What are the best metal songs ever? no poser bands or emo bands please
All urls found in this thread:
I listen to My Chemical Romance when I want to rock out.
Anything Parkway Drive.
If you want peace, prepare for war-Children of Bodom
Megadeth, Iron Maiden and Metallica all have some great songs
He said metal not classic rock. Sorry partly trolling partly serious.
Vigil by Lamb of God truly one legendary song
BLOOD AND THUNDER
acdc so metal
He said 'ever' not 'today'.
poser bands I mean , Black Veil Brides , Bring Me the Horizon , Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold , Pierce The Veil, etc
Still unless you grew up in that time it's not really metal anymore. Maybe metallica, but not the other two. It's like saying black sabbath is still heavy metal. For the time it was but now it's pretty light on the ol table.
Blackwater park by opeth
Twilight of the thunder god from amon amarth
Eaten by bloodbath
Are you dead yet by children of bodom
I could go on but all of those are good.
compares avenged sevenfold and slipknot to faggot emo trash
accurately, at that
what are subgenre's?
Gojira, Dark Tranquillity and Words Of Farewell are the best metal bands
Ive always gone back to Type O Negative. Songs range from punk/speed to slow dark shit.
Ensiferum - lai lai hei
Ensiferum - token of time
Ensiferum - one man army
Kind of all Ensiferum songs <3
Ensiferum - token of time
black sabbath is still heavy metal
has any idea what heavy actually means
Not while I'm in this thread kiddo
guys he's new leave him alone no need to bully
It's a little bit euro cheese, but still kicks asssssssss youtube.com
Good bands, not metal though are they Brad
implying newer bands / genres desperatly trying to seperate themselves from others being edgelord scream shite are better than the originals
new stuff is great but nothing compares to original heavy metal dude
old Black Sabbath
My favorite is The Glass Prison by Dream Theater.
Any song off of this album
You are wrong, just because there are more hardcore genres of metal does''t make metal from the 70's less metal. It's like saying Odd Future are doing new things with hi hop, that's what hip hop is now, thus making the Sugar Hill Gang less rappy rappers in retrospect. It's a mad point of view.
Nice taste, user
Hello fellows. Perchance that I am performing this correctly?
I'm coming round your gaff and I'm bringing a crate of beer
22 Acacia Avenue, Run to the Hills, The Number of the Beast and Hallowed Be Thy Name are all amazing from this album
Here's a few I thoroughly enjoy and are god tier to my ears, OP. I'll let you decide if I'm right.
Protest the Hero - Limb From Limb
Dream Theater - Panic Attack
The Contortionist - Flourish
Car Bomb - The Sentinel
Ever Forthright - Spineless
And just for the lulz
Electrocution 250 - Fletcher the Mouse
Bring two mate
Are you implying Fight Fire With Fire is classic rock?
Soldier of 3 armies from sabaton
Fuck yeah. What was your favourite album?
Well. We both have different music :p
I listen to alot of Finnish metals like Turisas, korpiklaani, finntroll, wintersung and yee u name it
I'm really vibing on Polyphia and Jason Richardson right now.
Literally any of the older stuff from Opeth.
Ghost b.c is good aswel
New stuff is mostly over produced mainstream unimaginative shite
Paranoid is still one of the very best
You know it's metal when its open notes for 10 minutes straight
Dissection - Where Dead Angels Lie
Definitely one of the best Black Metal song ever written. Would recommend it to every metalhead. The album it was featured on is also a major BM album
I'd personally say anything before Ghost Reveries, though some stuff after that is pretty good.
When it was called King Crimson ?
Melodic black metal
Asking for music is poser as it gets.
The only fin band I'm a fan of is Moonsorrow
Also, Weedeater - God Luck and Good Speed.
Meh, this kind of black metal has bored me for a while.
I prefer bands that actually try to add something new without fearing of drifting away from the Trve Kvlt.
Meh. Cowboy From Hell is their best album so why pick something from Far Beyond Driven ?
Dunkelheit - Burzum - Filosofem 1996
Don't want to go full fanboy on Dissection, but since they are the greatest Melodic BM band, this masterpiece can be considered a major piece of Black Metal.
What would you post as one of the greatest BM song ?
Even tho I know and love it, next time link it for the plebs
Neon Knights, Heaven and Hell, Wishing Well, Die Young.
Oh yea, and still best Sabbath album. Roast me
Dance with the devil
I will not bow
Breaking the silence
Fair enough, I just love the Under a Funeral Moon vibe beastcraft has
Everything that has been made by Hatebeak
Yeah, I've never like Darkthrone, so ...
Oh well nm
Ne Obliviscaris - Devour Me, Colossus Pt I - Blackholes youtube.com
Persefone - The Majestic of Gaia youtube.com
Allegaeon - Threshold of Perception
Beyond Creation - Omnipresent Perception
Yes, i love prog/tech death.
Metallica is overrated. Megadeath is the true king of Thrash Metal.
what are the best metal songs ever?
number of the beast
south of heaven
angel of death
dead skin mask
seasons in the abyss
holy wars/the punishment due
seek and destroy
fade to black
fight fire with fire
master of puppets
The god that failed
best metal songs
Only albums matter. They are meant to be listened as a whole.
I'd forgotten about that faggot, Rob.
8/10 needs moar Megadeth
One of these, but then I am biased towards raw black metal
number of the beast
where's Pantera songs? really?
How about system of a down op? I'd recommend prison song and tapeworm.
Megadeth peaked at Rust in Peace. Everything else was just kind of meh, or worse eg; Countdown to Extinction. >Psychotron being the lone exception on that album.
tfw you know 4 horsemen is a fuckload of a better song than mechanix.
Just some songs that came to mind. Not claiming these are the absolute best or anything, but they're pretty fucking solid in my opinion
do you really want me to get fucking hostile. You'd better walk on home boy.
I'd forgotten about them completely, and i'm a fan of groove metal..
Proof that a faggot is more talented than 90% of modern "Metal" "Vocalists".
Proof that Heavy Metal is a faggot subgenre.
After Countdown, everything went down the shitter for them.
Except Dystopia. I like that way more than I should.
All Shall Perish
The Black Dahlia Murder
Thy Art Is Murder
Born Of Osiris
And justice for all, the song (well, mostly all the album aswell) is awesome
In truth, he really wasn't an originator. He was good, but kind of a copy of Bruce Dickinson.
They are forgetting one of the most influential bands VENOM
I like Darkthrone but I just can't listen to a whole album without being bored. They are so stuck to their style they almost plagiarise themselves.
Agreeing fully with Bathory. Best shit on this scene. I was actually expecting more Mayhem from you.
Damn fucking right, he is THE greatest heavy metal vocalist of all time, link related:
best metal band ever.
All Shall Perish
The Black Dahlia Murder
Thy Art Is Murder
Born Of Osiris
Nickelback the best? Really? Come ooon
Are you a time lord?
they are the greatest Melodic BM band
If you know any of the above you would know I'm taking the piss with that one
bunch of fucking posers posting bands everyone knows about, you're not cool for knowing a slayer or metallica song, everyone knows them.
try this out:
sleep - dragonaut
electric wizard - funeralopolis
kyuss - molten universe
conan - crown of talons
Entombed - Carnal leftovers
testament - burnt offerings
minotauri - kill to live
reverend bizarre - Anywhere out of this world
witchcraft - if wishes were horses
Witchfinder General - free country
melvins - honey bucket
and many more, won't waste my time typing it all out, this should do
I would never call them metal.
Ne Obliviscaris - Forget Not
its simply incredible.
Damn Tsjuder is good
Also Darkthrone have evolved loads from tech death to black metal, to crust punk and speed metal. But my favourite albums are the unholy trinity just because I love the atmosphere they each provide, Natassja in the eternal sleep has got to be one of rhe most depressing raw black metal songs ever.
What the fuck does it matter who knows what.. its about the music isn't it... but what the fuck do you know
why? Lysol was pretty much the same shit as Dopesmoker and that is considered one of the best stoner METAL albums out there. Houdini is similar, they have that grunge sound but are more metal than most metal bands out there
I've listened to metal all my life and I can tell you that shit you posted is just fucking noise.... cock-in-throat vocalist.... no skill guitarists.... FUCKING NOISE
huge BM fan
lurking on french scene for years
never heard of them
Fuck I love this kind of thread. Listening to this album right now. Sounds promising.
Also, French thread ?
Halls of Valhalla - Judas Priest
(Band) thy art is murder
(Songs) holy war
(user from previous post) Digging this.
What do you call "unholy trinity" ? A blaze in the northern sky, Transilvanian Hunger and stuff from that era ?
Yes those two and Under a Funeral Moon
Sorry for the confusion mate
The black dahlia murder
Album: Ritual - 2011
Damn this rectal ragnarok the post
Hell Yeah! Ozzy Sabbath was good, but Dio Sabbath is God!
Burzum, Old Mayhem, Darkthrone, Bathory, Immortal, , Dissection, Marduk... A few essential black metal bands.
Death, Obituary, early Entombed, Morbid Angel, Morgoth, Demigod, Autopsy, Possessed, Necrophobic... A few essential death metal bands.
What are the best albums of Burzum? I've heard a lot of that band, but didn't listen to it.
A fine list for neophytes of extreme metal
this nigger knows whats up
Ghost Division by Sabaton
I'm amazed that none of you cucks mentioned power metal yet
Too bad Quorthon can´t sing decently apart from Nordland which is not black metal
Just because it´s kvlt doesn´t mean it´s good...
If your looking for black metal any of the first four albums, but especially hvis lyset tar oss and filosofem (Albums three and four)
Filosophem is decent. But don´t expect too much from it.
It is quite overrated.
Death and Possesed are the heaviest shit to stalk the earth.
none of the bands you just shit on are very KVLT
No but they're still both good especially Death in it's entirety
Because I'm a fucking ignorant cunt ?
Listen to the song
Ok. That's some old lo-fi DSBM. First French DSBM I hear tho, not my shit but glad to add it to my culture.
All death metal/black metal is for faggot edgy teenagers rebelling against their Christian/Jewish parents.
There is no actual REAL adult with a life that matters who genuinely enjoys that shit.
It was a compliment. I haven't crushed beer cans against my head to anything except those two bands.
NEVER MADE IT AS A WISE MAN
If you like Rammstein but hate the mainstream, "Fat" and "Fish on" with Lindemann.
I never managed to enjoy Deathspell Omega.
Every says the turned BM around, but I always get bored when I listen to their albums.
I like the sound of that Borgia thingy though, I´ll check that out tomorrow.
when i studied in college there was a joke about burzum that the group dissolved cause one member was a guy.
In the End by Black Veil Brides is actually catchy as fuck.
Anyone that says "every single song by this band is absolutely shit because it's emo!" is just as fucking retarded as someone who says "I love this band because they are so dark and it's so emo, I cut myself to their songs!"
Lol you don't know black metal at all and have 0 foundation and probably like shitty poser bands or watered down commercial garbage.
Anyone who says darkthrone is bad is automatically a poser as far as black metal is concerned.
iron maiden - empire of the clouds
No, Burzum is a one man band. But the man from Burzum killed Euronymous from the band Mayhem.
Anyone who says darkthrone is bad is automatically a poser as far as black metal is concerned.
Kek, don´t cry too much, your corpse paint could wear off.
Np mütillation is bretty gud imo you like finnish black metal?
Just because the quality of metal has been dumbed down so much doesn't mean the older bands aren't metal. In fact they are more metal than all the wannabes today.
Rammstein really hate , but I love much black metal , and not talking about the crap of Dani Filth or Dimmu Borgir and death metal
I know user it's all good
Slayer - The entire Reign in Blood album
there's very little that can touch that
I listen to shitty death metal
I also crush beer cans against my head
Probably why I'm stupid enough to like death metal
probably should drink the cans before I try crushing them against my skull.
There's better options than this god damn it...... but eh fine I'll let it slide
Yeah, i know
Anyone who likes black metal at all is a poser
eh not bad
You can go for the whole album (Ecclesia). It's a safe bet.
Anyone who likes metal at all is a poser.
Nobody in his right mind would want to hear these long haired people scream in a mic and mistreat their instruments to produce this noise they dare call music.
Plus it's pretty fun to play on guitar.
Apart from show no mercy and hell awaits which are both better
Pretty sure everyone already knows Varg Vikernes killed Euronymous.
It's like the go to fact for all wannabe black metal fans.
"D..did you guys um, know that uh.. the guy from Burzum killed the o..other g.."
"we know, shut the fuck up.
"O..oh w..well did you know he also burnt churches??"
Gojira / (every album)
At the gates / slaughter of the soul
Behemoth / the satanist & evangelion
Carnifex / slow death
Nile / (some songs)
Cryptopsy / none so vile
It's still quite intresting if you look into it a bit more in depth
Vektor - Forest of Legend
Probably not your kind of metal
Not really into that scene. They sound too ... Happy to me ^^ Plus I don't find them as innovative as frenchies.
I don't know if they're all finnish but here are some bands I associate to this scene :
Norther : youtube.com
Ensiferum : youtube.com
Kalmah : youtube.com
Keep of Kalessin : youtube.com
Finntroll : youtube.com
None of them is really black...
You should try Moonsorrow.
Swamp Song, you belligerent fucker.
Trick question all metal bands are poser bands, that's what metal is, a poser badass fantasy for people with mundane lives.
Jari and Petri and Finntroll
My ultimate nigger.
Are you fucking gay?
Who was that in response to user? also I like vektor but mainly outer isolation because terminal redux and black future because are too prog based and not enogh thrash based.
Only killing with a smile
You're new to Extreme Metal, aren't you ?
From Mars to Sirius
Posers. The Sabaton of Death Metal. But this one was surprinsigly pretty good : youtube.com
Among the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka. (The Eye of Ra from Those Whom the Gods Detest is pretty dope)
so listening to a certain band makes you a poser? I like slipknot and have since I was a teenager
Wait, these guys are actually the same Vektor as the Terminal Redux ones ??!
Mate I was refering to satanic warmaster, behexen ,sargeist, goatmoon, horna and azaghal not folk metal bands
Epic freaking song. Not necessarily metal tho.
Yup. Definitely Melodic Death Metal. You made me realize I don't actually know any finnish BM band ... I need your help here.
About a month or two in. I'll definitely try the other albums
are you fucking kidding? Slipknot is nu metal, is a crap band
Early Shade Empire is finnish Melodic Black.
You like *that* band? you're clearly not a real metal fan, like myself
Both good albums but your comment is utter nonsense. Reign in Blood is 29 minutes of unstoppable force pounding you right in your little faggot ass
okay? people have different taste in music and it's still "metal"
Plus : thank you man, I feel less dumb now that I have names under my eyes. I Definitely know Satanic Warmaster, Behexen and Sargeist. WIll check the rest.
Satanic Warmaster makes me think a lot to Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult.
I am gonna be stoned for this but
PanterA- floods is my favourite song
Black Sabbath - Warpigs
DIO- Holy Diver
MegadetH- tout le monde
Black Sabbath - loner
Yes it is from black future, their first LP
I was responding to OP
Pantera is pretty good (kind of poser comment but whatever) judas priest, most things on Metallicas ride the lightning are pretty good, Exodus, and Cannibal Corpse ( may be too heavy?)
Short and sweet, nothing to stone here.
I love Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult
Speaking of german black metal do you like katharsis?
Someone being nice to me on 4chins i gotta celebrate
Someone being nice to me
Anything by Nickleback
Bitch if I want that I'll listen to epidemic of violence by demolition hammer ,darkness descends by dark angel or illusions by sadus so don't use the it's faster so it's better argument. Plus I never said it was bad
Don't know them. Sounds pretty raw. They seem to be ok but I haven't heard so far something that makes them stand out.
Don't know much german bands. Too bad, they're so good at experimenting with synths and industrial music they could have some great Industrial BM :/
Came here to post this.
Priest is fantastic!
Are you seriously saying Metallica isn't metal?
They set the standard for what metal is, you pleb.
Have you settled your preferences yet ? Are you more a Thrash, Black or Death Metal guy ?
Would say Blackened Death judging from the bands you quoted.
Literally anything from Dethklok is god-tier
Also watch Metalocalypse
I discovered this band through Omega Arcane. Tried to give a try to their previous stuff but damn, the epicness level difference is just too great.
dusting this one off, but it's a definer
I'm a raw man through and through despite loving summoning and drudk, hence why I like early immortal and early darkthrone and others like mütillation, katharsis, beastcraft and others
If you're looking for intresting check out Austrian band abigor
I think you will love them.
Pretty much any Black Dahlia Murder song. Those fuckers are consistent as fuck
Metallica is a standard metal
Peace sells is better killing is my business is still decent
Pantera is pretty good (kind of poser comment but whatever)
Pantera kicked ass long before any nüfags go into it. I never really view them as a 'metal' band though, not in the traditional sense...that probably seems weird because you can tell DD grew up on Sabbath, Maiden and Priest, but as a band they just always seemed more like a thrash+hardcore+heavy rock kinda combo.
Know them. Love them. good guess man !
I've been looking for this album at an affordable price for years ! I always mistake them with Aborym (Industrial BM) for no fucking reason.
You're a raw guy, hu ? Don't know much raw bands except Norway and Sweden. Best place for this genre imho.
I can do this too
Me tl af Liv
Me t a L
what is slayer
poser ass plastic fangs
Thanks will have to check them out
, Are you high? The video is better than the song.
This faggot wins. Hands down, live video, riff, beards. None of this skinhead nigger shit.
Metal is gay as fuck. Stop being edge fags
Emperor - I Am the Black Wizards
Slipknot definitely not but you could make a case for avenged.
Corey Taylor = modern metal god
Vices by Slayer. Its new, but its good.
Yeah but did you know that Vargy also liked tendies?
I'm pretty much everywhere at the moment. But yeah I'm more towards blackened death meal
Wild Thing - The Troggs
You Really Got Me
All Day And All Of The Night - The Kinks
You understand nothing, I hope you have a pleasant day
If you like american power/heavy metal go for Savatage - The Dungeons are Calling (EP)
Savatage - The Hall of the Mountain King
This shit is good
On an anonymous board
I was always partial to a bit of NWOBHM, back in the dark ages when denim jackets and mullets were fashionable. Yes, I'm an old, old bastard.
Judas Priest: Painkiller.
(Though I admit, I like "Turbo Lover" even if it is their most commercial and cheesy track, solely because of the heavily flanged guitar solo starting at 3:50 through to its brilliant end at 4:12: youtube.com
Iron Maiden: Number of the Beast, Run to the Hills, Powerslave, Fear of the Dark, Aces High... God, its hard to even list just 5 songs by Maiden. the Entire Number of the Beast album is one of the greatest recorded.
And for non-NWOBHM stuff, Guns 'n' Roses, "Appetite for Destruction" is a classic album, I still remember the reaction when that came out, it really changed people's perception of metal.
Guns n roses are hard rock
Guns 'n' Roses
Honestly they border the line of Dad Rock and Country with some of those riff progressions
Welcome to the Jungle rocks though I will admit.
I was about to write some sarcastic vitriol but now I'm just sitting here thinking, never considered King Crimson as a proto metal band, or even as an influence. Hmmm, time to finally do that complete play through of In The Court of, I've been meaning to get round to it for years
Go for Pestapokalypse IV by Belphegor. Raw and agressive. Plus singer has a very way of his own to pronounce words ... Dem "r"s man
Sample : youtube.com
Don't try any newer album. They're all shit.
Also dig the bands you quoted, it's a pretty good start, especially Behemoth and Nile. Then move to Morbid Angel, their main inspiration and a godly Death Metal figure.
only good album was iowa kid the rest is gay meme metal
They're progressive rock but they sure set the basics for what Heavy Metal would later become. Just listen to 21th Century Schizoid Man and you'll hear some heavy riffs and Some bass wizardry steve harris style
if you're less focused on purely metal, and mmore open to classic rock, then the list gets a lot bigger.
Motorhead. how many to list? Bomber. Orgasmatron. The Chase is Better than the Catch. Ace of Spades. Capricorn. No Class. Metropolis.
Or their collaboration with Girlschool: Please dont Touch. Absolute classic that.
Deep Purple: Speed King, Child In time, Smoke on the Water.
Led Zep. most of Zep II and III. Physical Graffiti too.
AC/DC, Back in Black, the whole damn album.
ZZ Top: Gimmie Some Lovin', Legs, Thug, La Grange. The whole "Eliminator" album is one of the greats of classic rock now.
Blue Oyster Cult. always loved "Joan Crawford has risen from the grave". Plenty of other greats too, all overshadowed by Dont fear the Reaper.
Animals as Leaders - CAFO
Atlanticore - Infinity
Bulb - Oxmodius
Gojira - Ouroboros
Blotted Science - Laser Lobotomy
Meshuggah - New Millenium Cyanide Christ
Jeff Loomis - Jato Unit
Chimp Spanner - Harvey Wallbanger
Sithu Aye - Cassini
Plini - Cloudburst
Cloudkicker - Dysphoria
Just to name a few
Long time fan here.
When I first started listening, Nocturnal took my heart, but the more I listened to Ritual the more it grew on me.
It's just so.... Dark. I love it.
I wasn't really trolling. Listen to the In the Court of the Crimson King album and you'll definitely hear some Opeth.
Btw, I know i've heard this played by a prog Metal band but I can't find which one. Opeth ? Dream Theater ? If you ever have a clue, I'd gladly take it.
You can stop trying to appease your dad with your taste in his music he isn't coming back from his cigarette run.
ctrl + f Necrophagist
I see there are no musicians in this thread. Fair enough, but listen to epitaph. As far as technicality goes, this is the best album. Ever.
B A S E D
Twilight of the Thunder God, by Amon Amarth,
Panzer Elite, by Sabaton
Departures, by Ghost Brigade
Land of Snow and Sorrow, by Wintersun
Bones in the undertow, by Thrawsunblat
When the Moon shines red, by Powerwolf
Flying whales, by Gojira
Lost, by Midnight Odyssey
Ardour of autumn, by Lustre
One for sorrow, by Insomnium
... yes, that's some of the best songs/bands
I'm probably older than _your_ dad.
I bought Appetite for Destruction the week it came out in the shops. I'm not sure when I got Number of the Beast, but I think that was '86, maybe '87. I was certainly buying Motorhead albums before 1988, I first saw them live in 1991.
So you're assuming no one here has heard of them just because it ain't listed or there ain't no musicians. Shit, I've seen them live with fetus and corpse. I've also seen psyopus live. I don't see you mentioning them Mr musician.
Oh I totally got ya, just never struck me before, I physically said "huh" out loud, listening to the album now. As for covers all I can find are Saxon and the Flaming lips, though I'll keep an eye out for a prog metal one
I guess OP did ask for multiple suggestions. I failed to see that and instantly decided to be a dick. Can you blame me? If answer is yes then I agree.
I prefer Spawn of possession
Two very nice purely instrumental post-rock bands are Kettlespider (from Australia) and Kafabindünya (from Turkey).
Rec some similar songs.Oldschool, need to practice some Keys youtube.com
Trying to find another band like Mastodon and nothing else scratches the itch. The main thing I'm not getting out of other metal / stoner / thrash bands is that there's way too much emphasis on vocals. Most Mastodon songs are just them fucking jamming.
Ole Nessie >Workhorse > Motherload > Diamond in the Witch House > Island > everything else.
Kyuss ? Tool ? Intronaut ?
5 minutes alone by pantera
Karma to Burn - Wild Wonderfull Purgatory
They have no singer so you're set ;-)
jesus christ old timer do I need to send you a fucking walker and living assistant?
