The faux-hooliganism, faux-yuropean stuff can go straight to hell, but watching a soccer game in the US can be pleasant - it's a cheap sport to get into at the top level (in the US, at least), you can usually drink and grill and chill out in the parking lots beforehand, and as much as people want to shit on the quality, it's world's better than it was 4-5 years ago.

The fact is, it doesn't get any better or less cringey if the sport doesn't get support in the US. Just go to a local game and support them, even if it's 4th-tier amateur.
