Hey Cred Forums, what are your religious beliefs, if you have any? (Note, atheism does not count as a religion). Does the pornography, gore and other things make you worried about your morality if you religion bases itself on such morals? Moreover, why do you think your religion is true? Thanks for your time. Please understand that I am asking a question, not trying to convert you to any faith, as I am an agnostic.

Nice work faggot...

I don't believe in any religion or spirituality for that matter. However I do feel like porn and violence aren't too positive influences on societies. However, that's how it usually is when something new shows up and I do expect the porn consumption and such to drop soon, since it will get boring for us.
But yeah, we need something besides religion that will help society to define a healthy way of living. I also believe that the communal aspects of religion need to be embraced by the population in a nonreligious manner, e.g. weekly meeting to discuss the state of society and talk to your neighbours and friends.

Humans don't work that way dubsman, you need a bunch of things to make the community prosper for long time.

Make a club and it could live almost 300 years.
A school will end approaching to religions no matter what.

You can't take the religious part out of religions without triggering some kind of fucked up chain of events that will end resetting the moral perceptions of man in less than a decade like happens since the industrial revolution.

Oh yeah, it will definitely lead to a major shift in society, that will entail a lot of arguing.
But to me religion is fading and with it are many of our collaboration efforts.
Seems to me today most people a focused on what they can achieve and not what their community can achieve.
Hopefully instead of building palaces for a lucky few, we'll turn towards projects that benefit all members of the community.

More than arguing i think it will end in creating cancerous sub branches that will end weakening the social structures of the nations. Remember how people tried to get rid of religions?
it's either by "freedom to do evil" propaganda or straight slaughtering. Both just end in the same, they place a landmark and use it to fuel their fervor, for the society in general in the other hand, just makes the fucked up side of society take inspiration of what anti-religious people did in the past and take the fundamentals of philosophically non-religious people to back up their actions.

The problem is not religion, the problem are morally ill people taking advantage of every system they can reach and like leeches they stick to them

Yeah, religion as such isn't evil.
Personally I believe we just need a new vision, something humans can get behind and collaborate on.
Instead we're currently experiencing exactly what you describe. Fracturing of existing groups into smaller groups with more extreme opinions.
I honestly think that the German approach during WW2 wasn't that bad. They created a society that would happily make personal sacrifice for the good of the community. Of course they still had somewhat rigid power structures and so on, but I believe that acting in the interest of society/species is always better than acting upon personal interest.
We just need a new generation of students that get taught exactly that and not the 'me first'-mentality that is currently supported.

I'm Muslim. Yeah it definitely does but at the same time, I don't follow my religion super strictly. I drink and smoke and I'm not a virgin, so that guilt passed for me back when I was young.

Raised baptist. Church three times a week. Atheist by high school. Discovered eastern religions in college which led me to contemplative Christianity. Currently something between an atheist and a Christian I guess. I don't try to label it.

Buddhism has entire realms of gods

I firmly belive that anyone who is in any way religious should be executed

Common belief amongst edgy teenagers who haven't studied many world religions

There is no god, get over it faggots...

I just can't get over the fact that if one group would finally dominate the world and execute all others, we'd probably be a lot more focused on other things, besides wars and violence.
However I can't really decide who's supposed to win, we all suck in one way or another.

who do you think should win? The religious freaks that who point everythink on god or the based scientists with reason and who discover new things everyday? Not that hard realy if you think about it.

Every group has subgroups. If there were only one ideology, it would splinter until we were back where we started

Fucking typos :/

Not mutually exclusive, unless you rely on a strawman religious person who is anti-science

see
Personally I don't see why there shouldn't be scientist just as mad as religious people.
Also, I didn't want to restrict it to religion. Same goes for societal structures, countries, cultures, ideologies, economic structures and so on.

Still a person who is more religious is never going completely question the things that he can't understand and is going to give up at some point i think.

I disagree. Some religious folks are intellectually lazy, but others are the opposite. Look at any of the great theologians or contemplatives- Thomas Aquinas, Thomas Merton, Meister Eckhart etc

The rituals and memorizing prayers don't matter.
In summation, Jesus said two things:
1. Praise God
2. Don't be dicks to each other.

I believe that if you're not hurting anyone, you should be able to do whatever you want.
I guess I'd be a Daoist.

And how many atheists know how quantum physics actually works? Or even Newtonian physics?

Interesting how similar the tao te ching is to many things Jesus said in the gospels. Very similar philosophies at their heart

On the other hand, a scientist may blindly devote everything he has to an experiment that is flawed, for he believes that it will yield an important conclusion.

I think it really doesn't depend on who is running the show, as long as the encourage a ever increasing level of education in the population. At some point the people will likely shed their imaginary chains, much like we're doing with Christianity and other religions atm.

>Jesus said X.
>The rituals and memorizing prayers don't matter.

Luke 22:19
you've got less theology than a warhammer novel.

Good point but I think they represent the minority of religious people and they don't actually belive in those things that are written in the bible
I doesn't matter if they know how it works. The important thing is that they acknowledge it.

Buddhism and Daoism arent religions but thats me mixed with some antitheism

I've eaten those Jesus crackers and they don't taste anything like human flesh.
>transmutation

So the lord and science both work in mysterious ways, and adherents of both are urged to acknowledge the truth, not understand it

They definitely are religions. With priests and monastics and rituals and temples

I AM A DISCIPLE OF KHORNE,THE BLOOD GOD, ALL SHALL BLEED AND ALL MAGES SHALL DIE. BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD AND THE SKULLS OF MY ENEMIES SHALL ADORN HIS THRONE OF BONE

ANY WHO FIGHT SHALL BE REWARDED, THE WEAK SHOULD FEAR THE STRONG MAGIC IS A COWARDLY AND DISHONORABLE WAY TO EVISCERATE AND DESTROY

IM REALLY FUCKIN PISSED
ALSO I AM OBLIGATED TO BISECT YOU IF YOU WORSHIP THAT SNAKE-FUCKER SLAANESH

>Transmutation = transubstantiation
You are hilarious

Holy shit so many gets in a row

Raised catholic, but now agnostic.

If there was a creator of the universe who built all things, then in a way I think it woukd be unknowable. Thats just the nature of a god.

But I think it's not meant to be the main thrust of our life to try and find out anyway. Do good by other people, make life easier for yourself and those around you, and if there is a god or gods, deal with that at the time. Just don't use it now as an excuse to impede growth, progress and technology.

Well no. Science is based on fact. Any1 can look it up at any time and will see proof of the claims and whether you understand it or not it's still fact unlike religion.

>Note, atheism does not count as a religion
Of course it doesn't, that's the whole point of it you fucking retard.
I am an Atheist, anyone who believes in a magical Sky-wizard who grants wishes is a fool.

>Still a person who is more religious is never going completely question the things that he can't understand and is going to give up at some point i think.

We're discussing intellectual honesty, curiosity, and a thirst for the truth. Don't most non-religious people also "never completely question things" and "give up" at a certain point?

youtube.com/watch?v=Pn8ihqpiUQ0

Those people are just ignorant or are unable to understand things at that given point and it has nothing to do with religion anymore

I don't think much of religion. I can never know if there is a god or not, do i don't waste my time with this quastions. I try to stay true to my own path that i think is right, if some super being does not aproof with that it's its own fault.
Does this make any sense to you?

Science has proven theres no god why people still believe in this bs

scientology. where is scientology. why you are missing the most moronic of them all?
