The white knob and the red button are the valve to heat your water. You need a supply of gas running. Turn the white knob and press the red button.

It does click but it's rly soft
Not like on a grill where you can feel it give some resistance. Also it sticks when you push it and have to pull it out again.

you got to turn the gas on and then use the pilot light button everyone keeps telling you about. If the pilot light ignition switch doesn't spark use one of those long lighters and don't blow your house up. when you turn the knot to on do you smell gas? If no gas you need professional assistance.
