It is toxic, in that it becomes something that people have been indoctrinated into, this absurd notion that you have to act in a particular way, instead of living your own life, exactly how you wish, and being a decent person. It preys on those with insecurities, who feel that they have to act in a certain manner to "get" people or to "win", when the reality is nothing of the sort. You can get through life, and attain a lot more, by being a decent person, than by being a dick.
