Does melatonin really work? I am an insomniac and usually fall to sleep around 3 or 4 in the morning. I want a normal sleep schedule. Never tried it or any of the OTC PM medicines that help with sleep cause I've heard of dependency. Does it work or is not worth it

It definitely puts you to sleep but doesn't keep you asleep. I do a melatonin and a benadryl each night a couple hours before I go to bed. It works for me.

did jack shit for me m8

Try weed

The secret to a good night sleep is before bed take a shower. In the shower turn the water down, then lay on the floor and but your butt and legs as high as you can. Then you'd jack a huge loads onto your face. Try to get the big globs in your mouth. I do it every night, you will sleep like a baby.

Yeah it works well. I'll have half a tablet if having trouble sleeping. Whole one zonks me out

This.
Works like a charm every time

Try melatonin and valerian root and if you have stress aschwaghanda

Try a 1mg dosage. Or cut a 3 in half. Unless you like hangovers. Go to bed within half an hour.

Don't go overboard on the dosage unless you want to talk to god in your dreams. Weird shit man.

Can confirm try NaturaSleep, its a mix of herbs and melatonin that are calming and relaxing. 60 pills for 20 bucks. Very good.

it knocks you out but makes you super drowsy the next morning. that and you build a strong tolerance to it very quickly

I take a mix of temazepam and quetiapine for sleep, will/could this work as a replacement? I have a harf time falling asleep and once i am asleep i have a hard time waking up due to the doses i take

Yes, it works. I work a night job, and take it every day to help me sleep through the daytime.

Check Walmart, CVS, Eckerds, etc for a brand called Midnite. It's a 3mg dose with herbal supplements. Chew one up a half an hour before bed, put something small on your stomach, grab a comfy blanket.

Melatonin is a hormone your brain excretes when it gets dark to help you sleep. Lower levels of it cause insomnia.

My girlfriend used to take melatonin since she has hard time falling asleep. It didn't help at all.

Can confirm. I tried it a few years ago and the first couple of nights it was fine, went to sleep well. Next few nights I got kind of tired but could stay awake through it. After that it didn't really work.

Will eventually fuck up your sleep further cuz after a while you'll HAVE to be high to get to sleep. And something about you don't engage in REM sleep when stoned or some shit. I still do it every night but am fairly dependant on it now and still can't sleep through the whole night.

I'm an insomniac for over 10 years. I just accepted it and i'm pretty alright with it now.

Melatonin fucks up my complete system and makes me feel horrible. I think melatonin could work for you, though. You say you fall asleep around 3/4 in the morning, that means your melatonin is released at the "wrong" time of the day. With melatonin supplements you could reset that time of the day, but make sure you contact your doctor first. A sleep specialist could tell you the exact time to take melatonin. If you do it by yourself you could fuck up your biological clock even more and make it more difficult to sleep.

Get a job or a hobby where you have to move a lot over the day.
Had a time where I only got to sleep at 6-7 in the morning and just let the day pass. Got my rhythm back without "medication".
Get a fucking job!!!

Funny thing is that I tried weed to sleep after 5 years of miserable nights. It didn't work but at least it kept me from getting super angry at night when I couldn't sleep.

Then I quit smoking after 3 years and I slept better right away.

Works for me, i take two 10mg dual action melatonin pills like a half an hour before sleep every night. Makes my dreams super lucid and realistic, i enjoy it. Except when i had a really bad nightmare last month, that sucked.

teh brand on the pic works for me. Take it halv an hour before you want to slee and your eyes start watering.

Black people have been obsessed with this stuff lately. Don't know why.

I find that 400mg of Seroquel usually puts me out for a good 6 hours. You should try that.

Going off the tope of my head: there's evidence that it resets your circadian rhythm if taken in a regular controlled intervals.

Medical grade melatonin is administered to the elderly with too many contraindications that prevent use of more traditional hypnotics. Its effects are considered mild.

For younger people there's evidence that using melatonin in conjunction with proper sleep hygeine will help re-establish sleeping patterns, but there isn't much to definitively prove it. It's certainly NOT a quick fix like other drug types.

Also be wary of Melatonin supplements. A lot of what is peddled is bullshit.

weed helped me, but got busted so i have to eat melatonin now

weed was better

Try getting that shit people put over their eyes in movies, i got it, it really helps.
>get something to cover your eyes
>put on an audiobook on your pc
>close your eyes and listen to the book
>make sure the volume is low enough so you can sleep
>sleep

gay

well I have taken it a few times as I find it hard to sleep and always hard to stay asleep, I wouldn't take it all the time as it says not to because it may fuck your shit up and you may need it to sleep *i dunno* Anyway I have taken them to sleep on occasion and it works for me.. in about an hour after taking one I feel fuckin reaaaady for bed man.. its a good feeling too.. and the restful sleep lasts for like 3 hours and then the shit wears off usually.. I don't normally bother with it but if you absolutely need some sleep take one and try it.

I use Valerian root but half the time it gives me night terrors.. fucking sucks

Doesn't work, costs a lot.

Sleep doc here. It won't help with sleep maintenance, so if you wake up a lot (esp in early morning) you won't get much out of it. However for bringing your sleep cycle back if you don't feel sleepy until very late, or for mild sleep onset problems it will help. For the former, use .5 to 2.5mg nightly about 30 mins before your ideal bedtime (as long as it's not more than 1.5 hr before your usual bedtime), and stay in low light conditions once you've taken it. For sleep onset problems take a higher dose of about 3-5mg about 30-40 mins before bed, again staying in low light conditions and relaxing before bed. Melatonin is better used in low doses for extended periods of time to entrain your circadian rhythms for a more ideal bedtime. Good luck op.

look at this facgot kys u aint no doctore shithead fucking memer go back to 9gag LOl

Seroquel is one possibility; perhaps on a low dosage of 25mg ...I have heard of it being used for people with sleep problems.... be warned that even a dosage of 25mg can take time to adjust to such that you wont feel dopey the next day (few days to a week) .... I take 200-400mg (for a condition), took me a couple of weeks to adjust .... Mind you, experiences will vary and also I am no drug expert, but it can't hurt to ask your doctor about.

>insomniac
>fall asleep

Choose one.

You're right, I'm not a doctor, I'm a pharmacologist. Please kys.

Further note from my previous post; Seroquel may not be an option, afterall, as you can become dependent on it (you will have trouble sleeping without it) but you can "ween" yourself off it over time after you fix your sleep pattern.....obviously don't take my "advice" without asking a doctor; just some ideas.

I'm much more experienced with Seroquel, having been on it for most of the past about 15 years. I take 400 per night and use it as a sleeping pill, essentially. I'm a manic depressive though, so just the fact that I only use one medication and am actually highly functional this way is a testament to its effectiveness. Seroquel is an anti-psychotic that also has been shown to act as an anti-depressant dependent on who is taking it and how. Every brain is different so ymmv of course.

And that was just a bump to keep the thread from dying.

If you don't have any kind of psychotic disorder then Seroquel in low doses can certainly help you with sleep. 25-50mg doses are definitely good for that. What I would suggest is to attempt to wean yourself off of anything strong you use as a pick me up if you want it to work best. That means trying to avoid energy drinks and excessive amounts of coffee. That alone would help of course, but if you're using Seroquel to sleep it's going to knock you the fuck out, making you want to drink even more coffee or Rockstars. This is just a bad way to live.

i use exactly what is in OPs pic.

Ill have a beer or two in the shower after dinner (with more beer). then when i get out i take a big glass of water and two of the melatonin. the combo of about 4 or so beers and the melatonin puts me to bed in a nice /comfy/ way. would recommend.

That being said you have to be already kinda tired for it to work. you cant take it at 4pm and expect to be knocked right out. It usually kicks in within about 45 min or so
