You knew his what his sense of humor would bring to certain bits, but his show was never predictable. When he got bored with something, he moved on to something new. The Paris and Scotland weeks are some of the most memorable television shows I've ever watched.

The phone calls (with Josh Robert Thompson a.k.a. Geoff) near the end of the show's run were almost always not just funny but hysterical.

None of those shows deserve a nom, but out of all of them he was the best even though I don't like his show.

Maher has a much better format, but I hate him personally.

This. At least Maher invites conservatives onto his show, and will actively defend them against his liberal guests when they start attacking them overly much. He fucking hates PC bullshit and always has, and even if you don't agree with his politics, Real Time is a decent gauge of what liberals are thinking, the sane ones and the insane ones (the latter usually being mocked on the show).

Any Given Wednesday confused the fuck out of me with its marketing. It seemed like a sports show according to that stupid ad they kept running on their website (plus the name of the show alludes to Any Given Sunday obviously), but he had guests like Jonah Hill and Leo Dicaprio and the like.

The thing is the writers make their point of view defensible by visually citing examples and showing their sources. If you disagree, that's fine. But at no point do they use the propaganda technique of pretending to be objective or saying things that aren't true.
