Which one, Cred Forums?

Top.

If I'm gonna watch scenery chewed, I'll take it fully devoured.

I prefer elaborate character arcs, so There Will Be Blood.

No Country is still fucking top shelf though.

top:cinema
bottom:movie

they are both good. i cant pick just one

there will be blood.

>inb4 an 8yo asks why people compare these movies.

I'd say top is better overall, but I think I enjoy bottom more. If that makes sense...

Well...One will drink your milk shake. The other will make you call heads or tails.

No Country For Old Men

TWBB is good too, but nowhere near as rewatchable plus it's slow and dramatically overwrought

Actually a tough choice, but I'd say There will be blood.

Or are you asking us to choose between Chigurh and Plainview?

Bane?

TWBB for having a GOAT soundtrack.

...

Still can't believe they accidentally fucked up the names of the movies and they got switched at release, good on the directors coming together and realizing it still worked great with the wrong names.

fucking this...

you either agree that no country is better, or you admit you didn't understand sheriff bell's monologue at the end of it

the monologue is 11th grade level shit

TWBB is pure literally genius

CHRISTMAS SKINS WHENNNNNNNNNNN
>SANTA ROADHOG
>ELF TORB
>SANTA FUCKING ROADHOG

>mfw they actually make more sense switched around
>mfw I have no face

Chigger

TWBB bc of Daniel Day Lewis and Paul Dano

bottom, like OP

I just rewatched No Country. It's spellbinding. I don't even know why I like it so much, but I find it captivating. Once I start watching a scene I have to watch the whole movie.

Such a random miracle that these movies opened so closely to each other, and they feel forever entwined.

I consider TWBB the best movie of the 21st century, and NCFOM is probably top 5 as well.

>There Will Be Blood is ingenious and deep and not posturing at all.

One makes my ears bleed and the other is watchable
So no country by a fucking mile, maybe if blood didnt have such a shitty soundtrack and sound mixing

>Is, uh, Carson Wells there?
>...Not in the sense that you mean. You need to come and see me.
>Who is this?
>You know who it is. You need to talk to me.
>I don't need to talk to you.
>I think you do. Do you know where I'm going?
>Why would I care where you're going?
>I know where you are.
>Yeah, where am I?
>You're in the hospital across the river, and that's not where I'm going. Do you know where I'm going?
>Yeah, I know where you're going.
>Alright.
>You know she won't be there.
>It doesn't make any difference where she is.
>So what you goin' up there for?
>...You know how this is going to turn out, don't you?
>...Nope.
>I think you do. So this is what I'll offer: you bring me the money and I let her go. Otherwise she's accountable, the same as you. That's the best deal you're gonna get. I won't tell you can save yourself, because you can't.
>Yeah I'm gonna bring you something alright. I decided to make you a special project of mine, you ain't gonna have to come look for me at all.
>click

Would sugar have let her go if he brought the money?

I think so?

>liking TWBB
Chigurh diggy doo

There will be Blood
I wish someone had told me it was a brilliant comedy
That last scene I nearly died laughing

ITT: Everyone likes the meme movie and not the actual depressing one because everyone here is a sensitive faggot.

But why do they?

>There Will be Blood
>I DRINK YOUR MEMESHAKE!!!
Yep, sure looks like movie of the millennium to me.

I couldn't figure out what was wrong with No Country the first time that I watched it. After talking with a friend, I found that it's because the movie essentially has no score.

So I'll go with Blood.

Yeah. He said he would.

What I don't understand (and I'm probably being retarded, I haven't watched it in a long time) is why he killed the guys who hired him?

>mfw finally understanding it on my second watch

Sheriff Ed Tomm was only the best performance of 21st century

2007 was such a great year for film

I like No Country a bit more if only for every scene with Anton Chigurh

he was pissed that they sent Woody Harrelson after him and that they gave another transciever to the mexicans to find the money.

He took it as an insult that they'd use another tool when according to him they'd already selected the best one

I know right?
I don't get everything single thing going on with it, but it's just so great to rewatch.
Reminds me of watching the Sopranos and catching new things on every run.

Between the two, the only major complaint I have is the first 15 minutes of Blood. It's so slow. The only interesting part was the creepy droning. The mining and picking scenes are so agonizing.

Please explain it to me.

Every scene with Tommy Lee Jones is totally captivating. The ending will always give me chills

>tfw you feel over matched ;__;

Me no understando.

Explain monologue to heathen, oh enlightened one.

Years ago I would have said TWBB because it really is a beautiful piece of cinema.

But No Country I think made the bigger mark on the world. I still think about it and revisit it every so often, still here people talk about it too. It's just insanely good.

>Dat use of no fucking music at all during the entire movie
>Dat tension when Anton tracks Moss down at the hotel.

Turns out everything was just a dream that the sheriff had :^)

It was all worth it to see this scene

This datsu

>Turns out everything was just a dream that the sheriff had :^)
That's literally the most retarded thing that I've heard all day.

Kinda felt bad for Eli in this scene. Like what the fuck was the old fucks problem?

classic Paul Dano

It's funny how in the book he ended up looking like he cheated his wife even though he was only trying to help a girl and his wife hated him after he died.

>you will never be bludgeoned to death by a bowling pin

>No Country for Old Men

The biggest blue balls in cinema.

>I prefer elaborate character arcs, so There Will Be Blood.
There are no real character arcs in TWBB. That's sort of the point.

I'll go with NCFOM, but both are overrated.

"This really is no country for old men"

Holy shit.

>no character arcs in TWBB
>Daniel is the same as when he started in that hole

A change of circumstances is not the same as a character arc. He's the same monomaniacal void throughout the entire film.
