Nobody who is truly enlightened would ever call themselves enlightened

I am, I meditated 5 minutes everyday for a month. I can see new colors now.

I've had glimpses, or "satori" where the being briefly perceives the true nature of reality. I realized drugs, money, mountains of girls cannot compare to non-dual perception

why the hell would we be here if we were

>new colors

I've seen God and have had visions of The future. Still waiting for more stuff to come true before I tell my stor

this meme needs to die. Shinzen Young and Daniel Ingram are rockstar-tier meditation teachers and openly call themselves enlightened

> cannot compare to non-dual perception
True that.
But the name is samadhi. Satori is gay bad translation.

Because Cred Forums is actually a path to liberation veiled by many traps.

oh, right. how could i forget

>once you realize who you are, and what you want, the less you let things upset you.

yeah, same. once you glimpse it (for me it was 1.5 hours), you realize how shitty worldly pleasures actually are compared to the bliss of emptiness

Your guys like modest mouse? We were dead befroe the shit sank album?

Word. What kind of meditation (if any) do you practice? I've been doing Samatha and Shikatanza (sp)

No one enlightened would refer to themselves as such, and no one seeking enlightenment can attain it. Followers, the sheep, of an idea or dogma will never be enlightened. It's about thinking for yourself, and recognizing your harmony with all things. It's like leading a horse to water. It won't drink if it doesn't want to or isn't thirsty enough, or is too retarded to know water is good for it.

Or so I picture it. I'm just a chittering monkey that wears shoes and thinks I'm hot shit because my ancestors became apex predators on a single planet. What do I know.

Good moring. youtube.com/watch?v=j2SNEKHxG7c&list=PL9CFE0AAED36B4C8A

I've been lazy with the meditation lately but I try and meditate in the morning and before bed. I reached some stage of enlightenment for a day once. I had plans to kill myself and something in an ekhart tolle book spoke to me and I suddenly wanted to live. Then I went to sleep and woke up the next morning feeling amazing. I could feel vibrations up and down my whole body, I felt connected with everyone and everything and I was completely egoless for that whole day. Been trying to get back there ever since.
I just finished Vipassana and I'm planing on doing an Iboga trip soon so I can talk to god.

>No one enlightened would refer to themselves as such, and no one seeking enlightenment can attain it.
you are so wrong. Indeed, what you say is true, but once the seekers invariably meet someone who knows their shit, they will be set straight and practice properly. An initial drive to seek the truth is the seed of Nirvana

Rubedi Coctione. Western Alchemy.

Stick to Indian stuff, Cred Forumsro, if you're into meditation. Check Pattanjâli. Zen is a meme that keeps you going in circles, with no real transcendence. It's cool if it helps you break some ground at first, but it doesn't go far at all.

That's a thing i need.

I'm enlightened

Buddah literally means Enlightened one

How do I get better at viewing my physical pain with equanimity?

Nasreddin was walking in the bazaar with a large group of followers. Whatever Nasreddin did, his followers immediately copied. Every few steps Nasreddin would stop and shake his hands in the air, touch his feet and jump up yelling “Hu Hu Hu!”. So his followers would also stop and do exactly the same thing. One of the merchants, who knew Nasreddin, quietly asked him:”What are you doing my old friend? Why are these people imitating you?”

“I have become a Sufi Sheikh,” replied Nasreddin. “These are my Murids (spiritual seekers); I am helping them reach enlightenment!”
“How do you know when they reach enlightenment?”

“That’s the easy part! Every morning I count them. The ones who have left – have reached enlightenment!”

by letting it be and watching it. The tricky part is when you catch your brain labelling things good or bad. Just notice this as it happens. Soon, the dichotomy of pain and pleasure will dissolve into equanimity

question for spiritually advanced people:

Does our perception of the world drastically change? Many respected teachers swear it does, but no one seems to talk about it.

Do things start to appear formless and fleeting?

I've also heard perception is altered. How so?

Phenomena becomes something with an ever open-meaning, which you can re-create and contextualize with absolute freedom. Not like an insane person would, first because it's not incoherent nor based on your own manias, and, second, because you don't loose the other, usual, point of view. You just flip between them according to will. So you don't see things based only in cause and effect, but sort of like feedback loops that feed one another endlessly. Both creativity and will power increase a lot, and you can judge and do everything soled basely on them.

And he didn't call himself Buddha, others did fuckwad

The one that can't be grasped, or the one who realized it all, would be both possible translations for the title he gave himself.

is there any literal difference between being enlightened and nilhlism?

I seek mastery of the four mindsets. enlightenment can only be attained by mastering them in this order. If I fail to learn them in this order, I must unlearn them and begin anew.

>Shoshin
>Fudoshin
>Zanshin
>Mushin

by mastering them in the proper order, a pratyeka is born.

Nobody on this plane of existence is enlightened. If they were, this place would be very, very different.

Nihilism ends with the affirmation of nothingness, as a certainty, and, in a way, a belief. From the spiritual point of view, it is sentimental, as in something the person desires to believe, and has a psychological need to affirm. It's conditioned, and consequential of individuated perception, which is, in spiritual terms, ignorance.
Culturally speaking, it may be a first step to enlightenment if it properly allows you to decondition of more rooted intellectual vices.

>Eckhart Tolle
thanks for the tip man he looks pretty interesting, gonna check out if he's got some books at the library

Eckhart tolle's the power of now is pretty good if your after that sort of thing

You know what enlightenment is? It's understanding that this is a temporary plane of existence created by and ruled over by a blind and malevolent demigod who hates you, and who created demons who look like people in order to torment you while you're here. There is a glamour over the world and it's kept up by sorcerers who feel that they are this demigod's chosen people. They keep people dumb, ignorant, hateful; they love divide and conquer tactics. They can all be killed off so that this world will know peace but it won't happen because of their talents at lying. There is no heaven, we are in hell.

I've meditated a lot when I was younger.

So much that I became one with the All and technically psychotic, went around and told everyone that I was IT, that I was God, that I was awake, that I wanted to get them there too. Big mistake of course, and it got me on anti psychotics.

I then started to meditate again and spend years in a simple and retreated life style. I don't know, you can see it as enlightened or as mental illness, depends on who you ask I guess, a monks or a psychiatrist, I went from a rich and outgoing life to a more hermit life, I severed many ties I had with worldly material things, but also with social contacts and the like, now I have little possesions and only my best closest friends left, but a much more rich spiritual inner world in exchange.

I then had a second awakening, or enlightening experience for a few months, again I went on anti psychotics to make a stop to it after it went out of hand.

But maybe I just live in my head too much you know, I would never claim to know it all or something like that, but I did had some very enlightening experiences at least twice in my life, although as said a psychiatrist would still call such a thing psychosis.

might be interested in reading the work of Thich Nhat Hanh

and if you have 10days available, I recommend giving Vipassana a try. Donation based retreat, if you feel so inclined to give after trying it.
dhamma.org/en-US/about/vipassana

i have to assume that's not really a video on pornhub, and i'm damn sure not gonna google it and make myself a lightning rod for FBI

i had something similar happen one year ago. I was doing intense meditation 3 hours a day.

Suddenly, one morning, I could perceive all phenomena from beginning to end. Also, I could see "myself" in every phenomena I witnissed.

The most interesting part is I lost my sence of center. My body was (and still is) a cluster of arising and falling sensations with no center of consciousness to observe things

I flipped out, had neurological exams done, CT scan, Psych Eval, and everything turned out ok. (noDP/DR)

I believe it's spiritual, but not full blown enlightenment.l Is there a stage between normal consciousness and enlightenment?

Things start getting out of hand when you talk to other people (who haven't had the same experience) about spiritual experiences, even if they seem trustworthy for other things. A lot of sages of the past warned against this, and it's really dangerous. At the best, you attract truly crazy people who just want attention, and at the worst you flip people's perception of you in a way that makes a real mess.

>le gnosis

I don't know if enlightened is the right word, it's not. But i have created a tulpa through meditation. Or i met a demon, or an angel. I'll never know for sure, except that it's real. It gets pretty damn real when she can manipulate the world and my senses in such a way nothing is real. But i'll be damned if it can't act out and throw shit across the room to make a point.

I aadvise caution with Eckhart Tolle. He leaves a lot of shit out (especially concerning the Dark Night of the Soul). I would read t\Tolle then google MCTB, it is the best spiritual guidebook i've found,

>Is there a stage between normal consciousness and enlightenment?
Depends what you want to call enlightenment. If you consider it just some sort of unusual, more peaceful or spiritual awareness, no.
If you consider it a totally new, wholesome understanding of things, then there are several stages (which vary according to people, of course, it's not like a videogame).
It sounds like what you experienced is a perception of the emptiness of your relationship with the world. Basically discovering that you can possibly exist without the bonds to the physical and social realities we get accustomed to call 'everything'. It's a nice thing, I'd say, and if you can organize that sensation and this new awareness inside yourself, it may make you experience life in a much freer way.

You probably never heard of them before

Today I dreamed of the future as usual but was puking and sick on the stomach constantly.

Feels bad man.

Psychedelics

I've found that I am enlightened in the Kantian modus.
"enlightenment is the release from one's self-incurred tutelage"
Tutelage is not thinking for one's self, being lazy.
"If I have a priest who has morals for me, a book that thinks for me..." etc.

Read "on History"

>It sounds like what you experienced is a perception of the emptiness of your relationship with the world. thanks /bro/, i've pretty much dedicated myself to opening up to this new awareness

Good luck, man! Hope you find whatever it is you seek.

It's a matter of wisdom, when you reach 'enlightenment' you'll realise you had it all along or something, knowledge isn't out there in the spiritual planes, it's down here in tangible life, interactions with others. It's not a thing you can achieve, it's an unattainable ideal and maybe it's simply realising that and then you stop pursuing something greater than you can accomplish, you start setting about living life instead of wasting it looking elsewhere.

I think enlightenment is the realisation that you can never be enlightened, through the accumulation of wisdom. Wisdom = (knowledge + experience)*awareness

enlightened as fuck, ask me anything

Psychedelics are basically a helicopter tour of the mountain of spirituality. If you really want true freedom all the time, eventually you must scale the mountain yourself

it's a feeling earned as you gain spirituality
tl;dr try harder

you sound retarded

It's definitely a strong way to break someone into the field of spirituality. I was totally cold and closed off before my first trip.
Only after that was I able to understand and explore it.
Any attempt at meditation before that was just sitting there blankly. Now it's incredibly introspective, meaningful and educational.

did acid twice.

ask me anything

I roll around my yard and whisper to my grass and they tell me the secrets of nature and also I believe anything is possible even single handedly stopping global warming myself without help

But that's a good analogy, thanks.

The Classic

Where these come from?

U ever run into aliens? Like hissing mother fuckers? Or a growl? Me and my buddy have had several encounters, also weve seen what looked like dogfights between alien spacecraft.

Either they evolved on this planet a looking time ago and have enslaved us a long time ago, but i think the More likely possibility is another planet

I cant foollow tgis conversation at all. And i reaally feel im missing out lol

I actually meant the comics, m8

How does one start on this path?

Fuck yea u are dude. In my experience working against the establishment/freemasons and therby establishing yourself as a threat to them causes them to fuck with you more and more until you lose ur mind or realize they're unstoppable short of a full scale uprising. The truth is scary, but worth having :)

i seek only to never have the urge to masturbate again without cutting my nads off, could meditation help me?

probably /x/ or Cred Forums

Lol f those comics, the real thing is where its at.

Didn't realize polfags were into supernatural stuff.

Fuck you. I like comics

Are u serious? Why would u not want to beat off again lol?

it has consumed my life and i could only imagine my life being better without it. used to be just something i did but now every time i finish i feel like a completely different person, like my mind is clear and i want that more than anything

I once meditated in a car, but i didnt have anything to clean off with.

who the fuck cares
i just wanna get my dick sucked nigga

Has anybody ever experienced their mom getting really, really angry over a door being left open or a light left turned on that you're sure as fuck you didn't leave open/on?

That's posession. These airy made up sounding motherfuckers are to drive you away from real ideas: that posession is real and it inforces itself in your life without you willing it or controlling it. Once it takes over the faces around you you've basically got to go scared beep-beep-beep to get a moment of reprieve.

It's pretty fucked up and that's why people call this the "world of struggle and suffering". It's made up - there's nothing wrong with worlds where you have to work but when difficulty in those roles is created and false it's honestly just a test of your character and ability. Trip in and you'll shed your posessed face for as long as you need, but many people who do shed this also leave their old face behind and get really old as a soul.

x

> posts on a thread that's been going on for hours, with several people interested

Just another version of the truth

The well will only ever be as deep as we seek to draw from it

If you actually believe in reality it won and you got retarded by it into believing in it.

To me that's the same as genuinely believing in the west not having propaganda. With Hillary Clinton V Donald Trump being your only choices, and a huge bias for Clinton who's broken so many laws it's ridiculous, I think it's pretty blatant that you aren't supposed to believe in shit that they told you at high school.

Why would they tell you real things? How would that benefit them, the few?

I have complete faith in nihilism!

Meditation will prolly help. And if mental clarity is what ur after, some yoga will work fucking wonders i highly recommend it. Focus on the spine though, get that cerebrospinalfluid movin around. A properly performed session of yoga, relaxes and centers the mind, just as much as little bowl of mids. When i was locked up its all i did, and really took the edge off. Pls try it bro.

When I die my peace love and understanding will resonate through time and I'm OK with that

You just wasted all your assumptions. I didn't say I don't believe what you are saying just mocked a pretty silly way you chose to express yourself. And I'm not an American. So you're just bubbling now.

Kek

death is a construct made up by the west to scaring you into believing in the fake reality we live in.

That's what the TV is telling you to do. Don't.

Isnt everyone?

Fuck yeah man

That was babbling. Demons of sleep are haunting me now.

If you think my posts are to speak into you specifically you are both narcissistic, retarded and irrelevant.

I couldn't care less about where you are from anglophone, we have the same media because you exist on Cred Forums.

I am here to sow discontent in the status quo so we can bring the human species out of possession and into a state of enlightenment under god.

I don't understand what your saying I meant my choices are ones that will be around after I die like planting trees and reforesting

No, but those tits are fucking awesome.

underrated post full of real knowledge

ITT: People who have never meditated

I tried it for a few weeks and it helped me stay focused for longer and get more work done, also made me far less bitchy and more perceptive in my interactions with people on a day to day basis

Only problem is it's a bitch to remember to do and make time for consistently.

Meditation is great but it's hard to keep it up.

If you're not responding to someone in specific, use the 'post a reply' option. You'll not get very far in sowing discontent in the status quo if you can't even use a website's functions properly, Cred Forumsro.

Big titties

Suck em

...

OK cool buddy you're here right?

We're talking about spirituality, and I'm talking about posession.

If that shit's real then there's more than one Cred Forums that's currently spitting the asshole into the face of many more people than the website moves for you and I. The posts that I make in the medium that I make them are sure directed at you, but they are reused by fungus who has the agenda of mine own, and not that of the posession.

That's why I make them: I'm good at being concise and that's why they made me special.

there's no way that dude's homeless, those rags are as white as the first winter snow

>Meditation is great but it's hard to keep it up
At first, but after long enough it becomes so important (because of the changes you note) it's hard to *not* do it.

The making time for it is just an external reflection of how centered one is. The "it's hard to remember" is just another form of the jittery, agitated mind.

As with meditating itself, periods of distraction are normal. Just remember to come back - both to center, and to meditation.

Namaste.

"There's No Place Like Om"

I've found enlightenment when I discovered the secret of the universe:

It doesn't matter!!!!!

good try rookie, the real secret is that it doesnt matter that it doesnt matter

Can someone PLEASE help a /bro/?

recommend me some solid advanced meditation techniques (I've been following Theravada style meditation but I feel the is something bette out there)

Kek. Indeed.

It's important to realize or remember that a "meditation" is simply any act that induces or reinforces a particular state of consciousness.

And the essential implication of that is *everything* is a meditation. Including the things we do every day, that lead us to having the experience of ourselves we consider "normal." (For newcomers this is crucial, and liberating: we're *all* already *expert* meditators. The question is how do we take the meditation skill we've developed over a lifetime - of doing our "I'm being me" meditation - and apply that to a consciously-chosen meditation.)

The question of which meditation is "better" depends entirely on the state of consciousness one wants to attain. It's rather like the question "I'm interested in going somewhere. Where's a good place to go?" The answer depends on the person and what they want.

So what is it you're trying to experience with meditation? What would be the outcome of an "advanced" or "better" meditation?

What are names?

Again, *everything is a meditation*. (Including searching for a meditation, and not finding it, and feeling frustrated and desperate. I guess we could call that the "anxiety meditation.")

For example, try laughing as a meditation. Spend 10-15 minutes forcing yourself to laugh. Just like with sitting, in the first minutes it may seem awkward or forced but it will eventually induce a very real, very specific state. (Whether you like that state or it's appropriate for what you're doing you'll have to decide for yourself.)

So since even something as simple as laughing (or breathing, or repeatedly clicking on internet links, or whatever) is a meditation, simply listing names of meditations is much like a travel agent listing names of destinations without any input from you about why you're traveling or what kind of place you want to do.

I'm not saying I could give you a meditation that would have you experience what you want. I am trying to help you formulate your question so you can find that thing, rather than keep missing it (I hope you can start to see that one reason you're missing it is you're searching for it backwards).

What is it you want from meditation? What happened with the previous styles you've tried? Why do you want something different?

and checked

Thank you.

I am sure this will help me on my quest.

I hope what I've been saying isn't coming across as being difficult, or trying to screw with you. I'm trying to point out (without any of the emotion that comes with speech) why I think you may not be finding what you so clearly want, and how to tweak what you're doing so the energy you're spending gets you someplace you want to go - starting with finding a meditation that's not the "I'm not finding a meditation and it upsets me!" meditation you're doing now.

Why not just do a nice, simple, heart-centered meditation? That's my personal favorite. Just sit someplace calm, place one or both hands over your heart center (over the xiphoid process at your sternum), and breathe calmly and deeply. Then imagine a centering image of some kind (the sun, the ocean, the buddha) in the center of your chest. And as you exhale, feel an infinite energy of love, warm, healing, calming, radiating out from your heart center, up through your arms and through your hands, and radiating from the open chakras (remember to feel them as open) in the center of your palms over your heart. Then as you inhale, feel yourself being nourished by this infinite source of energy and love. Breathe it in through your heart, like your heart is drinking in the energy and love of all creation. Then exhale again, and inhale, and as you do you will probably start to feel this not as two separate acts, but as a circular flow of heart energy (i.e., love). And then just sit and do that for as long as you need (sometimes all it takes is just one breath).

I hope that at least gives you a place to start. Good luck in your search!

p.s. It can help people to sit in an environment that holds and stabilizes them, so you might want to go in a room and close the door, dim the lights, put on some calming music, perhaps light a candle or some incense.

The degree to which you prepare yourself and your surroundings will determine the outcome of your meditation. By creating a calm external space you're physically enacting centering. The physical and energetic reflect and reinforce each other (this is why we can induce a particular emotional state by adopting the physical behaviors associated with that state - that's what's happening with the laughing meditation I mentioned earlier). So choose whichever direction around the circle you want to walk.

Here's a very beautiful and calming piece of music (by Mars Lasar, called "Satin Skies") with which I've known many people to have good experiences.

youtube.com/watch?v=Ltp_N9YUqUA

Again, good luck in your search. Maybe the first step in finding what you want is to be able to calm down enough to know what it is you want to find. The answer is already *inside* you. Just get calm enough and listen (which may take a while, you'll need to keep calming and reassuring that anxious part of you until the answer appears, but it will), and you'll hear what your deeper self is wanting you to hear.

*waves farewell*
