Yes. (Although for the past month I've probably posted more in guitar threads than actually played.)

How long does it take to learn playing quite fast songs for somebody who never played a guitar but has at least basic knowledge about rhythm etc?

yup just started about 3 months ago

Indeed I do op

Guessing by your guit / setup you play metal / thrash lamb of god / anthrax type stuff?

If your hand sync is good already, probably about a week at most to master nearly any fast riff. Chunking is your friend and will help you keep rhythm. Solos will take a bit longer because you need to build up a lot of muscle memory to just "feel" what should be played next.

don't know why it turned me sideways

Old school thrash is my favorite.

I've been playing for almost 11 years. I just realized that I have something like 13 guitars (including three jems). GAS is a real fucking problem.

At least you aren't a Scott Grove yet...

Heh, I'm afraid that money is the only limit... Also, I'm running out of space to store them.

Sheeeiiit.

demo I did like 2 years back when I first started playing. Messed up a few notes here and there but I still love listening to it.

Not sure if serious of mocking me, but I'm really afraid that I'm gonna get into trouble eventually, because I'm not "rich" at all. I spend almost all my money in guitars, and I'm never satisfied. Now I NEED a Jem 77BFP.

Know what you mean. Am 22 yo, played for 12 years and recently sold for about $6000 dollars of guitars. And I kept wondering where all money went in high school...

Yeah. If anything, some of those guitars will eventually gain value (especially because I handle them with unbelievable care.

Here's my collection so far (I never sold a guitar)
Ibanez
RG350 DX WH
RG350 M YE
Jem 77BRMR
Jem 77FP2
Jem 7V WH (FLO replica)

ESP M-II EMG
Jackson DK2S
Kramer Pacer custom HSH
Kramer Pacer Deluxe

Cheap Harley Benton 7 string
Squier strat (my first guitar)

Ibanez V50 acoustic
Cheap acoustic (can't remember brand)

Yes, playing about 9 yrs, started in my 20s. Wish I had started when I was a kid instead of when I have commitments that eat into playing and practicing

I "only" have left:

'57 Fender P bass (since I'm a bass player. Shit this thing cost me a fortune but it's the best damn bass I've ever played)
2012 Jazz bass

Godin Solidac
Epiphone Casino
Epiphone Les Paul Junior (literally plywood with a neck but it sounds alright if you go loud enough)
Ibanez pre-lawsuit Les Paul
'70 Aria Pro-II

Don't even get me started on the amps

Nice Kramers btw!

I play bass guitar but don't have any pics and left it at my friends house. Been playing piano recently too.

No mockery. Guitars and accessories are endless markets. You can never buy enough stuff to be completely satisfied.

>Ibanez pre-lawsuit Les Paul
Want!

>Nice Kramers btw
Sir, you are a true connoisseur. Especially the '86 deluxe.

Thank God I at least use all modelling (GR5 and Amplitube) so at least I can save some money... that of course I then spend on guitars. FML

Alot of metal fags here
anyone Cred Forumslues?

dat gibson v.. always wanted one

Classy!

>tfw too pasty white to have any proper feel for blues

Only a little..
Only know a few songs and don't practice enough :/

I just look up tabs when I get bored, I don't have time or money for lessons.

My 91-96' Mayones

Don't let that stop you. I'm 100% self taught, and over the years I learned to play Vai. You just need to pay attention to your muscles, you have to feel them and notice what you're doing wrong (to much tension has always been my biggest problem), and then change things until your muscles feel better. This is the best advice I can give, I wish someone told me years ago.

Heard of these guitars. How is it, are you satisfied?

I main blues, metal, and fusion. I grew up in the south and recently became obsessed with the culture. I also play slide guitar and harmonica.

Go for it. Favorite guitar. Despite what people say about awkwardness, after playing it a while it feels more natural than anything else. The natural finish I have does fade pretty quick tho, so unless you prefer it for quick action like me I'd go for a laquer finish.

Mayones changed a lot since then, now they are a custom company and their prices are really high. Since its a mid priced guitar from that era it needed a lot of work (refret, new electronics, fucking cleaning) but overall i fell in love with it and dont want to sell it

Fender AM Std. Strat I got a few months ago. I still don't get tired of looking at the body,

However, I think I should play more. I also need to start writing stuff, any advice on that? (Start with lyrics or chords?)

Also have a 94' Zak b4 which is mayones export

Play most genres from metal to blues to modern fingerstyle, 2011 traditional les paul

yes. mainly on my gibson les paul standard r8 vos with handbuild jtm45 + 2x greenbacks

HA I had this same guitar. Got it for 1000 with case and all. Love the neck pickup sound. Ended up selling it for 700 for my wifes camera she never uses. Not my greatest decision.

Never could get used to the laquer on the neck, other than that great guitar.

Ive got a Yamaha thr too. Pretty good for practice and record at home.

Tele, strat player here

The back of the neck's not lacquered, only the fretboard. I personally really like the way the neck feels.

And yeah, neck pickup with tone on 6-7 and a bit of reverb is just perfect!

The guitar i use to play goregrind.
The Schecter i use to play Black metal.

Yeah thats what I meant.
On slides it felt like my fingers were dragging.

Any Cred Forumsc rich warlock players here?
kill yourself
yerp. I got a bunch more but this is what I had sitting out.

old highway one strat, local builder mad jazzmaster, and a taylor.

I got another taylor, local made tele, gibson custom shop les paul, music man axis, and music man sting ray 5 bass.

I work as a composer so I got lots of instruments

Played for 15 years, alternate between my Gretsch Electromatic Pro Jet for my electric fix and a Fender Kingman for acoustic shizz.
Also got a couple of classical guitars kicking about since I learnt that originally.

Best of both for my blues!

A lot of wannabes in this thread.
Actual musicians detected: ZERO

yea just for fun

Add yourself to the list.

Nothing wrong with recreational git. Gives us something to do other than fap to anime and suck tendie crumbs out of the basement carpet, like you.
>Shitty b8/10

It's just for hobby. Just like having dslr camera.

Hey Cred Forumsros, I dont play the guitar but would like to learn. Is there a big difference between a really cheap acoustic and a really nice acoustic? Like if i'm just learning should i spend big or its not that big a deal? Thanks

No... why are you asking?

You should spend enough. The cheapest guitars are horrible to play, which discourages you. Also there are two types of acoustic guitars (nylon and steel string), so keep that in mind. And I wouldn't buy an acoustic as my first guitar, because they're harder to play. Electric guitars are more ergonomic. The versatility is also a big plus.

No difference at all if you just wanna learn how to play it. I have a very cheap chinese acoustic guitar before but i can learn a lot of things. Then after years of playing got my first original fender acoustic.

Much appreciated advice. Thanks dude

Oh that's a good point. I'm being a pompous ass.

I did back in highschool, got really good just by learning tableture, then sold everything. Started up again recently with a '84 Kramer I bought at a yard sale for $10

You are the perfect example of why I hate "musicians". Even though I play, I want nothing to do with obnoxious hipsters who define themselves "artists" and "musicians", thinking they are worth anything more than zero. Real musicians are nothing like that.

Yeah it was great while it lasted.
Got drunk and had some friends over. Thought it would make a great karaoke speaker. Blew the fucker.

Had good faux tube sound.

Thank you dude. It's one thing to take pride in your work, and another to put everyone else down just to elevate yourself.

Humility defines the artist

Yes, but i suck ass

I've been playing in bands for ten years, I've recorded albums, filmed music videos, and gone on tour. I think I can recognise an amateur when I see one.

You remind me of somebody
