Missing a lot of the elements of the first album that I really liked and didn't fill the void with anything noteworthy.

Like on the first album, a lot of the songs were also very slow, but they had a sort of tension that drove the song forwards. I find that tension is missing on the new album.

The instruments to have taken the backseat to the vocals, which I find altogether less emotive than the previous album somehow.

I'm feeling like a 7/10 on initial listen. It feels like American Football still, with a lot of Owen influence. It's a bit more concise and poppy in spots, which I don't really mind. I think some songs will be growers though.

Actually it's interesting that the vocals are clearer on this album. considering both LP's are concept albums and this one is much darker, almost like the first was a teenage haze about lost love but doesn't hint at depression, only regret, but in adult life the sadness becomes clearer and more dignified, and with it the solution. Kinsella takes control of the situation on LP2 like he never did on LP1, making me think that the whole LP2 is describing his suicide as he thinks he is thinking 'clearly' when in reality I think many of us would feel LP1 had a more genuine feel; The thoughts were more genuine but harder to hear.

Production is definitely higher than the first album, it has a much more depressing mood/atmosphere to it than the first one

Almost seems like a loose continuation on their first, taking place now that they have grown up

I definitely still do like the first one more but for a comeback album this is extremely surprising

I just wanna mention the production is super good on this album. It sounds very crisp without coming off as overproduced. The drums in particular really pop to me.

The only thing really Owen about this is the drums (sometimes) and the vocals.

He retains a pinch of the first LP vocals while he delivers Owen type vocals.

If you like both projects, this album is great.
