HEY!! Look at this!

It's a thread about folk music!

And it's gonna die with 0 replies, even though folk music is totally cool.

Why?

Because no one here listens to folk music.

It's a shame.

Good night, sweet thread. You will be missed.

I've enjoyed woven hand quite a lot, actually.

...

Tell me all about the traditional folk of Sweden.

Reminder

This is your average cultural tourist trad listener

A cringeworthy p4k loving meming fantanodrone

Do NOT be like this!

Nevermind then, I suppose.

brb, deleting all my music from the USA, Canada and by anyone not born and raised here with a minimum 10 generations of UK residency.

Much music is associated with herding, because that's what the plebes of Sweden did all the fucking time. You have shit like lockrop and kuling, both of which are herding calls, sounds sort of eerie when you listen to it today because most recordings contain dickloads of reverb that ruin all of it. We also have the nyckelharpa (lit. keyharp), a neat little bowed string instrument played with keys. There's stuff like gånglåtar (lit walking songs) which were played like marches sort of, except not military. Also polska, which is a dance.

Good riddance to bad rubbish

>literally thousands of years of music
>rubbish
Aren't you hip and cool

Cool, not knowing shit about Sweden apark from Ulrika Johnson, farming sheep seems about all I expected. Did the rest of them wear silly hats and ride around in longboats? Did they have any singalongs?

Yes, in fact even our current king is world famous for his usage of silly hats.

Literally no primary sources of pre-Christian Swedish music exists tho

Greek trad. is goat.
This is one of my favorites, I love the subtle change of thirds over a more or less dorian background.
