i don't understand how some people are saying xxx is better, this album is fucking amazing

This album is more consistently good while XXX has tracks that are better than any song on this album

ITS FUCKING TRASH FUCK Cred Forums IS A FILTHY PLEB DEN NOW FUCK

if it weren't for Money store and MDTF Id say this was the Hip hop release of the decade

...

His best work yet

Amazing how easily entertained they are, isn't it ?

strawpoll.me/11305448/

atrocity exhibition is better than both of those

Really Doe is trash

THAT'S A GODDAMN LIE

So what is this album about in general? What is with the tone?

>horrific images that scare you for life
I get the feel of the horrors of drug abuse

kek

it sounds pretty fun to me actually

Entire album is, except for that dance in the water track.

>literally muh sickdark beats the album

nah just that song

The rest of the album is at least 8/10

It's pretty obvious he listened to Closer and wanted to get a similar tone out of it. The drum patterns on tracks like Golddust sound like the one on Atrocity Exhibition, only to a rap beat.

At least Danny didn't kill himself two months before release.

AE > XXX
That's right. I said it

you're not saying anything that isn't completely obvious

IM LIKE KUBRICK WITH TWO BRICKS

But that's correct

He wanted to make a spoopy record like three 6 mafia or lil ugly mane

First thing I thought of was Closer when I heard the name, but I haven't listened to it yet. He could of gotten it from the actual book itself, but then again I haven't heard it.

lost sounds like a lil ugly mane track

He said he got it from both but I'm willing to bet he got it from Joy Division simply based on how the album sounds.

anyone have a link to download this?

yes

Could you please share?

mega.nz/#F!iVtnFSZA!SdvhfgYNmOpkPDWtyvQhzQ

Its right here

>continue the slow spiral down into oblivion
You could have so easily made a "downward spiral" reference, did you even listen to the fucking album?

twitter.com/xdannyxbrownx/status/780937195959955456

Does it remind anyone else of krautrock? First thing that came to mind when listening tp it.

>mfw aint it funny

Spoken like a true patrician

damn Danny will prob make it now

holy shit he singlehandedly told the hypebeasts to relax.

who the fuck has EVER done that

I'm all about opinions, but you guys are blowing this way out of proportion.

It's that good

Nah. I was a denier but this shit is amazing.

Reddit came over, that's all

I think what threw me off the first listen was I went expecting a strictly hip hop album, but this is...hm..wow

Cred Forums and Reddit have a lot of overlap

When that sax hits it reminds me of early Ghostface and Raekwon

>le i am so superior to opposing website meme xD

Where the fuck did Ain't It Funny come from? Sealed the album for me

I'M SWEATING LIKE I'M IN A RAVE

Damn this is pretty incredible. I really haven't cared for Danny Brown much before but this is on another level.

Can't wait for the backlash when pitchfork and fantano review this, no matter what the scores they give!

Aint It Funny and Goldust right after one another is one of the best 2 song combinations I've heard in a long time

t. reddit

that was trash, that ugly beat man like come on
the waning circus-like synth and the offbeat horns, i don't understand how anyone could enjoy that

t. Pleb

I swear to god Downward Spiral samples Frank Zappa.

youtube.com/watch?v=uuvrgyIQWJw

Each to their own man, but it's the song that hit me hardest on the album. It's not like anything I was expecting

the average Cred Forums rap fan's favorite albums list includes a kanye album and this thread makes this board any worse?

The beat on Get Hi could have been on any early Spaceghostpurrp track

yes

neck yourself

Hating Kanye because it's cool. Nice Meme

sure thing

>listening to Kanye post-MBDTF

>not liking yeezus or tlop
pleb filters desu

Yeezus is literally his best work to date

TLOP is cool.

FLOP is trash

TLoP is a great album, not his best tho.
I will admit it's hard to get 'into', so I understand all the hate for it.

I agree

But Yeezus is still his best

Ain't It Funny and Tell Me What I Don't Know are the best tracks.

...

Thanks user

Saving this

reddit /hhh/ always lock early threads to avoid the hypebeast circlejerk, so they always end up here.

Point being he doesn't solo produce anymore, doesn't write shit himself anymore and is somehow heraled as a great

all of the lights wasn't a number one single?
:(

Point is, you should get off this website, load a gun, and shoot yourself in the head.

All this shows is that his later, more experimental works, understandably sold less (probably due more to how they were released) and they were collaborative efforts.

>Dr. Dre never wrote his own lyrics. great
>Gorillaz is a collaborative group, based around Blur douche bag. great

Just because he gets input from friends doesn't mean the final product isn't his, and it doesn't mean it can't be as good as something he made in a bubble.

>input from friends
more like ...friends make beats with varying levels of input from kanye.

i like kanye as much as the next idiot but i think you're a bit in denial, like i was

I didn't mean to imply either. Neither situations bother me.
Artists have always collaborated. Especially in Hip Hop. Kanya just seems to get all the shit for it because he gets meme'd as a god.

Strong 8. Not perfect but honestly i'm impressed, Danny's the man.

>listens to Death Grips once
..alright we'll call this track "Golddust"

That is literally the worst song on the album

>Calls this album progressive
>Beats are repetitive

my lawd

Nah. Get Hi and that Kelela track.

that's it
it's aoty
nothing can beat this
/2016

the hate on get hi getting me flustered

Dan's the man.

mee to brah... but then I smoke up some KuSHhhh and it's all gooooOOOOoooOOOoo...

C'mon man. I understand the beat is decent but th rest is amateur, plus empty.

Hell for It

IS FUCKING SICK!!!!

No, he didn't say that. Get this through your fucking heads people it's not Ballard.

I don't understand why everyone is saying that Really Doe is bad. There is not a verse on this song that isn't great

t. Pleb

Is this better than the previous, I hope? Because previous was so fucking bad, god have mercy.

wow, t. Pleb

Truly

the drums and in some tracks the bass is very closer-y

DAN THE MAN

It's such a good goddamn album, but goddamn is it ever depressing. Whereas I feel most rappers try and simulate the lavish excess to show the listener its evils, they fall short and wind up sounding braggadocios, but Danny?

Fuck.

Dude really takes you on a scary ride throughout this thing and makes you feel all of his illnesses and pain from the jump. Side B of this thing really knocks you on your ass and makes you contemplate how empty living hand-to-mouth can make you. Like most here, Ain't It Funny is a fucking ace track. It's my favourite almost immediately, but I reckon this whole thing will fall in line with each track slowly occupying my mind as time wears on.

The challenge will be listening to this thing in full again without wanting to stop, catch my breath, and think about the brighter things before diving back in. If I had to describe this album using the senses, each one would be trapped in a humid room that sees, tastes, hears, and smells nothing but weed, sex, and death.

I cried.

I was going to go ahead and get the pink LP version of this, since I'm pretty sure that they're going to sell out in a second, but that shipping is ridiculous. is it worth it senpai

1. It's coming from the U.K. Assuming you are in The US that's pretty reasonable

2. I tried to order this last night but it said out of stock and now it let me order it. So thanks for posting this. I probably wouldn't have checked again otherwise.

N o i c e

Just copped one, thanks dude.

Yeah in Old and XXX, he thematically had his rockstar lifestyle and his difficult past separate, but on Atrocity Exhibition it feels like he's taken the plunge into excess and can hardly remember his origins.

Ended up buying it anyway; if I regret buying it enough it sell it, it will probably only gain value, so that's good

I can't believe Pneumonia is like a chill track in the context of the album

That's my time to relax and enjoy a little melody whereas any other rapper would make it a climactic moment

my question why the fuck is everyone sleeping on Dance In The Water, it sounds like a fucking Talking Heads track if it was made now

I wish he did more with the rhythm of his flow tho god damn

No one is sleeping on it

how do you guys think this album will age? XXX has aged like fine wine while Old is already stale and sounds dated only a few years later

since this doesn't really follow any current production trends I predict that the beats will stay jarring for a while

>God tier
Ain't it Funny
>demi God tier
Downward spiral, really does, gold dust, white lines, pneumonia, when it rain, today
>high tier
Tell me what I dont know, lost, dance in the water, get hi, hell for it
>mid tier
Rolling stone, from the ground

just binge listened to the first 2 songs and its shit

Who else seeing him live soon?

Super hyped now

This shit is fucking great. Like Rolling Stone a lot more now that I've heard it in the context of the full album.

can you give a newfag an advice?
i'm not in the mood for something agressive
is this album comfy? dreamy? or like death grips tier agressive? ist mostly trap beats? dreamy beats?

>comfy
no
>dreamy
a little
>death grips
at their lightest
>trap beats
this doesnt sound like generic trap trash

it sounds like a bad trip

he never solo produced, other producers just weren't credited before.

It's all over the place. Just dive into it

you "binge listened" to two songs?

jesus christ you have the attention span of a 4 year old

thanks fellas

If you want some comfy beats go listen to Odd Nosdam

>trip fags thinking they matter
Here we go again.

Seeing him this Saturday

Hyped as fuck desu senpai

#tripopinionsmatter

fucking based

Respect for this, like it's cool to be enamored with an album when it drops but you really should let it sink in for at least a couple days before you go tossing around AOTY.

LINES AND LINES OF COKE~

kinda agree

>it's a "r/hiphopheads and KTT invade Cred Forums" episode

my fucking guy

>it's a "dumb newfag posts le reddit frog" episode

holy fucking shit Cred Forums is stupid

Why did you post Leonard Cohen

>it's a faggot episode

I generally prefer comfier music than what Danny gives but I can see myself bumping this at the gym

Bretty gud

I'm surprised that no one is mentioning the album's fantastic production. It literally destroyed everything that was released in the whole year.

this is b8 right

correct but i like it

It's like an 8/10 on first listen

>MDTF
are you fucking kidding me

lmao

Kendrick basically did when they told him people were calling TPAB a classic

pretty funny, you usually only see people saying this when an album doesn't do well critically

Nah it's because ppl b dropping dl links in the comments section and it wasn't until very recently that they've been very against that

...

>no one mentioning
...

Haha, very funny. Pretending to like a bad album, hahaha! What a hoot!

And you'll probably respond with
>pretending
to further the joke, I am wet with anticipation. hmmmmmmm.

There is nothing I can do to avoid it, because you'll likely respond with
>joke
now, such amusement, so jolly I am.

It's just mediocre

Danny's lyrics are cheesy as hell

Rolling stone and from the ground kind of suck.

Just when you think Pneumonia is, turns out it's tame compared to the rest of the album.

I like Rolling Stone

I bet you think Eye off Madvillainy sucks too you shit opinion maker

I've seen people split on get hi and that just blows my mind. It's easily one of the best songs on the album and I'm not even that crazy about the album. The hook and harmonies are so fucking pretty.

The hook on rolling stone is garbage. You comparing it to eye tells me that you're the one with shit taste.

Rolling Stone is underrated faggot

Did it leak?
Are the links 320kbps?

Another shit opinion, are you gonna go for a third?

It feels way too mellow when compared to the rest of the album.

Isn't that just your opinion you fucking idiot? It's literally a dime a dozen hook you fucking moron. You defending it tells me that you're under 16. If you think that hook's special, you just started listening to rap.

>being this assblasted
He completed the trifecta

>you fucking idiot
>you fucking moron
HE MAD

lmao

respek

same

He released it yesterday instead of Friday

Saw him a week ago, dope as fuck.

Ok.

9/10 from me, really

Blackstar already came out though?

same reaction, it's insane

Ain't it Funny is fucking amazing, like the rest of the album albeit the two last tracks which i didn't quite like.

Maybe they'll grown on me.

seeing him a Warehouse Project in Manc in November along with Wiley, Zomby, Clams Casino etc

Can't fucking wait

seeing him in a month in DC
> having to wait
> gdi

>caring about hooks on an album like this
you know how i know you're a pleb?

why is no one talking about 'lost'? fr shit is great.

it's fucking gr8 m8
>mfw

You aren't alone user. Its a fun gimmick and Danny rides the beat extremely well. Better than any other rapper could I'm sure, but you guys are still seriously HEAVILY overblowing this shit. As a former drug addict it captures the despair well but come the fuck on you guys.

i like it too user but the mixing sounds weird

>As a former drug addict
Top Kek

you are wrong.

seeing him in birmingham in november. XXX was already top 5 albums of all time for me. Beyond hyped now

>You

whats all this hype with ain't it funny? It seemed ok. Reminds me of Schoolboy Q's Big Body

>Kendrick and Earl on the same track
>Trash

Nah

I'm loving this album just as much as the next guy, but XXX is nearly untouchable.

XXX is also longer so i think it has a larger number of standout tracks. But boths are 9 -10 /10

Probably, the album supposedly uses $70,000 worth of samples

(you)

This must be taking skits into the average song length part, because CD and LR have some long songs man.

I'm more surprised that Heartless wasn't one.

Got 'em

That's less than ten minutes you dirty tripfriend

seeing him in a month, was looking forward to it before i heard the new album but now i'm really hyped.

>>literally muh sickdark beats the album

I like the album but this made me kek

>mfw he didn't think of that one

I'm surprised how much replay value it has

I love this album. Speaks to me with the drugs and that. I can see how he's trying to push the genre forward, I bet those who don't like it now will have it grow on them. Seems like one of those.

Love the direction, textures and samples. More consistent than Old, maybe XXX I'm not sure yet.

Daily reminder that Paul White is the best producer currently working

Absolutely, hands down

yes.

>tfw Danny Brown will never again make an album that's as lyrically interesting as XXX
Atrocity Exhibition has amazing beats and most of the songs are good, but he's nowhere near as lyrically unqiue, diverse, or interesting as he was on XXX

The beat and hook are definitely less interesting than a lot of things on the album but the verses are really good

Seriously. The bridge is so melodic and serene compared to everything else

Nah the first half of Old is still crazy good, last half (save for float on) is definitely dated though.

incredible album. I don't even like hip-hop and I had so much fun listening.

wow what a bro

wtf From The Ground is great

I love this and Old but XXX is just so raw. cant beat it, but damn if he hasn't been consistent

Anybody getting Madvillian vibes from this thing?

It's this decades Madvillainy

That's Pinata though.

It sucks, his worst work easily

what makes you say that?

Nope. That's Hella Personal Film Festival

A lot of people saying Really Doe is the weakest, they're right. Doesn't take points away from the album though, it succeeds at what it does, a fine group lyrical exercise, but i might have to skip it from now on

Didn't mean to reply to you with this
Just clicked on your post cause i agree and forgot to erase your number lel

This

i don't think aint it funny is all that great
the circus-like synth and offbeat horns
i just don't get it

CUTE D O G G E R

kek

based daniel

superior album coming through

p4k is gonna give it a 9, and Fantano will give it an 8, calling it now

I think it has a couple great songs but a lot of the songs just aren't memorable at all, on XXX there is no filler every moment feels essential, and I think that's really what AA lacks, it's not bad, it's just not amazing

DB really is that nigga, you can tell he loves music

duude i think ur on the $$$$$$$

I'm actually getting a lot of What Up Doe vibes from Ain't It Funny. Like if you cranked What Up Doe up to 11 you'd get Ain't It Funny

Aint it funny makes me feel like im riding the scary willy wonka boat

damn. you got it 100% correct my guy

>yfw Ain't it Funny

...

Seeing him Nov 4 in Toronto

...

I can't find confirmation anywhere, but that's clearly School Boy Q with Danny on that track, right?

yes

its really good, but I wouldn't say its Prog-hop. More like BLM-core/self-conscious hip hop. Not prog at all like Kring Kimson or Alt-J

danny brown is literally the only rapper I like.

from the ground is good, but not on par with the others.

...

So fucking sick. He knows it's a grower

It is, but it's really comfy and is a nice slow break from everything. I just kind of imagine having a smoke break with that song, and then it goes back into it.

fucking.....wow

top laff m8

big haha dude

does anyone else skip from the ground?

it's not like ... bad. but it's not good

...

Danny has been a Cred Forums staple for ages nigga

Wish it had a bigger ending, but what a fucking good album

It's an interesting little detour, i like it

how does it sound stale? It sounds fresh as fuck to me, both sides

Danny is so fucking based

CAUSE ITS THE DOWNWARD SPIRAL

saw him at 1st ave which was two days before the album dropped, kind of pissed I didn't see him after the album dropped. Still phenomenal show. He doesn't use a backing track so all the lyrics are from him and his hype man who think is dopehead. Energy was through the roof from skywlkrs dj set to when it rain

I GOTTA FIGURE IT OUT OUT

I've been listening to this album all day it's really fucking good I was expecting something good but not something on this level. It's for sure gonna make my AOTY list

XXX was better.

I can't get over White Lines and Ain't It Funny. Rest of the album is fantastic, but those two are something else

>US-basd
>merch ships from somewhere other than the US

...

strong giggle friend

but the best beat on the album is by the alchemist

I literally don't even know what to make of Dance In the Water

but it's most certainly positive

It actually reminds me a lot of pic related.

K

next tues neptune seattle

there's a damn lyric on the record where he says "this is the way, step inside"

what more do u want

I feel ya, it's like a mixture of this and this to me

youtube.com/watch?v=J2lxJ4S-2-M

youtube.com/watch?v=Y8xdsZhfrcA

it's got that whole 'busy' feel of Talking Heads

AE is awful you guys. It's the same god damn record as XXX with mixing and flows that don't belong on the tryhard 'experimental' instrumentals Danny selected. The album sounds like a bunch of individual tracks thrown together at the last minute and there's no progression or pacing through the album whatsoever. Yall are pleb as fuck

I got the same vibe.

...

>and there's no progression or pacing through the album whatsoever
maybe that was the intent faggot

>b-but you don't understand, I like how it's bad!

...

Albums have "progression"? What does that even mean?

>yfw YOU AIN'T SEEN IT LIKE THIS BEFORE THEY DON'T DO IT LIKE THIS NO MORE
Upon many listens I've concluded When It Rain is the best track

I listened to the album at the gym and wanted to run through a wall when the 4 on the floor kick drum came in during the chorus.

why does all rap music sound so fucking lazy? most of it is just a loop the entire time, and the rappers rap exactly the same no matter what is going on behind them. lyrics don't tell a story, just move from subject to subject. the "different" or "alternative" rap like this just has a SLIGHTLY more interesting beat behind it but is still really mediocre and lazy all around. Black Up and 3 n' the Mornin is the only notable rap I've ever heard.

I've been listening to rap for 4+ years and heard most of it that's worth listening to and came to the conclusion that it pretty much sucks. When I see people praising this album it reaffirms that belief in me, because on one hand I get it why they would. It's SLIGHTLY more interesting and thoughtful than the rest of the shit, and I guess that subtle improvement makes the world of difference when all you hear is shit all day in your genre of choice.

I wrote some thoughts about it thereisnothinglikecoldwater.blogspot.ca/2016/09/live-review-danny-brown-atrocity.html

In other words, not every track sounds like the same amateur soundcloud 'experimental' hip-hop track

b/c rap is all about the money and not the passion

most rap is shit, but i can't help but love danny brown (and a few others)

You guys are listening to the wrong shit.

oct 6th

Poor opinion there m8. Form a new one champ.

Hot Soup is his most underrated project.

t. people who know nothing about rap

i've listened to almost everything from electro to mumblerap, what are you even trying to say pleb?

That not all hip hop is purely about the money.

>mfw it's been out for months, never got stale and still stands out on a damn near perfect album as the top song
literally that good

i know this lel, don't misquote me pls

How the fuck does he just keep getting better?

HOW?

Is he, dare I say, /ourguy/?

>Ain't it funny
TOTY right here

based as fuck, better musician AND person than Kanye

Dan the man!

Yeah. He has "it".

GOT ME SUICIDAL

Fuck you why you gotta bring Kanye into this?

i hope we can all agree that from the ground is the weakest track

right?

feels like he left off from where ODB should've been at the end of Old. Fucking sample clearances.

>I've been listening to rap for 4+ years
>heard most of it that's worth listening
hahahahahah
most retarded thing i have read all day

Couldn't agree more

nah Fantano loves it, it'll be a 9 easy

...

just listened to really doe and it was the only okay song until earl sweatshirt ruined it with his weak shit
shame

...

why not?

were earls bad flow and lyrics the bait your referring to ?

can't stand the tracks he raps with the high voice, hurts my ears

...

you're fun, but you'll have to try harder than that

...

im not trying hard i am just giving my informed opinion

that nigga fantano better be droppING a 10 this week

>ctrl+f "really doe"

Correct.
Incorrect. Refer to last verse.
Agree.
You're a fucking special needs case but you did touch on the truth

This album is pretty fantastic, better than I expected but how in the fuck did Earl flub his verse? Honestly what the fuck is that? I'm a huge Earl fanboy but that was fucking weak.

...

I tought old was pretty meh but I like this

...

he's trying to be Ride
