interest bump

Some asian action/psychological film. Vengeance Trilogy
Carefree, multicultural, comedic
Roman Holiday or some Mel Brooks film like The Producers of Blazing Saddles

I'd love to help but I haven't heard either of your albums

Forgot my pic
Some dark psychological stuff
Not sure. Apocalypse Now maybe? Not many good ones I can recommend for it.

>Apocalypse Now maybe?
doesn't really have the same feel but it's one of my favorite movies so, props.

as for your album I also haven't listened to it but it's poppy but kinda unusual right? I'd guess something like the dish would be up your alley

Not familiar much with any of these, sorry. Here's mine

I'm gonna rep /x/ with this one.

gay porn

under the skin

i'd bet my finest cow that this is not really your favorite album and you've listened to it single digit many times

'Gewalt! Gewalt: shojo geba-geba'
I haven't watched it yet, but that album cover reminded me that it's been sitting on my hard drive for nearly a year.

If that's too niche for you, maybe 'Love and Pop' directed by Anno the Evangelion guy. It's pretty good.

Have you seen 'Midnight in Paris' or 'Withnail & I'? I have no idea why, but that's what came to mind.

Any Charlie Kaufman film. I'm personally fond of Adaptation.

nah, it's one of my favorites. the first couple of times I listened to it, the album gave me headaches. but eventually I came to really love and enjoy each track on the album. it's one of if not my most played record in my somewhat humble collection of physical collection.

...

>The Dish
Kek, I'll try it out. I'm a pleb so out of all my various favorites, I have to say fuckin' E.T.
Some modernish rom-com (not that Sufjan is aiming for love all the time)
The Notebook, 500 Days of Summer, they aren't amazing but are alright. Oh, Upside Down sorta matches the style but it's not that great.
Sci-Fi, atmospheric
Alien or 2001: A Space Odyssey come to mind
Something 2000s. Some high school/college movie?
Euro Trip lol. Maybe uhh, Accepted or Spider-Man 2002

one of my favorites, as of late

Hmm, something indie and open-worldy.
Try La Jetée

Donnie Darko, or something cerebral like that. Perhaps some David Lynch.
Her

trying the vice versa

I appreciate the effort, user

>Her
I've seen it, but yeah that's spot on the sort of ideas I'd be going for.
I'm gonna rec you Jorgen Leth's "The Perfect Human" (which is about 7 minutes long) or Take Shelter

Sorry, it's tricky with alternative. Hasn't been used in a lot of really good films and there aren't any that really capture the feel. Also I have seen Midnight in Paris, not the other one though.

later current 93
donnie darko, the rage in placid lake, a serious man

david lynch's rabbit movie and kynodontas

please don't rec me that wes anderson shit

gus van sant

>donnie darko, the rage in placid lake, a serious man
Not big on Donnie Darko, but A Serious Man was apparently on my list already and that other looks pretty cool. Thanks.

i guess i should've expected that. i do plan on seeing good will hunting, if only because of the soundtrack. is milk any good?

Music if I like this movie? Besides the OST, obviously.

Who is the musical equivalent of Nagisa Oshima?

"Angel Guts: Red Classroom"
Yep, the film that the Xiu Xiu record got it's name from. It very much reflects their music.

not really sure what this shit sounds like desu but you should check out some mumblecore

2814 - 新しい日の誕生
Kid A maybe. Aphex Twin Selected Ambient Works, electronic stuff, etc
Ghost in the Shell

Also obviousky Xiu Xiu: The Sent Down Girl, the movie that they got their fucking name from.

>Japanese controversial commie
LRD, but so would be every other Japanese new wave director

thanks a bunch!

Rome - flowers from exile

Vespertine, Aphex Twin Selected Ambient Works
np. You can rec a lot of stuff to Blade Runner really. Basically just ambient electronic music.

Tim Hecker - Virgins

thanks, thought you were dissing me for a second

Piero Pasolini is Xiu Xiu of movie

The only movies I really like are music documentaries and concert films.

I really can't understand how someone can appreciate a work in one medium and not another. Like, you see those "favourite films, albums, books, games" threads and there's always one column filled with well received stuff and every other column is full of utter shit. I never understood.
If you take most every album made in the past 100 years and take it in fully, then it's weird to not also engage with other media.

Then again, since the media all reference each other now, too. You're kind of missing a lot messages just by not having a decent amount of knowledge across all media.
