VHS tape

My name is Alex and my Great Grandma died last Thursday. In her will she left me a casino token, a 16 year old bottle of coke, and a VHS player. I like to play my tapes. back to topic. Inside the VHS player was a tape so I plugged the VCR in and had hell of a time getting the tape out. The tape looks exactly like that picture. The slot where the name is exposed to go is just nothing and has residue of what looked like was a sticker on there. So I plop the tape into my tv which has a VCR already in it. Then hit play and get some weird orange screen with a notice to talk to my doctor before watching this tape. But they message only appears for about 3 seconds before my tv shuts off. This never happened before. So after a few more tries all result in turning my tv off and with other tapes it works just fine. Does anybody have a solution?

That's spooky. Can you fast-forward to a point beyond where your TV shuts off and watch from there?

A video cassette shouldn't be able to turn off your telly, but if the VCR is built into the TV, I dunno. I'd suggest trying a different TV and different VCR.

I am unable to fast forward and when i tried it turned the time code thing when you fast-forward red. I have the only tv with a VCR built in and the VCR it came in. My mother forgot to grab the AV cables so I cannot plug it in to any other tv in my house

Im working on uploading a couple pictures

Here is a picture of the tape and yes I take my pictures from Ifunny im too lazy to hook my phone up to my computer

Your TV turns off and the VCR stops playing? I assume you can't just turn the telly back on and continue to watch.

I just took a bunchy of pictures and yes I cannot resume where I left off and it rewinds the tape a bit

Here is my tv in an idle state

By the side of the tape cover flap thing (pic related), there should be a little button. Pressing and holding this button in will allow you to move the flap back and reveal the magnetic tape. I predict doing this will show that the tape has become twisted and mangled (but not broken). You might still be able to save it.

Open it up as above and turn one of the tape wheels manually so that the tape is fed out, and untangle the tape, just straighten it out with your fingers and lay it flat against the cassette and then pull it back into the cassette by turning one of the wheels manually again.

I know it says do not touch the tape inside but this is the only way I know of to salvage a jammed cassette. You might want to make sure your fingers aren't all greasy before handling the tape.

...

I just did what you said and the tape appears to be fine. No bends, creases, its on track. Im gonna make a quick video of what happens when it goes into the tv

FYI I just checked and the button is on the other (right hand) side of the cassette, not where I circled.

what's going on in this thread?

i feel like you're becoming part of the subplot to a generic urban horror story, be suspicious if attractive women suddenly become a part of your life , but seriously though, this is spooky as shiz

I just recorded a tape swap but its too large to upload here.I will find a place to upload it then show what happens when I put the tape in

While I upload the video I will continue to post picture of the tape and stuff here

The tape might be twisted further down the tape, or I guess it could be jamming because a load of dust or something got into the cassette (maybe while it was being read by a dirty old VCR), and now it's sticking.

You might want to invest in pic related, it's a tape that goes into your VCR and cleans the head. I don't think this would solve your problem if it's playing other tapes fine though.

If you have a steady hand and you're not afraid to completely open it up, here's a couple of videos that I think might help.

here is the video. Yea I know I recorded the wrong way so next I will do it the correct way

It's an exercise tape. Your relative thought you were fat and need to shed some mass. Otherwise your grandmother caught you jerking off to people exercising and thought your dick needs a last hurrah from her.

>before this or any exercise routine
user, I....

Yeah I'm pretty sure the tape is sticking, and when the VCR can't move it on it just clicks off.

If you have a spare cassette you could replace the outer casing of the broken vid with a more modern casing that won't stick, as the guy does in the vid here . All you need is a Philips head screwdriver and a spare cassette (and a bit of patience and a steady hand).

I know its an exercise tape but it still angers me a bit that I cannot play it

2spooky

The tape is cursed. No good can come from this

If it's an 80s exercise vid like pic related then OP should get to watch it.

Im uploading a video of the tape going into the vcr.

you must free me from my plastic prison oooOOOOOOOOOOOoooooo

what the fuck user

Can't wait to see what pay-off OP has lined up for us. Plane scene maybe?

Just finished putting the tape in 2 times to show it rewinds itself and shuts the tv off. Currently uploading

some faggot thinks this is /x/

Nope. She didn't wear glasses
Upload is at 40% so like 5 more minutes

Finally got it to upload.

weird bro

try it with other TVs and VHS players

sell it on ebay as a haunted VHS, you can make bank on it.

>yfw the "exercise routine" is you putting the video in and out of the VCR
Do you feel healthier yet?

I just tried it on the only other tv the has a vcr and it. Made the sound of the tape spinning. Then the tv shut off and took me a bit to get the tape out.

Yes my arm lost 2.5% of its fat mass. I feel healthy already

That's a Jane Fonda workout tape. I used to touch myself to one when I was a kid. Don't bother fixing it, just watch it on youtube if you want to fap.

Im just trying to figure out why it is doing that. None other of my tapes do that. excep this weird one
