Like, if you possess a pack of said pictures for your own use and don't distribute it, and occasionally look some up on the internet, how likely are you to be arrested? Also, how likely are you to have your laptop searched in a US airport?

Google it, it's illegal but generally not prosecuted much. They can make an issue of it if they want to, so it's best to simply not have it or be involved with it.
