These album covers are very similar.
This is the final answer to this question. It is literally used by audiophiles to test the quality of their speakers
Not that all the songs are that great but all the mixing is tops
What actually constitutes good mixing and production work?

Only correct answer in this thread.
(Jk Siamese Dream is my fav album)
how the fuck was this album released over 25 years ago
and yeah if it's not THE best produced album of all time it's at least in the top 5
...
actually all songs are great but i absolutely hate the noise at the end of golden age
fuck that shit makes me wanna cry it's so annoying
perfect for what they were going for, at least.

You have to admit, Alex Emami is a damn good producer.
same with this one
Seriously.
pic related, the audiophile gold standard. no album is more perfectly mixed than this, it's not even debatable.
I HATE FlyLo's fucking ear bleeding loud production.
No. See
Return to Cookie Mountain and/or Nine Different Kinds of Light are better produced, imho
This.
Mark my words, RAM will one day come to be seen as the 21st century's Aja
Bumping for interest, I know there are actually entire lists on the internet of industry engineers/producers' favorite mixed albums... somewhere.
this one is fucking incredible
it's pure audiophile porn
also surprised nobody posted pic related yet
The artistic highpoint of MJ's entire career.
It's also a e s t h e t i c AF, t b h

Quincy Jones is a fucking god.
>when Rock With You comes in
Also, Off The Wall and to a lesser extent thriller are the sole reason why I still fantasize about Rashida Jones to this day.
Touching the flesh that sprung from the loins of the man who engineered Off The Wall would be the pinnacle of my entire existence.
holy shit i didnt know they were related
i want to fill her with cum even more than i did before now
If I ever got to suck her tits, I'd just pretend, in my mind, that I was sucking Quincy Jones's dick.
That, and the whole "your kids would be blood descendants of Quincy" bit makes me want to go stalk her now ASAP.
I can't see how the production can get any better.
lads...
tasteless and baseless
absolutely
I fully agree
idk if anyone will agree with me but I genuinely couldn't believe this was recorded in the early 70s when I first heard it

Good one.
Reminds me Butch Vig did this one too. White Limo is supercharged by the amazing production/mix.
This x 1000

To some degree, this. Holy shit it does not sound like it came out when it did.
I think most Rick Rubin productions have great sonics. Every one I can think of, actually.
Truly a visionary
You are correct
Studios, producers, etc. use this album to get their levels correct. It's the best mixed album of all time.
This is one of the worst mixes ever but it's the best slipknot album by far. They hate it and most people hated it, but goddamn was it a great album that wasn't as boring as the first album or as cringy as IOWA. Vol.3 is a great album.

Good album, but nah man
THIS
The best I can say about it is they seem to have put more work into keeping the riffs from all running together, and there are a few instances of excellent drumming.
It's still mostly syncopated chugging during verses/hooks and typical punk rock power chords throughout the melodic choruses, but it's not nearly as cut and dried as it was on Iowa. There's even a bit of an attempt at what I'm assuming was meant to be death metal on Three Nil.
CAN WE GET MUCH HIGHER?
i don't think that's forgotten desu

This is the most soulless record I've ever heard, apart from Nile Rodgers it sounds like a bunch a session musicians who've never met where paid to record the instruments.
As a huge fan of the pumpkins and dsotm I will say with confidence that this is a well produced album considering it was made in a home studio.
nobody asked you

I'm not sure you know what thread youre in
all of these are mixed and mastered very well for how they were intended to feel. absolutely agree.
Hilariously wrong. Not a band album, and interestingly produced... but it's not recorded well for it's day. Surfs Up is the only B.B. album I've heard that comes close to real "Audiophile" standards.
this album literally sounds bad. want a good Foos sound, just listen to "There is Nothing Left To Lose"
and pic related OBJECTIVELY

Aww yeah
awww FUCK yeah
So what went wrong with the mixing/production of Mellon Collie? It sounds compressed and flat to me.
Lol you really believe this? It was mastered/engineered by the dude who mastered Lou Reed's Berlin, Bruce Springsteen's Born to Run, and Ramones s/t among many others
The fucking bass mix on this album
...
...
...
great album, produced well considering what it is.
Perfect mixing? Lol not even close. But it's a mixtape so fuck it.
Right back at ya
...
The produtcion is good but the lackluster instrumental songwriting pulls it back down.
I still like the album a lot.
definitely agree but it was still produced really well
>ctrl+f
>no spiderland
that album is the best piece of studio engineering in rock music
Cherry Bomb is the shit
