Standard LAMP stack, so I have the backend in PHP and the database in MySQL.
I'm using jQuery, though, for some extra nice functionality on the frontend.

If all goes well, though, I'll eventually be able to put it on my own server and not host with someone else. In that case, I'll probably slowly switch to a SCAR or LARC stack. The S/L has something to do with the UNIX OS I wanna work on developing. The A would have to do with a webserver software I'd also like to custom develop, and the R would be a database application I'd like to develop. C is just C/++ for backend.
But, in between, I'd want to move it to some kind of UNIX, maybe UnixWare. I might switch the DB to Oracle or something in that time. I don't really know that many webserver options, though, so I'd probably stick with Apache.
On the other hand, I'd probably try to rewrite the backend in C/++ as soon as I can move it to my own server

My working theory is that it reacts with her brain on a chemical level similarly to cocaine with regular humans. That's the only excuse I can find for her spending hundreds of dollars on apples.

Apache always works. My project's were just a LAMP stack with some nodejs on the front end, since a lot of employers are raving about nodeJS being the next big thing I thought it would be worthwhile learning it. I've had some problems with Oracle and wouldn't really recommend it but I guess everybody has their own experience.

Sounds like a lot of fun for the whole thing though and writing it all from scratch is some fun project. I wish you every success anyway

I can understand that, too. That's why I was so conditional about "MIGHT move".

Oracle has proper functionality for check constraints, though, whereas MySQL completely ignores them, and you HAVE TO use enum().

Not a huge fan of either, but MySQL is easier, especially with the auto_increment property.

I could always look into another option, though, but I'd have to really find one. And not one of those meme ones like fucking MongoDB or something.

If you install the extension MySQL Cluster, it scales flawlessly. Any nodes in the system are automatically utilized as they are added, and redundancy fills in gaps when one goes down, breaks, or is removed.

MongoDB is a NoSQL system. It does have its purposes, but it is by no means an alternative to a tabular structured database.
MongoDB allows for the storage of OBJECTS as opposed to fields of data.
It can be utilized properly with Node.js, because Node can be run on the backend, and JS has innate functionality for Objects.

But, for my project, that really has no purpose, and IF I wanted to store objects, I can just create a PHP (or C) parser to generate the data properly.

I'm probably gonna have to get off very shortly though to go to the bathroom and some stuff.
