Very different films but they're some I've watched lately

Amelie is awful. It's tumblr core and just plain mediocre. The whole plot is based on that same carpe diem message we've already seen thousands of times, and the protagonist is le quirky french girl. Meme cinematography is also an aspect it's known for: every frame is fucking green or red. If it wasn't french people wouldn't even care about this shit, but now it's considered one of the greatest movies of the century.

It's a beautiful movie that is exceptionally positive and optimistic. It's a breath of fresh air for those who aren't cynics where everything has to be dark and brooding. It has received both critical and public acclaim and deservedly so.

not an argument

Why are these, Downfall and Das Boot always the first European movies Americans watch?

100% agree with this.

And I enjoy Cred Forums.

>no city of lost children
truly plebcore in this bitch

The lives of others, ludwig and das boot

Run Lola Run

It's so good that even people who are turned off by foreign subtitles can enjoy it.

The Hunt

essential madskino

that one swedish flick where they make music off everything

99 cents

it's quite good for what it is, but it's also the ultimate girl movie, so you may not like it.

Because they are good, well known movie? Also helps due to the topic of Downfall & Das Boot (WW2) is something interesting for the general public

Bump for Amelie hate

Euro Trip

>Pan's Labyrinth
>Kino

Get out

Amelie is ten times more kino

>no French new wave posted

literally the most entry level of European films next to Fellini

I don't understand how it hasn't been mentioned

Goddamn boring and uninspiring. Relies on gimmicks and Hollywood-parody too heavily. Breathless is good, though.
