Ok guys, I'm about to buy my first modern smartphone (currently still using a trusty 5800).
I want to run android apps and have a hadphone jack, price is not an issue.

Thing is: since Snowden I'm fucking paranoid and do not want to have large companies or governments to know about my life.

Suggestions?

Just get a up him not saying a iPhone 7 but like 5s Up it has a better camera for pictures with friends and a simple layout easy to just love

I suggest using TOR to hide your internet traffic:torproject.org/docs/android.html.en also its free

And don't worry bout the government chances are they don't give a afuck about you cartman

afaik, the firmware of all modern devices is infiltrated, so user-level software wont help

OP here, they could, so why shouldn't they?
What do you think they do in Maryland? If I was in a respective position, I'd just keep recording, because: why not?

Ironically Apple takes the best care of your privacy of them all.
Android phones are fucking shit with no support whatsoever.
iphone 6 (without S) is working great for me. Big enough display, battery holds 2 days easily, and no retarded android onboard.

How can you know that you can trust them?

...

Youre honestly fucking retarded

HAHAHA being this fucking beta

I love the power of your "argument".

and which exactly brand stands against agencies?
Apple is the only one I can recall..

op is addressing a major problem here.
we all want the benefits of these things, but i see no clear solution concerning ne agency problem

All of the software used is open source, so if you really want to you can look into how the phone works. But I assure you from personal use that it is the most secure and private android smart phone you will buy.

How can you tell? Could be propaganda

I dont have an argument I'm just stating a fact

If the FBI came knocking on apple's door I would bet they give your information up in a heartbeat

The ZRTP encryption used by Silent Phone, which is based on a peer-to-peer protocol, meaning there's no central server handling the data. So there is no way of the company giving out your information because they dont have access to it

I suggest Iphone 7 it has headphone jack and can run Android apps.

the fact is your mom will kick your ass when she finds out you touched her computer when she was out whoring.

if you are _ its already too late:
>running windows 7 and above
>using facebook
>using chrome
>using current version firefox
>using onenote, dropbox or any cloud services
>having a gmail, hotmail, or any email address under any big company
>gone to university/college and filled in your details anywhere
>bought anything on ebay

its too late already. look at how easily we dox randoms on here. its physically impossible to keep a clean nose anymore.

the only comforting thought is that you are a small fish amongst other fish in a vast ocean. they can find you, given time, but unless you are somebody who does bad things or has political influence, they wont bother.

Sorry, uninformed fag here; is this including hardware specifications and firmwares?

do they have a PC OS version?

>running windows 7 and above
nope, Linux

>using facebook
Fakeaccount

>using chrome
nope

>using current version firefox
yes, but with privacy-enabling add-ons and without any login

>using onenote, dropbox or any cloud services
nope

>having a gmail, hotmail, or any email address under any big company
nope

>gone to university/college and filled in your details anywhere
yes, but that does not include personal information such as calendar events, communication, location or habits

>bought anything on ebay
yes, but that does not include personal information such as calendar events, communication, location or habits

No, if you're desperate for privacy on desktop use Kali Linux and forums.kali.org/showthread.php?24110-How-to-install-backbox-anonymous-in-Kali-(other-linux-OS)

you believe in too much bullshit from TV shows.

>you believe in too much bullshit from TV shows.

explain.

if i wanted to track you down all i would have to do is to find out what classes you take and follow you home.

that or find what address you ship your shit to on ebay.
i could do that by finding a list of things youve bought in the past, then post a fixed listing for a product you need at a really really low price knowing you'll come across it. once you paid me you would disclose your shipping address.

if i had your address, i'd call when you arent home posing as a phone salesman to get an idea of who is at home with you.

a fake facebook means nothing given you use it anyway. you have friends in real life right? they have facebooks with your account, fake or not. then from the photos i'd get an idea of who you hang out with on a regular basis.

Privacy no longer exists these days. you can find anything provided you try hard enough. the fact of the matter is, nobody is looking for you.

Try a OnePlus 3 ,better than an I have the same as every other sheep phone and costs under half the price

granted, but that needs personlas effort done by humans, which is expensive and connot be conducted on the broad mass of people.
Online data capture is cheap and can be done without ANY efforts on every single individual.

>a fake facebook means nothing given you use it anyway. you have friends in real life right?
>they have facebooks with your account, fake or not. then from the photos i'd get an idea of

There are no photos of me on facebook, I'm not that selfie-guy. We usually do not share photos of parties via facebook.

>Privacy no longer exists these days. you can find anything provided you try hard
>enough. the fact of the matter is, nobody is looking for you.
>provided you try hard enough.
That's the point. You have to make it expensive so that nobody can track everyone. If you naively use a smartphone, it's just cheap as hell.

life is not mr robot.
hacking is not 5 minute job for a genius autistic guy. It's fucking months, lots of boring research on specified victim and a loooot of luck.
linux DOES NOT protect you from evils from the internet
and especialy not android which is outdated linux with blob (not open source) addons.
Apple at least takes great care so their phones are not erasily rooted (jailbroken) and does not drop their pants whenever FBI says so.

As said in op, I'm currently neither using Android nor iOS.
I'm aware of the fact that Linux does feature any protection.

>hacking is not 5 minute job for a genius autistic guy.
That's true. But as Snowden has revealed, there are backdoors making "hacking from scratch" unnecessary.
If an agency has the power to force manufacturers to implement easy wiretapping, why shouldn't they do it?

you still dont get it.
you are not important enough to be worth tracking, so why bother worrying about it?
in terms of personal privacy, its either all or nothing. anything short of "proper" time consuming encryption can by default be considered unsecured.

if they want you, they'll get you. even winRAR's 256bit AES encryption has inbuilt backdoors. nothing is safe these days. so stop worrying about it. you are not important. you will never become important.

because they have nothing to do with that information. information is only useful when it gets something. nobody gives a fuck if you masturbate to tranny porn.

buy a chinese phone
their government cant do shit to you, you probably wont ever visit china and you can be sure they dont cooperate with the US

also they have great performance/price
check out gsmarena and dont buy anything older than 2 years

>nothing is safe these days.
Analog (calendars, contact books, diaries) are still pretty save as one needs physical access.

>because they have nothing to do with that information. information is only useful when it gets something. nobody gives a fuck if you masturbate to tranny porn.
That's just plain wrong. Information ist the most valuable possession in today's world. Ever wondered why facebook, google etc get ther income from if all products are free to use?
They will care if I masturbate to tranny porn as soon as they can sell some to me or use that information to compromise me.
Whould you like to get asked about tranny porn in a job interview because the company youre applying at has acces to a huge database of all your habits?

silentcircle is bankrupt

Suggestion: read "Industrial Society and Its Future" by Ted Kaczynski and burn all your electronics to the ground!

How would that help? Im looking for secure electronics, not a way to strengthen my paranoia.

get an android phone and install another OS on it, like cyanogen mod

its very simple to do & you get full control of what your apps & phone can or cannot do

You dont, as you have no control over the hardware layers.

>2016 NOT owning a personal faraday cage, pleb

Thanks mr. Cook

Now on to real smartphones

tbh, i already thought about a full faraday sleeve with nfc (=> Phone automatically toggles flight mode when in sleeve, saving lots of power as the wireless shit would just go wild otherwise)

That would mean that you could perfectly control when your phone is online and sends location data and stuff.
The only disadvantage would be mising push notifications

thinking that any big corporation would be interested in your meaningless pathetic boring life.

You could just store the thing in a microwave when not in use, way fkn cheaper than a sleeve, or make a boost bag

ppl's face when you out on the town and pull out a wad of aluminum foil and pull a phone out to make a call, kek

Could be propaganda? They refused the FBI access to the gunman's phone because of the principle. It was made public, and transparent, moreover.

yeah… tell that Mr Snowden

They can press release whatever they want
