Oh wow, I positively adored Force Awakens. It was simply everything I dreamed of

>Oh wow, I positively adored Force Awakens. It was simply everything I dreamed of.

Mike with Max's haircut will never not be funny.

Mike is a pleb who is incapable of deep critical thought or analysis.
Jay is a hipster who is incapable of earnestly enjoying a film.
Rich is the full grown crack baby they keep around for menial labor.

what about the other three?

eat a dick, hipster.

This was pretty disappointing.

Usually, when I leave cinema after a bad movie, I feel empty and useless and like nothing matters anymore. When I left cinema after Force Awakens, I was genuinely triggered.

Not an argument.

>Imagine Mike with the personality of Max Landis
>But like he has his own body
Nuoh my gawd

...

How do you think Rich reconciles the fact that he's a 40 year old man who works for minimum wage and has to rent an apartment (rather than have a house) in Milwaukee of all fucking places, eating fast food as his diet and fucking a physically retarded femnazi? For years he had to work menial construction jobs to make ends meet, with the low point of his life involving something as mundane as a parking ticket.

Rich had a difficult life growing up--his mother was a crack whore and his father was absent most of the time. His loving grandmother tried, but she placated young Rich with videogames and dreams of a better life. Dreams that Rich was never able to cash in on. The constant failures in his life shaped him as the Don Quixote figure we have today, an empty casket of ruination and aspirations.

A man with no training, no education, no real life experience tries to make his voice heard. This echoes the warnings of the great capitalists of the 19th century, showing that, given power, the proles will replace society with an empty shell of itself. Reflecting this, Rich only brings his jaded, cynical outlook on life to the table.

Mike uplifted him from his sorry state, but even then Mike and Jay keep him around so they have an easy source of schadenfreude. While Mike and Jay make a comfortable living doing what they love, Rich remains a punching bag. They keep him around as a literal reminder of the failures of Generation X, encapsulated by Rich's love of shitty grunge rock and old school FPSes like Doom.

Many nights Rich does nothing but play videogames, sometimes playing live to a crowd of people even more pathetic than him. Previously Recorded gives him solace that no matter how much of a fuckup he is, he will never be on the same tier as the retards that join him every Wednesday and Sunday night. This is the only thing that keeps Rich from giving up the ghost. Not his girlfriend. Not his childhood friends. But the mere feeling that he is better than somebody.

I genuinely hope that the RLM team has had time to rethink their stance on TFA for the Plinkett review (if it ever comes out).

I liked it upon first viewing, but I also watched it in imax 3D and was also blinded by the blatant nostalgia porn the movie constantly threw at the viewer (except for the music between the very beginning and very end, ironically).

When I watched it a second time in theaters (that time in 2D), I started noticing things that bothered me.

I ruminated over the movie for a while and attempted to break it down in my head and came up with a lot of stuff that bothered me.

Saw it a third time on my laptop (torrent), confirmed previous personal grievances and discovered a few new ones.

My conclusion: As a standalone movie, without "Star Wars" in the title, it works fine as a generic space adventure film from Disney.

But as a Star Wars film, it's a fairly big let down in quite a few aspects. The makers simply used nostalgia (and other Disney tricks) to distract the viewer from realizing upon first viewing that the movie is actually a giant pile of disappointment and cheap screenwriting that disrespects the original trilogy that it was supposed to continue.

tl;dr
TFA was a giant nostalgia soft reboot designed by Disney to get old and new fans alike to hop aboard the new marketing train.

I hope Plinkett tears it to shreds.

But jay isn't a hipster. There's plenty of mainstream movies he enjoys

>and fucking a physically retarded femnazi?

What makes you say Karen is a Feminazi? Did she go full SJW Retard on a recent stream?

He """"enjoys""" them ironically.

They won't, user. They were most likely paid by Disney in order to keep their mouths shut. Look at the amount of shilling and happy tears from Mike.

Mike went to Paris?

...with Patreon money?

What are you basing this on besides your headcanon? Name one (1) example of him "ironically" enjoying a mainstream movie

You're probably right, but a man can dream.

I bet they have.
Most people over 20 who saw TFA liked it because of how bad the shitquels were. The bar was set so low it was almost impossible to come out of the theater not liking it.

However, it doesn't necessarily make it a good movie. Given time to breathe and another re-watching there's probably a lot of stuff to complain about, and not to mention that as you said it relied heavily on nostalgia.
I say probably because I don't really have an interest in rewatching it.

That being said, VII was still a better movie than I,II, and III. And you're all just going to have to deal with that.

Mike got a free ticket to France because of a film festival that wanted to show the Phantom Menace review.

That was Denmark.

Mike got invited to the Copenhagen Film Festival to screen Plinkett.

Mike never said how much of his travel and lodging cost the festival paid for.

Also, that way was before Patreon.

>That was Denmark.

>Mike got invited to the Copenhagen Film Festival to screen Plinkett.
Oh right. I'm confusing him with Mega64 who got a free ticket to France once

Fucking tryhard kids, we get it, you're desperate as fuck and praise shit and talk shit about decent movies to pretend to know better than others, you're getting nobody with that.

Mike is partying with bitches in Paris.

When did Karen show herself to be a feminazi? Every time I saw her on stream she just talked about nerdy shit. I haven't watched in like two months though. What happened?

That isnt mike you tard

Oh I totally agree. TFA was better than any of the prequels overall (except the prequels still had awesome music, which was ironically all that was really good about them besides memes and maybe a few select scenes/performances). That's more than likely a huge part of what contributed to my initial blindness to TFAs flaws.

Without going into the many things I didn't like about TFA (after rewatching, breaking down with my limited layman abilities), here are some the things I DID like:

>Shots from inside X-Wing canopies during battle over Starkiller base was neat for 3D (but only neat, nothing more)
>Practical sets were cool
>Costumes and makeup were cool
>A lot of shooting was done on location or on practical sets
>Harrison Ford didn't just phone in his performance. He actually performed adequately to make me believe he was Han Solo again, if only for a moment.
>The relationship between Han and Chewie felt at least somewhat like it was from the OT
>They killed Han, for his character's good AND Harrison Ford's good
>The OTs main cast didn't overshadow TFAs main cast

yes it is you stupid google

> it took three viewings to draw that conclusion
You might be border line retarded.

>TFA was better than any of the prequels overall
Enough of this shitty argument. Just because you hate X from the prequels and love Y from TFA doesn't make it a superior movie to a trilogy. What the fuck is that supposed to prove other than showing your age? The prequels were great and showed wide imagination, unlike The Force "I wanna be A New Hope so bad xD" Awakens.

Fuck off.

Look at this contrarian everyone!

And look at this moron who can't come up with his own opinions and beliefs because he's too afraid.

This isn't plebbit, child. You can say TFA is bad. No downboats here.

>You might be border line retarded
Or my standards were set so low that I didn't want to see it at first.

>The prequels were great
That's the contrarian statement you mongoloid retard.

It's not because they were great. The only hate is generated from overgrown manchild and opinions from places like youtube, reddit, and 9gag. I suggest you go to one of these cancerous zones if you wish to continue this discussions, but I won't be following you. :^)

I can think of a handful of things I liked about the prequels, and most the complaints about them really amount to just nitpicks.

TFA was so completely bland and had almost nothing memorable about it.

>How do you think Rich reconciles the fact...etc.
He doesn't have to worry about any of that anymore. RIP Rich Evans

...

>TFA was so completely bland and had almost nothing memorable about it.
This

After the Force Awakens HitB, I haven't watched these plebs since.

Actually, since TFA I haven't browsed Cred Forums either because of the facebook shithole it's become. Ironic how a bad movie can completely ruin everything.

As for RLM, they're unfunny plebs. TFA was good. My ass.

I agree. I use to watch them religiously but now I don't give a shit. Out of all of the movies they criticized, they let TFA off the hook? It's ripe for nitpicking...

Same here

Say what you will about Landis, but he makes for a decent guest foley. I just wish when he comes back around, Mike gets drunk and flings some spicy bangers at him ala Josh/Rich in that one Best of the Worst.

Rich's girlfriend is ok she can hang with the boys, good pasta though just correct the feminazi part

I agree that TFA was bland.

I also agree that the prequels were memorable, but for the wrong reasons. It was precisely because the prequels were bad that they were memorable. Thus they became infamous.

Ep I, TPM: Bland, uninteresting space politics that didn't present the plight of the people of Naboo in an engaging way that would have made the viewer sympathetic to their suffering that they were supposedly enduring at the hands of the Trade Federation and its blockade. Don't forget stoic, emotionless Qui Gon Jinn, who revealed to young Anakin how the Force is strong in people with high counts of microscopic organisms, essentially trivializing the grandeur and mystery behind the Force.

Ep II, ATOC: Anakin was a creepy, perverted, emo, homicidal, rage-filled, impertinent, megalomaniac. A loving father-son type relationship was implied between Obi-Wan and Anakin but never shown. In fact, the relationship shown in the movie was the antithesis of what was implied by the dialogue. The roles of Padme and Anakin were completely reversed in their forbidden romance. Padme was the stoic prude while Anakin was the lustful tempter. Padme's station as a politician should have held little to no foreseeable restrictions on her personal life and romances. Anakin's obligation to adhere to the stringent Jedi code should have warred with his feelings for Padme and made him more adverse to engaging in an illicit affair with a politician. And their romance developed awkwardly.

Ep III, ROTS: Anakin goes full emo. Palpatine goes full monster mash. Windu goes full fried chicken. Padme goes full preggers and dedders. Majority of Republic goes full retard and blindly accepts the shift in government structure from democratic republic to totalitarian dictatorship

I still liked TFA

Do you not pay attention to movies until the third time around?

I liked TFA and you guys should stop pretending Star Wars is some grandiose shakespearean work of art, is a sci-fi movie made to sell toys and checking those points TFA was good and most importantly it erased the gargabe prequels and rebooted the franchise

As I explained in a previous post. I simply set my standards very low.

Does anybody know Jay's shoe size?

I want to send him a pair of high-end running shoes.

TFA wasn't bad, it just wasn't the 'step up' everyone hoped it would be. It suffered from over hype and over marketing.

Although the marketing was fucking genius level shit. Everyone saw that movie. Was it a great movie? Hell no. Did it make 2.1 billion fucking dollars. Yep.

It's a solid 6.5/10 rehash of ANH and not worth debating. It's better than 2 and 3 and more or less on par with RotJ quality wise. It sets up what COULD be an interesting ep. 8 but we have to wait and see if it sucks or not.

/threading my own post because fuck you

Essentially, it's a matter of how I choose to view the movie. Do I sit back and see if I can derive any enjoyment from it whatsoever, or do I try to critically analyze it and intentionally pick out its flaws?

cont.

I assume the shift in government was accepted because Palpatine had been manipulating the Senate for years and years, even before he was elected Chancellor. The problem is, the movies only make a half-assed attempt at including politics in the story when it's clearly supposed to be the major backdrop in which all events take place. The prequels couldn't decide whether they wanted to appeal to kids or an older audience of teens or adults.

There were so many weird juxtapositions of teen/adult-oriented content (space politics, brutal deaths/mutilations [Schmi Skywalker and Anakin lit on fire specifically], killing children, etc.) as compared to kid-oriented content (pod racing, CG rendered action sequences, ham-handed attempts at slapstick humor, etc.).

> Majority of Republic goes full retard and blindly accepts the shift in government structure from democratic republic to totalitarian dictatorship

Sounds relevant and familiar...

And unintentional, but you're still correct.

>Supernova 2016

I have absolutely no hope for the sequels because of the directors.

It's all downhill from here lads.

Rogue One already looks better than TFA.

...

Where the fuck are your personal boundaries?

Do you think Jay would like it if I sent him a high-end escort?

I noticed they've been giving alot of shitty movies a pass recently. It seems if they're not outright excited about them then they're lukewarm, but never hard on them.

Mariah Carey gets shoes sent to her by fans all the time>

I'm starting to think it's cynicism which leads to extremely low standards.

They seem to give a pass to movies that aren't AS shitty as most of the other unbearable schlock that's churned out on a regular basis.

>prequel apologists from ribbit still permasad about the force awakens being the better movie.
Your tears are delicious.

>I liked it upon first viewing, but I also watched it in imax 3D and was also blinded by the blatant nostalgia porn the movie constantly threw at the viewer (except for the music between the very beginning and very end, ironically).
You were "blinded" because you can't sustain an opinion on your own. You jump bandwagons the second you hear someone else's, or you have trouble paying attention for more than 12 seconds.

That's ironic, considering reddit absolutely loves the prequels and defends them nail and tooth.

How many times is Jay going to remind us that he knows what the word "schlock" means, and the fact that he knows when a movie is "schlock?"

schlock

How did Max Landis become part of RLM's lore?

they crapped on american ultra which led to a twitter shitstorm which led to max coming to milwaukee for an interview & botw appearance

Mike and Jay shit on American Ultra during an episode of HITB, and Max Landis had a meltdown on Twitter.

Mike extended an invitation to come defend himself in person, and Max accepted.

type faster next time ha ha ha

>You're a bandwagon jumper, durr hurr

Nope. I simply went in with low expectations, not looking to criticize the film, but rather to see if I could find any enjoyment at all. Thus, I wasn't actively trying to see past any cheap distractions.

>from Disney.

See, this is the fucking point. Most of you fuckers hate it because "le evul Disney jewz ruining muh artistic star wars!!!!" when Star Wars was just a fucking moneymaking scheme by George Lucas. He kicked out all the creatives that made the original trilogy great decades ago.

You hate the movie for petty reasons outside of its own context. The Force Awakens had more heart and soul in it than any movie the series since Empire

I lol'd cause this is true. i still love them though

>lol I just turned my brain off
What a faggot.

You accuse me of turning my brain off when you're the one who's throwing ad hominems left and right.

I think you need to check the definition of ad-hominem instead of embarrassing yourself.
Changing your opinion like that is a sure sign of someone without conviction and critical thinking.

>TFA was a giant nostalgia soft reboot designed by Disney to get old and new fans alike to hop aboard the new marketing train.

There is nothing wrong with this.

THESE MEN ARE PRAWNSSSSSS

I remember one pre rec stream Rich was talking about how he stepped on a nail or injured himself on a nail somehow and when they asked why he didn't go to a doctor he said he said he had to pay rent and couldn't afford it

JUST

Need your rare Mikes/Susans

You were attacking me instead of the opinion I posted. And you still are.

I changed my opinion expressly because I engaged in critical thinking. It happened to be after the fact.

Do you have your own opinion on the movie that we can actually discuss, or are you just that obsessed with the attempt to prove someone else is less intelligent than you are?

If you respond to this with anything other than your opinion on the movie, I'll happily ignore you. Of course, you'll probably take that as an affront and try to twist it around to say that I lost a pointless debate about whether or not I have a predilection for following the opinion of the majority.

Oh, and even if I have an opinion that aligns with a majority, it does not mean that I did not arrive at that opinion of my own volition.

This is actually true.

Although Jay is the most bearable of them.

Mike has turned into a huge pleb (or maybe he always was but it only came to show now)

>Mike was in Denmark without me knowing

What other three?

it was 4+ years ago

I've been living here for 25 years

they're probably going to hammer on how safe the movie was. its the easiest criticism.

I'm thinking it's basically gonna be the same criticism he had for JJ Abrams Star Trek only even lighter because Mike is such a fucking Trekkie fuck he couldn't care less about Star Wars

Why are you posting your vacation photos in every RLM thread, user?

How the hell can't he afford basic living with that Patreon money?

Solid argument

Do you guys think the rest of the RLM crew resents Mike for being the reason they're (relatively) famous/popular?

During the Return of the Jedi commentary track Mike says "I wish the prequels didn't exist" and Rich says that if the prequels didn't exist none of them would be there doing what they're doing right now (referring to the Plinket commentaries).

I loved TFA. I know that it's just nostalgia, but it's one of the only films that made me feel like a kid again. I just can't hate that film. Some of the references they made to the original trilogy made me roll my eyes though, like the chess board in Millenium Falcon.

I see it like this - your first movie can be genericish and nostalgia driven, if it gives you a spring board to do more original stuff.
I'm willing to allow TFA. If the sequels are basically the same though, then I have no patience for it.
They obviously need to have money for things to go ahead, and if you take too big a risk on the first one, it might possibly sink and guarantee that nothing else will come later.

RIP Rich Evans

We miss you buddy.

I can't believe he's actually fucking dead

it wasnt the airplanes,
it was beauty that killed the beast.

Disney's check cleared. The Plinkett TFA review is never coming.

People like you really exist?

I love your pain. You deserve it.

I really, really, really, really don't like this picture.

How about this variant?

>3 viewings
your love has blinded you

No wonder Rich killed himself

I really wanted to enjoy TFA, but it felt so bland and forced.
The characters don't feel real and all those "nostalgia" moments don't ring to me because of how crafted and far from genuine they feel.
I hate JJ Abrahams and I do NOT understand how people can get caught in his pandering so easily.

...

>The characters don't feel real
That's the problem with modern movies in general, and the acting is horrible nowadays. All those young actors and actresses are only there for the looks and can't act for shit. This all probably began in late '00s.

thank you !
(the saber fight near the end was gud tho, cept finn shoulda died from the slash)

I wanted to enjoy ep. 7, wanted to cleanse the prequels and be able to enjoy star wars again. That didn't happen. Horribly written characters, unlikable and flat except maybe Finn. Just enough predictable sjw/girl power horseshit smothered in caked on fanservice. Some nice sets, decent visual sequences but star wars has always been about the characters and they completely fucked that up. Again, just like the prequels.

No. If they weren't doing RLM they'd all be living in homeless shelters now.

>it's an aidsmoby episode

Mike and Jay were running their own business before their youtube channel took off. In fact, the youtube success was sort of a fluke. They were doing just fine.

TFA felt like a Marvel movie to me.
The blandest, safestmovie with no passion and no vision.
Is it entertaining? Sure. I wasn't bored when I watched it.
Do I feel like ever watching it again? Not really.
Do I remember anything about it beside the general plot? No.
Do I feel attached to the new characters? No.

It could have been Avengers VI: Space Adventures.

I agree. Rey has almost no room to grow. She already knows how to use the Force, and whatever revelations Luke provides really won't offer much..."I'm your daddy, we have to learn special force powers to defeat the ultimate dark dark side origins...they are so really really bad bad bad, and started all of this. You and me kid, let's stop the ultimate bad bad baddies once and for all, but not really..."

But do we care? In terms of new stories that expand the reach are we seeing anything new? Not really.

I don't mind aids as the fourth wheel foil. I'd take him anyday over beardfat who just does not fit in.

Even Finn, while I agree he was the only one I felt sympathy for really (Rey was too perfect and Poe was barely there), didn't really work. Why would he suddenly switch sides after being indoctrinated for ~20 years? I get that he watched people die, but triggering a 180 degree switch and make him cheer for when his former brothers die? Seems contrived.

At this point in time people film their weddings with iphones. Mike and Jay would be in the homeless shelter with Rich now.

>At this point in time people film their weddings with iphones
Do random wedding guests with iphones also show up to weddings with microphones, lights, other gear to make the video look professional and not like something shot on an iphone?

Yes.

tfa was a fun movie

You realise that the money is split between all of them? And that a large portion of it goes on making videos?

will there be a new best of the worst today

also software license fees

My nigga Taub going strong.

lol

hee hee hee

That's easily not Mike.

You don't gift shoes to a man, Bob.

That's Mr. neighbor lady.

So will /tvpol/ ever admit it just "hates" TFA because the main leads are a woman and a negro or?

when it becomes the case, which it isn't

they're only symptomatic of deeper problems with the reboot

Ahhh, I see. "Symptomatic of deeper problems with the reboot."

So will /tvsjw/ ever admit it just "loves" TFA because the main leads are a woman and a negro or?

Guys did you hear about Rich Evans?

I heard there's some faggot on Cred Forums that keeps spamming that he's dead because this poor faggot seems to think spamming that is the height of epic maymay comedy. That guy, who I'm sure isn't you, is a faggot.

I hope you're not this upset at the wake.

xmen origins: wolverine

That's Mike that loves that one.

That's the new hipster thing. Sort of how they pretend to like rap. They want to seem both knowledgeable and down to earth so their top 10 movies will always be a 8 or 9 art house flicks and a token marvel movie or whatever.

RIP Rich Evens

thats not mike you retard

True Patricians hated it on the first viewing
