There are quite a few boards that can afford to be dropped. like /hr/, /s4s/, /soc/ and /r9k/. Plus, all the porn boards and wallpaper boards could easily be merged.

Untrue, when Cred Forums or /news/ (I forget which one) was deleted they just made their own board somewhere else and other than some whining in the first month they just vanished completely.
"Containment board" doesn't make sense either, it's like trying to contain cancer. "Containment Boards" actually just work in the same way as hubs do in video games, safe places that people use as a place to rest while going off to other boards to throw shit around.

Imagine if the board you inhabit the most got deleted, would you be as active on here as you usually are? Would you even bother coming to Cred Forums anymore?
So containment boards are actually cancer and if you delete them you stop the cancer spreading, nothing will spill over and the website will be healthier than it ever has been after a month of recovery

I think the problem is that when you talk about dropping boards, the first ones on the chopping block are small, low traffic boards that most of the site doesn't use, but those are also the best boards on this website, with high traffic boards like Cred Forums and Cred Forums being the absolute worst

I would have no problem with closing the porn boards and limiting the image size.

If they just gunned down one or two of the bad high traffic boards like pol or r9k or b, that would be waaaaaay better than nuking the 20-ish small boards they would have to delete to get the same result.
