WTF I hate Rob Zombie now

He's going senile. RZ said exactly what he said.

Pic related is better than anything Carpenter put out.

Prince of Darkness is better than anything Zombie has put out and Prince of Darkness isn't even one of Carpenter's best films. Zombie is a hack.

Rob Zombie's Halloween II > any other Halloween film (except Season Of The Witch)

Does anyone have a link to the Zombie interview he's talking about? Every time I've seen him talk about his remake he mentions the conversation John's referring to.

Zombie was probably just disappointed that Carpenter didn't give a shit about what he had to say and he in turn was offended when Rob Zombie called him "cold" which is most likely a reasonable description

I'm fine with Carpenter not caring about anything anymore, that's his call, but he often comes across as a spiteful individual

The original is better than any of the sequels

>Halloween
>The Thing
>Escape from New York
>They Live
>Big Trouble in Little China
Your post triggered the fuck out me. Post a warning next time m8

>The film that was so bad it killed the franchise is the best one
Weak bait

How would you react if you were an A director with a C budget, and some edgy grimdark guy remakes your groundbreaking slasher-movie into a generic horror movie shitfest? It even has the redneck-hillybilly-inbred-retards trope that Zombie is fond of.

A cold reaction is what I'd call professional in that situation, having to watch someone bend over one of your greatest achievements in life and fucking it in the ass.

Look for a documentary about the Halloween series that was made in either 2015 or 2016. If Rob talked shit about John it must've been very recently.

There are many older interviews where John says that Rob is a friend and he would never bash a friend's work.

I disagree, the original really hasn't aged well and the characters were always unsympathetic cardboard nothings.

I just want him to do a Dead Space movie before he dies.
I know it'd be The Thing: in space, but I don't care. It'd be fucking amazing to see it in all its practical effects filled glory

I also want this to happen but we are talking about EA here.

No one's talking about Halloween Resurrection here.

oh man i'm glad this thread is up again. i was unable to call the guy who discarded modern cronenberg a faggot for discounting based eastern promises.

>the characters were always unsympathetic cardboard nothings.
But the characters in Rob Zombie's Halloween movies are worse in every way. At least the characters in the original Halloween were likeable, every character in every movie Rob Zombie has ever made is a vulgar hick.

>It'd be fucking amazing to see it in all its practical effects filled glory
That would be the only good thing about the movie.
I never played Dead Space and i don't think it has a great story, but Carpenter is still gonna fuck it.

is the season of the witch poster the new BvS-tier contrarian?

>Halloween Resurrection
That movie does not exist.

I haven't actually seen anyone post the clip from the Biography show.

TV shows edit shit and frame shit for optimal drama. Even a "documentary" channel does it. It was probably taken out of context.

RZ is a sarcastic person and JC is a crotchety old man. This was bound to happen.

>Rob Zombie
>edgy grimdark
You don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

I hope someone digs it up.

what is the best Halloween film and why is it Halloween H20?

>characters in the original Halloween were likeable
Fuck no, annoying as hell.
>every character in every movie Rob Zombie has ever made is a vulgar hick
At least they are characters and at least Michael and Loomis are actually kind of intriguing in Zombie's H2.

I'm pretty sure that liking Season Of The Witch is not contrarian at all.

Season's of the witch is a good halloween movie, stop being a little faggot.

only one of those movies is good and it's not Halloween or They Live.

Not that user but Zombie's entire schtick is "DUDE GORE, SWEARING, SEX, WEED AND HICKS LMAO!" I wouldn't call his work grimdark but it's really fucking edgy.

I'm going to guess it's from Halloween: The Inside Story since there also appears to be a Caddyshack: The Inside Story.

Hopefully this is it.
youtube.com/watch?v=SGd8kYC66Uc

H20 is awful.

I never understood why Zombie has a following as a director. He's fucking awful. He makes the least subtle garbage shit I've ever fucking seen. It's the the cheap tacky tabloid approach to horror. I pretty much consider him the Michael Bay of that genre. His approach is to throw shit at the wall and hope it works. Zombies Halloween 2 is literally one of the worst movies I've seen. It took me multiple times to even sit through all of it. Kept switching that shit off, and not because I was scared or whatever.

kys

>At least they are characters
They aren't, in Zombie's Halloween every character is a paper thin cliche.
>At least they are characters and at least Michael and Loomis are actually kind of intriguing in Zombie's H2.
I hated Rob Zombie's Halloween so much I haven't bothered watching H2 so I can't comment on it. I'll watch it this October.

BASED Carpenter is BASED

HOw can you say anything about the story if you didn't see how it got presented?

Man, you Rob Zombie fanboys really do have the worst taste. Every film that user listed is a masterpiece and Carpenter has made a bunch of other great films.

Did any of you see The Ward? It was so bad. Carpenter really has given up.

1:26:38

You forgot to post the best part of his response:

>I thought that he took away the mystique of the story by explaining too much about [Michael Myers]. I don’t care about that. He’s supposed to be a force of nature. He’s supposed to be almost supernatural. And he was too big. It wasn’t normal.
>he was too big.

Rob Zombie isn't a full-on hack. The ending to Devils Rejects is fucking amazing.

Basically he has moments of brilliance surmounted by stupid bullshit, which is odd because he does film so infrequently that you'd think he'd have time to work out the details.

With Devils Rejects, it's almost like he thought of the ending first and then had to write a script to get there in reverse...know what I mean?

That girl is norweigan

She literally says she's from Sweden you salmon-eating motherfucker

I c wut u did thar. c me smilin'?

norwegian here
i heard her swedish accent from her first words

Zombie is an underrated director. He's only hated by plebs.

both zombie and carpenter are good directors, carpenter is the better of the two however.

Both have made god-tier films (Devils rejects, lords of salem, thing, big trouble in little china) and some weak stuff (Halloween, original and remake are the weakest works in both directors catalogue, then again i haven't seen the mars vampires one)

Anyone who says otherwise is just a faggot

MEDIOCRE

Guess again, Mac.

Rob Zombie desperately needs to do something outside the horror genre.

rob zombie sucks ass

season of the witch is absolute garbage

>norweigan

> BITCH I WILL SKULL FUCK YOU TO FUCKING HELL

With dialogue like that, the movie was basically the exact opposite of what Carpenter did.

the only cool thing rob zombie has ever done was Beavis' peyote trip in do america

Okay. He's a prick here. JC is right to call his bullshit.

>Rob Zombie doesn't deserve to smell Carpenter's shit.

Rob Zombie is a terrible musician, singer, performer, director. He may well be one of the nicest men on the fucking planet but who gives a shit. His films are pure garbage only fit for pigs and monkeys. The only interesting thing about him is his make up. I also hear that he never washes his own asshole and brushes his teeth in piss.

Hi, Rob!

>hey john it's rob i'm doing a remake of halloween
>ok i don't have anything to say have fun with it
>bwuuhuu not muh michael myers

lol, you sure showed him

>>bwuuhuu not muh michael myers
He fucking created Michael Myers so he has every right to dismiss Rob Zombie butchering his character.

i think rob, and perhaps john, were overreacting.

it was over the phone, you can't really get much emotion out of it. it probably caught john by surprise as well. john wasn't particularly interested in the remake, but told rob to do his thing with it, and that was it. rob took that as john being "cold" since he might have wanted john to give him his blessing or whatever. john took that as a lie, since he did not mean to appear cold.

I kind of agree. I have a soft spot for H4&5 though.

It's a really good movie, it's just not a good Halloween Franchise movie.

Watch the Director's Cut though. T-Cut is not worth your time, they edited so much out the story didn't ake sense anymore.

...

this is some next level shit

>john carpenter
>john
>the baptist
>he baptises jesus

Kurt russell confirmed for being Jesus to no one's surprise.

>geniuses

Cronenberg, yeah. Roth I can at least make an argument for (probably not a very convincing one). But Aronofsky? Didn't the guy only do a couple of Saw sequels and that Repo musical? Who invited him to the table?

>things are changing and i don't like it

typical old white guy

I really can't tell if you're b8ing or actually are this stupid.

More like Cult Russell.

I juist watch Event Horizon instead

Good band name

Synthwave? Post-rock?

No, I dont know what you mean. I saw house of 1000 corpses when I was like 13 and immediately knew rob zombie was a waste of my time.

Nothing can convince me watch another one of his movies. His shit movies were subpar for shitty teen taste.

Post-Synthwave

Halloween 3 is the best halloween movie.
When I say halloween, I mean the fucking holiday.

Halloween OOZES the spirit of halloween.

If you don't like it, I don't like you.

Deepest lore

>Halloween is JC's weakest film

u wot m8?

Sounds like Zombie was butthurt that Carpenter wasn't enthusiastic. I think he was hoping Carpenter was going go "Yeah man! Love your music! Good luck!" Zombie has a colossal ego.

Halloween 3 is legit good, desu, but it wasn't as as successful as they expected so they brought Myers back and we got a lot of shit with it.

he has been working on a groucho marx movie for years and it is supposedly finally moving forward.

Just youtube the ending of Rejects then. It's well done.

When did Aaronofsky make a horror film?

Pi and Black Swan have horror elements. He also wrote Below, a horror film.

He co-wrote/co-produced Below but that's it. He has never directed a horror film.

>he often comes across as a spiteful individual

This. The guy is a great director, but in every interview I've seen with him, he always comes off as extremely bitter. My guess is that he's kind of upset he never got the fame or recognition he wanted (or deserved), and he let it get to him. It's understandable, but it makes me take a lot of the things he says less seriously because I know he's just pissed off.

But after seeing that Rob zombie interview, it seems like both of them were being stupid. Zombie seemed disappointed Carpenter didn't care about the remake and didn't want anything to do with it, and Carpenter got pissed Zombie made him look worse than he was.

>Rob Zombie:
Hey John, man I'm such a big fan and am remaking your movie halloween, would just love to get your input on this and your thoughs

>John Carpenter:
Hi. Just make it your own movie, don't worry about me. *hangs up phone*

>he always comes off as extremely bitter
I think it's unintentional and I think even he is aware of it, sometimes that bitterness just comes out, I think he never recovered from what happened with The Thing, it destroyed him emotionally and physically.

>can't stop talking shit about his fellow filmmakers, including Eli Roth who probably feels immense respect for him
>is unironically confused why David doesn't want to talk to him

He's always been a fucking asshole and he hasn't made a good film in decades

>Rob Zombie

Hey John, it's me again. Sorry to bother you but I was at the grocery store and I bought cereal, grits, and oatmeal, not sure what to make right now for breakfast.

>John Carpenter
Hi. Just blend all three, don't worry about me. *hangs up phone*

>what happened with The Thing, it destroyed him emotionally and physically.

Wait, what happened? I know the studio tried to force a happy ending, and he was bummed that it flopped, but that hardly seems exceptional for a guy known for making B-movies.

Damn, that's a cold ass honkey!

Universally panned by critics, not a hit at the box office

He was attacked by the media, he was fired, he was called the worst things imaginable, all because of The Thing.

> a guy known for making B-movies
He was never known for making b-movies, he was known for making independent movies, there is a difference.

>Watch all of Carpenter's good movies last October.
>Enjoy all of them.
>Realize that I will never see another good movie made by Carpenter again.

It hurts.

Dude El Super Beasto is the best thing he has made.

The fact that you have that opinion over THE FUCKING THING means you must be physically incapable of having good taste.

you dont know who aronofsky is do you?

Critics hated The Thing because they they only want things that break the status quo in realistic things like dramas, see 2001 space odyssey.

If you take all 3 movies you will maybe have the baseline for a movie.

at the very least, you know carpenter has an impressive resume of excellent genre films.

he may never make anything good again, but he doesnt have to.

Big Trouble in Little China is his best film, and i have a framed poster of it on my wall

Jesus I can feel John's suffering just reading that post.

what does Cred Forums think of this masterpiece?

Rob zombie has never made a good movie. Not wven decent. He makes shit tier hillbilly torture porn shlock.

Just like his shit music. Lyrics about witched and monsters is the rap equivalent to rapping about money and women. Pleb shit for plebs

Yeah, you're right. He has plenty of great films, and all of them are rewatchable. It's just a shame that he won't get one more hit in before he dies. The Thing is one of my favorite movies of all time, and one of only two that I have a poster for.

groovy tune senpai

Disgusting kikes.

It has that over the top early 80's charm and the plot is so absolutely ridiculous and unrealistic that it almost works good as high fantasy. Yeah, it's terrible, but in the most awesome way possible.

Is Dr. Loomis related to Father Loomis? Or did Dr. Loomis become a priest to continue his fight against PURE EVIL after the events of Halloween 2? You have to disregard everything past Halloween 2 for that theory to work but that's probably okay.

>he was too big
This, what was Rob Zombie thinking turning Myers into a fucking body builder?

Season of the Witch is a legit good movie.

youtube.com/watch?v=XzxKYSFlugM

It is truly the worst movie I've ever seen. It doesn't even work on a 'so bad it's good' level. There's no pleasure to be found it watching it; it is just poorly made in every respect.

It's not terrible, it's great. Why would you think it's terrible?
>hurr durr, sooo unrealistic

Halloween was a colossal box office smash that got critical acclaim, Escape from New York was a box office hit that got pretty good reviews, The Fog got some shit from critics but it was a box office hit, Assault on Precinct 13 got mixed reviews from American critics but European critics loved it, Darkstar didn't make any money and no one reviewed it but it was his very first film and it was extremely low budget. Back in 1982 The Thing was by far the biggest failure of his career. He was very proud of it, he thought it was the best film he had ever made and critics relentlessly panned it and it flopped at the box office. Everyone hated it, even the nerdy horror magazines shit all over it. Plus it flopping lead to Universal firing him from directing the Firestarter adaptation.

It's pretty easy to understand why The Thing's failure hardened John's heart.

Nobody cares what an actual retard thinks of H3

both these men will never be anything except pornographers of violence, they're one and the same

Someone: "What do you think about how The Thing becoming a cult hit in more recent times"

Carpenter: "What fucking good does that do me now?"

Almost exact quote forgot where he says that.
Might of been his 2 hour long interview with robert rodriguez

living the dream

The ending to Devils Rejects was shit, The only thing good about it was Free Bird, which is not all that good of a song anyway, It was filled with shit tier cgi blood and even worse slow mo.

>The ending to Devils Rejects is fucking amazing

It was awful. Fake slowmo so he could fit the entire free bird song. It was shit and embarassing. I bet he thought he was a genius when he edited that trash

Devils Rejects is definitely his best but he's still a hack. Shit, DR is nothing but an Empire Strikes Back rip-off anyway.

Only white guy to sexily pull of dread locks in history?

really pulling off that hobo look

Rebels are found by Empire and flee.
Rebels have separate adventures.
Bounty hunters are hired to find them.
Lando has a bald assistant. Prostitute even discusses need for sci-fi role play in Leia earmuffs.
Lando betrays the Rebels to Darth Vader and bounty hunter.
Darth Vader tortures Rebels.

Skynyrd and droids together at last...
>mfw

it's even better when you hear the songs played live

31 was awful

How the fuck did people hate that movie?

People are fucking stupid?

Anyone can see The Thing is pure, what's the word you kids throw around these parts?.......kino...was it? Yeah, I think that's the word.

The Free Bird scene is what made me give up RZ and not watch any other movie he did. It was like watching a student film or something. It was an awful scene, pretentious in the worst way possible.

...

He was just answering a question. He said he didn't like that they added too much backstory and that was it. His beef with RZ wasn't because of the movie itself or what he did with the character. He obviously doesn't give a shit and he wasn't crying about it.

WAIT

I thought John Carpenter died over year ago? Who am I mixing him?

Wes Craven, maybe

Wes Craven, probably

Wes Craven, possibly

This. I like Rob Zombie. House Of 1000 Corpses is one of my favourite films since I was a teenager, The Devil's Rejects was great, Halloween was okay but Halloween 2 was a masterpiece to me. Lords Of Salem was weird and bad, but at least it wasn't boring. 31 was just boring, clichéd shit. It's like some edgy 13 year old tried to write a Rob Zombie movie.

RZ movies are fucking trash, especially that devil's rejects garbage.

Came out the same month as E.T. and E.T. just buried it, along with a lot of other movies that year.

He already made more good movies than most directors have. He doesn't need to do anything else, and I think even he realised that, hence the not really giving a shit anymore, and just playing videogames and doing music with his family. Sounds like a pretty decent way to spend your elder years.

Wes Craven, perhaps

>live action practical effects-driven John Carpenter Dead Space film

>tfw when Carpenter said one of his favorite games in recent memory is the Dead Space ones
>when asked if he would ever consider doing a Dead Space video game movie Carpenter replied "I don't wanna make video games, I wanna play them."

Why doesn't he play superior japanese videogames? Is he a hack?

Wes craven most likely

well, he's a pretty big guy

Wes Craven, unfortunately

old news
youtube.com/watch?v=E4twMPO7FzA
Even then I think the interview is old because they talk about the Prequel to The Thing as it's new

>Where are you from?
Sweden
>Excellent work, Sweden
*blushes and giggles* Thank you

What a stud

Rob Zombie's Halloween II killed the franchise again.

SO I WASNT THE ONLY ONE

>>Rob Zombie
>>edgy grimdark

Confirmed!

Guy made the best remake of all time:

Escape from LA

Rob Zombies was and always will be a white dude with dreadlocks.

What a complete edgelord.

Come up with your own concept instead of recycling old ideas!

Wes Craven, surreptitiously

Wes Craven, conceivably

Wes Anderson, thanks god

probably Wes Craven

This. Please no Dead Space movie, please.

>Talks about Rob Zombie's comments
>At New York Film Academy
credibility lost.

he's stated that he loves dead space 3

Wes Craven, definitely

nigga Carpenter it's the best, don't talk shit

>tfw you'd love to talk about weird horror games from Ice Pick Lodge with Carpenter but he'd think you're one of the "geniuses" and walk way

So what happened with The Thing?

Isn't it considered a classic by critics now?

WES CRAVEN IS A FUCKING HACK
WHY THE FUCK DO HORROR FANS SUCK HIS DICK

Was he right?

theguardian.com/film/2013/nov/05/david-cronenberg-stanley-kubrick-horror-the-shining

for the last 20 years, yes

Boy Cred Forums sure likes drama, huh?

Yes, but how?

It is now, when it came out it was considered violent and pornographic.

Does he have something against Caddyshack?

>In science fiction magazine Starlog, critic Alan Spencer wrote, "John Carpenter's The Thing smells, and smells pretty bad. It has no pace, sloppy continuity, zero humour, bland characters on top of being totally devoid of either warmth or humanity [...] It's my contention that John Carpenter was never meant to direct a science-fiction horror movie. Here's some things he'd be better suited to direct: traffic accidents, train wrecks and public floggings."

denofgeek.com/movies/the-thing/28921/examining-the-critical-reaction-to-the-thing#ixzz4LJdjaYxF

>no humor
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Why is """""fun"""""" a requirement? Humor has no place in most serious movies. At all.

me on the right

And I'm asking what changed.

A new generation of children was born... from inside gay men.

Interdasting. Very interdasting.

>And I'm asking what changed.
Despite receiving bad reviews by the critics and flopping in the theatres, it was a home video success and it became a cult classic, John Carpenter films have always been loved by true cinema lovers all over the world, and with the internet The Thing became a very popular recommendation and now even casuals are aware of how important it is and even if the don't like the film they will never admit it because they know that a person with good taste in cinema will regard The Thing as one of the best films ever made.

what is the matter user? don't like gay horror kino?
