the purpose of angel's egg was to show that you can have a coherent plot without the use of dialogue, it just has a standard christianity theme

Snowtown

...

Oh shit this film is terrifying.

Snowtown
Probably the coldest town I've ever seen

Well Im christian in a way so maybe thats why it affected me

The Elephant Man.

>"I wish I could sleep like normal people..."
>"I am NOT an elephant! I AM NOT AN ANIMAL! I am a HUMAN BEING... I am... a man..."

Bump, post more please I want to be completely devastated

If you want to be devastated, why don't you ask your wife about who the father of your kid is?

Jokes on you, I will probably never even come close to having a gf let alone having a wife and kids hehe got you

Texhnolyze

Time of the Wolf

This is one of the few movies where i actually felt ill after watching it

If you don't fall for the face meme this film does literally nothing and it doesn't say much of value about children and war that other films haven't already done.

This was unrealistic

They would attack our submarines before atracking any major cities

One does not simply attack submarines. There's a fuck of a lot of ocean for them to hide in.

Probably the thinking would be a decapitating strike breaking the chain of command, leaving the sub commanders to decide what to do. The Soviets would bank on the subs deciding against destroying more of humanity for no reason.

Dude have you even seen it? The fucking rape of the girl, piles of bodies, the sacking of the town and church. The goddamn ambush and the use of real fucking machinegun ammo and artillery!

But hey, each his own, i was fucking spent after it

I love this movie. I wish I could watch it again but I can't. It is too sad.

My Dog Skip

>it doesn't say much of value about children and war that other films haven't already done.

The fact that you set this kind of standard to a film is absolutely ridiculous and shows how ignorant you are.

There IS nothing new "to say" and the fact that you think films are supposed to be some kind of learning experience is kind of repulsive.

>The fact that you set this kind of standard to a film is absolutely ridiculous and shows how ignorant you are.

That isn't the standard I hold on it of my own accord, that is what I'm told is good/ground breaking about the film in the first place. Certain films have reputations before you see them and they can either live up to it or not."the child's experience in warfare."

As to your second redundant statement, why venture outside of the most obvious and easy to grasp films if not for new types of knowledge and emotional experiences? I'm not saying that should be the only reason, but its at least part of why people want to see things that aren't already in the IMDB top 100 or whatever.

What? That is part of the purpose of a film.

Knowledge and emotional experiences are totally different. There is almost no knowledge to be gained from any fictional film. In fact any film that does try to do that will most likely be a pretentious piece of shit.

>"the child's experience in warfare."

And how does Come and See in any way fail in depicting this in a cinematic and emotional way?

t. pleb who doesn't understand the film medium

Films can depict human experiences, that doesn't mean a film 1) needs to do that to be great 2) Needs to have a message attached to said human experiences

Not the other guy but you're a fucking idiot, name one movie that's not an incoherent avantgarde mess where you don't learn anything.

I put together a nuclear holocaust marathon for my oldest son to show him some of the best of the genre.

Threads
The Day After
The Road (I know it wasn't nuclear, but it fits)
When the Wind Blows
War Games (needed to end on an up note where it doesn't happen for once)

2001: A Space Odyssey
Amour
The Tree of Life
Mulholland Drive
Eyes Wide Shut
Possession
Under the Skin

>tree of life

These final hours

Of course all your answers are incorrect. Except Amour, haven't watched that but it's Haneke so you're probably wrong on that one too.

Now that I think about it, I should have included Atomic Cafe.

Your mother's homemade porn

Jesus christ kiddo, what are you talking about?

Go ahead and tell the class what you "learned" from watching Possession or Under the Skin. We promise we won't laugh, this is a safe space.

>And how does Come and See in any way fail in depicting this in a cinematic and emotional way?

I disagree. There really isn't an argument I can give for that we saw the same film and to me it just wasn't compelling in that regard.

I think films can convey knowledge and not be pretentious it just depends on a lot of factors.

Uhh I got a date in 15 minutes so... he heh

World at War.

...

...

Is it as bad as people say? I wanna watch it but i dont know if i wanna sit through what seems such a sad film (I'm a sucker for animals)

...

...

...

If you are a sucker for animals then it WILL depress the fuck out of you. That being said, it is a really good movie and I'd try to watch it early in the day so you still have stuff to do afterwards.
