Personally I feel that it detracts from the art itself, but that's just me. Arousal it a very primal emotion whereas art is a complex system, so they are complete opposites. I feel as though it perverts the art itself into this carnal desire for sex with the creature without truly appreciating the creature and the art itself.

I just don't see a reason to save such a picture. I mean, maybe when one stumbles upon it and sees "Oi, that's quite a good art.. Should I save it?" For me the answer is most definitely "No.", because I probably will never look at such a picture ever again. I don't see a reason to, it's not like you are connecting emotions or memories with it. It's just a random picture you found on the interwebs. You would need to be in a mood like "Hey, now I would really like to look at art.." in order to appreciate these ever again, or what do you do with them?

I feel that an artist knowing what exactly they want to produce - something that arouses - causes a work to have a beautiful amount of detail focused in a certain way. Attention to anatomy, emotion and expression, subtle background details that are meant to help set a scene...even a general appreciation of style and how it helps create the right 'look' that someone will find attractive.

Is it particularly high minded? No, not really. But the artist aims to arouse emotion - even of it's carnally related - and they do so. And oftentimes this requires a lot of skill in of itself, since there's only so much even the most horny person would miss if you do something wrong.

Yeah. Though your talking at seems to me like you really do love art, and therefore got some experience and understanding with it. I myself can greatly appreciate music, beyond the often enough quite primitive texts, but got absolutely no skills at art. I suppose that's a factor as well. I think "I like these details here and here. Their emotions are expressive, and the art is highly detailed and realistic" or something, and I save it. And the detail isn't the only important aspect, but the fact that someone put the time and effort into it. I save it because I want to post it and share with others who can appreciate it.

I think watermarks are important so you identify the artist. I hate seeing art without a signature or watermark. What's the point in making it if others don't know who made it so they can try to find more from that artist?

Watermarks are annoying when they cover up half the picture, or make it seem bumpy. Signatures are fine. Fluff Kevlar dots his initials and the year on his art for easy ID'ing.

And this. I have several pictures I can't reverse image search the artist on, and their signature on all of their pictures is a symbol I have yet to figure out the artist for.

Oh, and on an unrelated not some furry asshole artist made their name FK. So looking up FK furry art pulls up his shit instead of Fluff Kevlar.

It's fine to disagree, and there have been lots of ways of looking at art over the years. I think the interaction between artist and viewer is important, but some people value solely their own input and what they take away from the piece, or even only the ideas behind the artist.

It isn't easy for someone who doesn't know it already. At least the watermark isn't right in the middle of the pic like some artists.
