I think Trigun would make a great live action Western movie. Most of the series is in desert with uncomplicated buildings, most of which could be props. Most of the budget could be put into special effects and the more sci-fi stuff.

King Piccolo was the peak of the entire show, the build up finally paying off, the years of training finally put to the test. Planetes could actually work as a western thing, though its long form storytelling would probably take better to a high budget miniseries than a single movie.
