Hey Cred Forums, why aren't we (as in, "humanity") don't breed monkeys for intelligence? Russians were able to domesticate foxes in what, 50 years with selective breeding. How long would it take to breed a chimp that has an intelligence of like a 5 year old? Surely it could be done in a century.
Animal researchers give animals various intelligence tests all the time, so just let's push the pedal to the metal on the selection process and breed hyper intelligent chimps or gorillas. Just smart enough so that they can be used as slaves but not smart enough to get any ideas about freedom.
Or we could use them in the military. Imagine a platoon of heavily-armed gorillas with machine guns para-dropping to a battlefield. And since we don't have to pay them they won't be a huge, mostly useless, drain on resources like present-day military.

Most primates are smarter than us in terms of memory, spacial awareness and several other intelligence abilities, we're just better at things like rationale and reasoning.

You are being silly. Sure, maybe certain animals are better at spatial reasoning or memory, but they are not able to follow general commands. General-purpose robots with dexterity of a monkey are pretty much hard science fiction right now. And human slavery is immoral.
