good music
cool videos

White people do black music better than black people but can't get away with it

So Damon decided if he did it under the guise of a carton instead of a pasty old white guy people would be cool with it and it worked

The ability to bridge the generational gap in music that is between ages 10 and ages 18.

Anyone can enjoy Gorillaz.

Get the young culture to notice, then it gets spread mainstream. It's how almost every artist since 1998 has operated.

>like all three gorillaz albums
>don't like any other albums by damon albarn

why is this bros

Doesn't have the same feel.

Because gorillaz is more than Damon Albarn. it was a "project"

Because blur are shit

There's a video a guy did on it on youtube. Search for Gorillaz Deconstructing Genre.

Also the concept on it's own is so creative and great. It's a totally new realized idea of what music can be and the art oh my god, I love the way Jamie draws

Blur is better than Gorillaz teebeeaich

Amazing Music
Amazing Videos
Memorable Characters
Orginal Sound
Amazing Artwork
Not one bad album
Came out at the right time

This

pleb can't classify their catchy music so they are "weird tee hee"core
aesthetics

Its easy. Damon Albarn and Hewll are geniuses.

yfw david bowie has a track on phase 4

I mean, It's had to have a bad album when you've only had 3 studio ones.

I dunno. I found everyday robots to be fairly solid and TGTBATG to be god-tier.

That's about it, nobody likes blur here.

Too much money spent on everything besides pumping out music.

it's crazy, Gorillaz is the very first band I remember really liking back when I saw Clint Eastwood on MTV in like first or second grade.
And to this day I love them.
So much shit I listened to and later found horrible but Gorillaz was always something I loved listening to.

blur = shite
gorillaz = alright

The cartoons honestly must account for like 75% of their mainstream appeal, or are at least what allowed them to stand out instead of only achieving modest success

the appeal is the catchy pop music

Why is everything about race?

americans are obsessed

ironically what he actually meant to say is that british people do american music better than americans

Reddit did, specifically /r/music

i think what he meant to say is that humans do cartoon music better than cartoons

literally this

/thread

>

There is nothing special about Gorillaz.

PARKLIKE

Friendly alternative music with a Hip hop twist

>omg le cartoon animes :3 def ship noodle and 2d XD

Blur have like 10 good songs

Every Gorillaz album is amazing

I think their music videos and their whole image and cartoon concept all leave a big impression on everyone that stumbles upon them, it's a really cool concept and the music is not bad either so it's hard to hate them

Is empire ants Gorillaz's best song?

>White people do black music better than black people but can't get away with it

Name one white person with a bettert stage presence and funk than James Brown. I dare you.

...

he probably thinks stevie ray vaughn and eric clapton are the best blues artists

Are we really pretending Gorillaz are great now?

Liking something when you were 13 doesn't mean it's great. They're fine. Good albums, few very good songs. That's about it.

Exactly what I'm thinking, except that plastic beach is a really outstanding good album imo

Americans are obsessed with race. It's ridiculous. Everything has to be prefaced with black, white or latino with them.

I liked Gorillaz because they blend rock and pop with electronic music so they basically have no boundaries. They kinda remind me of Queen in that they would mix in whatever they wanted to and that touches a lot of people.

Well, conisdering it's the only good song they have, yes.

>get the young culture to notice, then it gets spread mainstream

That's how it's been since for-fucking-ever. It's not some recent trend.

Gorillaz are appealing when you're a kid or teen, thanks to the characters, the music videos that tell a really vague story.
It really is basically like watching a cartoon every time.

The music itself is Hip-Hop with alternative, electronic elements, and the lyrics are inoffensive. So kids that don't like thuggish nigger music or Eminem going full-retard or full-edgy finally had their own flavour of the cool Hip-Hop genre to listen to.

>They dug up Bowie's skeleton and use it as a xylophone

>three albums
>four albums
FTFY

under rated comment

no they got his ashes and used them in a maraca

spoooky

>he didn't like Magic Whip

Your pleb is showing user

yes you would have to be autistic to think otherwise

It is.

Iunno, ask everyone in America right now.

Because Albarn always works best when he's working with someone else, most recent example is DoYaThing with Andre 3000 and James Murphy

The self-titled album was produced by Dan the Automator, Demon Days was produced by Danger Mouse, without external input he always makes dull crap

>I have no idea who Del the Funky Homosapien is

You're forgetting The Fall

>Not one bad album
user...

Well you're not wrong

no it isn't glitterfreeze is an abomination. and i love gorillaz.

Its always either Demon Days or Plastic Beach. There never seems to be any love for the first album. Thats my favorite Gorillaz album.

Because the majority of my country are retarded sacks of shit that can't think for themselves.

How's Spain this time of year?

You guys know about this, right?

Bruh you know Bowie would be fine with that

This. This is the patrician Gorillaz album. Also the best song is Sound Check (Gravity)

I hope we get new music soon

PLEEEB

Plastic Beach had way too many featured artists.

Yes my thread was ignored

i don't think that's a bad thing

I like Coffee and TV more than I like DARE. Blur was the best of 90's brit pop-rock anyway.

He's right tho

1. Demon Days
2. Plastic Beach
3. Gorillaz
4. The Fall

/debate

1, Demon Days
2. D-Sides
3. Gorillaz
4. Plastic Beach
5. The Fall

Probably true

Correct, except put the new album 1st

Gorillaz is more about collaborating with other musicians. Its the glue that holds everything together.

High school.

niggers and SJWs

I totally forgot Kano was on Plastic Beach

His feature in The anonymous nobody was pretty good

Right album. Wrong song.

I genuinely love Blur but Pulp is clearly the coolest and best brit pop band
