Honestly I think it would be very hard for any show to follow up the kind of first season this one had. It also doesn't help that Email directed and wrote all of the episodes this season, he's too close to the material for it to be the best that it can be, you can't really be objective when you're that close to what you're working on.
This finale wasn't nearly as good as the first seasons but I think it worked as well as it could have with everything it had to work with from this season. Although I believe we could have had a better cliff hanger on par with the one season one left us with

So many people are up against the fence on how she looks that I know. In some scenes she looks good, in others like absolute garbage. So weird.

She can act, it's just they make her come off as a geek in some scenes, in others she's hardcore Miss FBI agent, she sends mixed signals to the audience. The scene where she was looking for Darlene and her boy toy, that anxiety on her face to find them was well played by her. Then when she shows Darlene what they know, she was calm and collective, it's weird she goes from total badass bitch FBI to scared lonely geek, so it sends signals sometimes like her acting is off, it's really not.

If you read Esmail's interviews it was influenced by the Arab spring and such revolutions. Even if you do have something to replace it with, there's always this awkward period afterwards where different groups grab for power and often things don't get better(Iranian revolution for example).

When he believes something, we believe in it with him. If Elliot’s confused about something, which he oftentimes is, we’re just as confused as he is. And if he’s in contradiction to us, which he will say to us, then we’re opposing him. I love the relationship we’ve created with Elliot. It’s a little unlike anything I’ve personally seen. I think it’s in a weird way its own dynamic and it’s allowed us to create these scenes where you can direct attention where you otherwise wouldn’t have if we didn’t have that offscreen relationship with him.

The recent Esmail interview seems to suggest that he's straight up in love with Elliot which is supposed to fuck with how we perceive him as the bad guy.

FBI had been tailing Angela. They picked up some of F Soc from forensic evidence at the end of the world party and from that one legged guy in the hospital. They had stuff on Romero. Don't know how they figured out Trenton and Mobley.

It was just a map of associations; they didn't have a smoking gun for all persons of interest, nor did they know the whys or hows. They still think Tyrell is behind it all.

2nd Point: Thematically Dom sees herself in Darlene, therefore her telling her she's special fulfils her own desire to be special. She doesn't know if Darlene is actually special, but she can use that line as a tactic to get her to open up.

Or maybe she just wants to tell Darlene something that nobody ever told her.

But the way his father was flashing and fading while Tyrell remained solid is a pretty big hint that he's actually real.

The pacing is pretty special (on purpose, everything contributes to a weird armosphere in this show) but despite having myself thinked the same thing you do, I don't think that's actually true.
Just think about any character and you'll see how they all either evolved or revealed something big.

He's definitely real - Sam knew everyone would think he was fake and Elliot even mentioned it, then got shot for it.

You're forgetting last season's "shocking reveal". Everyone (everyone here at least) had figured out that Mr Robot isn't real several episodes before the season ended.

The penny also drops for Darlene that it's way bigger than she ever realised. She saw talk of stage 2 in the DA IRC but didn't know what to make of it.
