idea what you are talking about. 900w what? Wtf is 900 watts here? Fucking kek. Best buy? Does best buy sell any one speaker thats literally 400lbs on its own? Again, stop spewing nonsense.

sooo whats the equipment?

I know... That gamecube is from long ago when i had a crt tv. It sucks, man. Its not even plugged in.

The only thing 400lbs in that room is your sperm-encrusted gut you animoo faggot

this! Really want to know, just got my mom's old tape collection, need a good player.

I can see you turned into a 12 year old for the remainder of this arguement.

>guy with anime speakers who uses surround sound for audio calling anyone a 12 year old

Anyone got any recs for a cassette tape recorder? Or anything that'll be good for making lo-fi?

Im curious now. Whats your system?

Any recommendations for cheap (but still good) CD players/speakers? Sorry, I know nothing about this stuff.

New or used? Are you trying to buy new equipment? Online?

>Mitsubishi DA-R7 reciever
>Hitachi HT-40S Turntable
>Akai CS M02 Cassette Deck
>JBL J325 Speakers

r8 m8s

Better than headphones.

I'd probably get them online, yes. I don't have a preference between used or new.

>Onkyo R1 deck
>Philips Spectron SP 39 speakers
>K13 profil speakers
>Schiit Modi DAC
>SMSL SA-S3 Amp
>RCA Dimensia amp

I ask what your system is after you talk shit and you jump ship. Classic.

JVC power amp receiver and an audio technica meme player.

Speakers are HIFI sony's from goodwill. Only paid $12 for them. I need rec's on a good HIGI receiver to replace my JVC pls.

>6 images... -_-
Anyway here's my noise gear. Very simple no input mixer and four distortion pedals for right now

I love gear porn. Where do I go to see awesome noise music setups?
