They didn't have guns in Alien or else they would have sacked that sucker by the end of the 2nd act.

So the Xenomorphs should have been smarter or stronger?

>people here unironically consider it one of the best action movies of the 80's
Embarrassing.

In Aliens? Yes.

no.jpg

The Xenomorph partly is unstoppable because it's too smart to let itself get shot at in a corridor.

Pretty sure the xeno in Alien would get fucked up with explosive pulse rifles and flamethrowers.

If they had real guns in Alien they could have bunkered down and had a chance rather than skittering around with it in the vents with a cattle prod.

>Yes

Yes to which one?

No because that's not the point. You wouldn't get a clear shot at it like they do in Aliens. It wouldn't just run down a hallway towards machine guns like a feral animal.

You're basing this on all the examples of aliens interacting with guns in the original Alien, I assume?

>Aliens isn't even considered canon anymore because of the Xenomorph kill count.

by who? retards?

who cares what they think.

Both. One they are smarter, two they shouldn't die as easily from bullets.

yeah the xeno would just go full batman/captain america and doge the aim of the shooter huh?

I'm basing it on lore coming from the canon films, games and comics.

Alien Isolation is more canon than Aliens.

Perhaps, much like a person, the Xenos are aware when they're alone and thus act accordingly.

When there are a large group of them versus a smaller group of weaker creatures they are confident to just go stomping in.

...

how many bullets did the first xenomorph survive senpai?

No, it would use the environment to kill you without you knowing it was even there, as it does in Alien and the videogames.

>Both
I can agree with smarter.

As for stronger. Why? The pulse rifle shoots explosive rounds. Why exactly should that not explode the shit out of a biological creature?

The same as the levels of irony I am on rn

...

Its an Alien thread, wheres the picture of Ripleys ass ?

>In the rare event that a Xenomorph finds itself under attack or otherwise vulnerable, it might display incredible creativity and cleverness. They are capable of moving quickly and silently in ventilation systems, despite their size, and will use such conduits for ambush, escape, or simply as an easy way to travel between areas.

...

picture of Ripley's what?

zero ass but i would still smash tbqh

>ass

Not that guy, but the alien just functions better as a monster the more invulnerable it is. The scariest things are almost always those that you cant defeat by conventional methods.

From a technical perspective though, yeah there's no reason you couldnt explode that bitch with 10mm caseless

youtube.com/watch?v=8J8SzBhjqaQ

TOO MUCH ASS!!!

An thats why Aliens is shlock and garbage. Turning a xenomorph into roadkill takes away from the fear factor never mind the boss fight at the end.

Why didn't Lambert just get out of the way?

>canon
>games and comics

Fuck off and take your tie in media with you.

Accepting that you're not that guy then the argument just changes to not liking what genre of movie Aliens was.

Aliens is an action movie. Alien is a horror movie.

They're both enjoyable.

ftfy

T. Begorra

>let's count this
>but not that >:(

No.

They have more canon material than Aliens does.

You might notice what you linked is AlienS videogame.

What I linked is ALIEN videogame.

There's the proof again. Aliens is SHIT and in a different universe. It's NOT CANON. Only Alien is.

I like the idea Scott played with, the the xeno in alien was just a wild juvenile and the xenos were a hyper intelligent with civilization when they matured.

Friendly reminder that Alien Isolation is better than anything in the franchise other than the original movie

>youtube.com/watch?v=NiiQ32B1gQA

It really was. Shame it didn't sell so much. CA probably won't get another opportunity.

I thought it did rather well? That's very unfortunate. The art style was so fucking great it was like playing the original movie.

>The Xenomorph partly is unstoppable because it's too smart to let itself get shot at in a corridor.

Have you even watched any of the films? The aliens aren't "smart", they're just following behaviour patterns built into their DNA, just like any wild animal.
The first Alien walked and scurried around like a man because it hatched from a man.

The aliens on LV-426 had a queen by the time the colony was established, so they'd begun to operate like an insect colony, communicating and working together.
By the second movie, they knew about the Aliens, they were prepared for them, they had weapons and equipment. They still got fucked up, even being badass space marines and all, but the aliens aren't unstoppable.

In Alien 3, the alien hatches from a dog, so it behaves more like a dog, running on all fours, climbing walls, etc.

>Perfect life form
>doesn't have fucking eyes

Makes you think...

how much do you think a facehugger would make a girl cum?

this reminds me of the cult of the eyeless in BG2 for some reason

>dat Angry Joe reference
>dat Michagan J. Frog reference
Shit cracks me up.
Every time.

>the stuf I like is canon the stuff I dont like isnt

face it, Alien lore/canon is fucking trash and a mess.
Aliens is a whole lot different movie than Alien and everybody knows it. But it is still the official sequel and Cameron did what he wanted and pushed it all in a shitty direction.

I recently watched 1 and 2 on the same day, the second time (I think) for the first time in my life. I was underwhelmed and the girl was fucking annoying. I like the idea of Alien as an 'unstoppable' creature as much as the other guy but the fact is Ridley Scott didn't make the sequel, cut out the "eggmorphing" scene (so Cameron was free to do the bee queen & drones bullshit) and generally let an inferior popcorn vision take over.

And I hate to say it, but Cameron didn't "nerf" the Alien, but just diluted its power by putting in in a different, shitty context of multiple aliens and a huge ass queen that got there out of fucking nowhere. There are problems with the movie namely why the fuck the company waited 57 years to retrieve the alien when it fucking new the specimen are there. But "power levels" aren't one of them

I look forward to Alien Covenant or whatever it is called and still didnt see Prometheus, but the franchise is pretty much in the trash and you won't have a coherent good canon because you have like what? 1 movie classic, some decent games that unfortunately have Predators in them and now Isolation and like you say, some comic books nobody looked at.

Let it go. Unless Alien is aquired by someone willing to say only 1st movie is canon and we start from that point all you can do is nitpicking things you like and cry that the shitty parts aren't there.

>it behaves more like a dog
>climbing walls

What?

>posting a trailer
Didn't the actual game turn out to be way shittier then what the trailers promised though?

It's an alright game to be fair, but most of the game you're fighting humans and cyborgs and the alien can just be swatted away with the flamethrower with ease.

>Get to play as Parker.
Does that mean we can finally clarify the bonus situation?

your pupper doesnt climb the walls?

fucking loser

No, that was the other game.

Alien Isolation was universally praised.

i thought they did have guns but they didnt want to risk shooting a hole through the ship's hull so they opted to use the flamethrower?

...

I forgot to add
If you use the word "Xenomorph" you actually accepted Aliens as the sequel because the word appeared in Aliens.

So you contradicted yourself in the OP, faggot.

Angry joe reference?

That name was around during the first movie, you giant faggot. Just because nobody called it that it doesn't mean that's not what its name was in production.

I still need to play it after hardware upgrade. It's a little bit like Amnesia when it comes to the 'indestructible opponent' mechanic, right?

Yea except the humans and robots.

Sort of, the alien can just appear at random times and your goal is to avoid it and hide. But when you get the flamethrower it just becomes a pest.
Still, if you feel nostalgia towards Alien, it's worth playing, since they go for the "80's sci-fi" feel, with a shit ton of buttons and CRT monitors everywhere.

"The term xenomorph (lit. "alien form"—from Greek xeno-, which translates as either "other" or "strange", and -morph, which denotes shape) was first used by the character Lieutenant Gorman in Aliens[1] with reference to generic extraterrestrial life. The term was erroneously assumed by some fans[10] to refer specifically to this creature, and the word was used by the producers of some merchandise."

yeah, keep on digging that hole delusional idiot

>A flamethrower is less dangerous than shooting a fucking bullet.
>On a god damned space ship.
I'm all for suspension of disbelief, but that's just too far.

i think it has more to do with the alien's blood possibly melting through the hull of the ship, while burning it will kill it without bleedng. obviously though, running around shooting flames in a closed oxygen environment might not be the brightest of ideas either.

Alien Isolation: Angry Joe review
Look it up, it's hilarious.

As someone who watched the original Alien films recently for the first time, here's the objective ranking of em
Alien > Alien 3 > Aliens

>hes too stupid to understand adaptation to hive mentality, vs single survival mechanisms

>As someone who watched the original Alien films recently for the first time, here's the objective ranking of em

The opinion of millenials is literally irrelevant.

It depends on the difficulty that you're playing, on the higher ones you run out of fuel all the fucking time so you are very desperate to not use it unless totally necessary. Flamethrower basically just means you don't get instakilled on every time the alien appears out of nowhere, or a face hugger sneaks behind you, and you have to start the level all over again for the sixth time.

Though admittedly it was kinda annoying that the fucking androids are so damage resistant that you're almost more afraid of them than the actual alien when they swarm you.

As usual nobody thinks about the narrative. The alien reflects the humans, most obviously in that it looks like a distorted human. Aliens specifically has a swarm of aliens because the human cast consists of soldiers wearing identical outfits. Drones versus drones.

>Aliens raped the concept of the Alien
>Giger wrote an angry letter about it to Cameron

That should tell you enough

It's a great game but jesus fuck, how can you seriously have not fixed the bug that appears mere five minutes into the game (that forces you to restart the game entirety) after two years?

They stopped doing that and found another way though. They figured it out.

t. 23 years old millenial

It's a Space Balls referencing Michigan J. Frog reference

Sounds like you need a better dog.

>specifically has a swarm of aliens because the human cast consists of soldiers wearing identical outfits.
Go back and watch it again, they don't really have a uniform. Its really just civilian clothes under body armor.

Just the way both movies were shot you can tell Alien is vastly superior.

Also for those who are interested by the next movie, look up the Alien Explorations blog, specifically the article "Alien: Covenant"

>>Giger wrote an angry letter about it to Cameron
Source on that, please?

it's a dog from the future, dumbass

His lawyer did something I recall, but sorted of liked the movie, loved the mecanization and the design but disliked the action part.

What? Giger was upset about not being asked to contribute. James Cameron responded in this letter.

>implyinh the armor isn't an outfit
What the fuck are you doing.

How will Siggyfags ever recover?

>shame it didn't sell so much

2 million copies isn't a lot?

Dear Diary,

OP was not a fag today.

Aliens was a very good action movie but it killed the Alien franchise as a suspense/panic thriller.
Alien Isolation was the best contribution to the franchise so far, which is pretty odd considering it's vidia shit

bonus?

right

And yet, the word is used in all three films. But let's forget that because of a wikipedia writers opinion.

>Comparing Aliens to Alien.
>Not realizing they're both different genres.
>Not realizing that they're great for different reasons.

What's next? You'll compare Terminator 1 with Terminator 2?

A grappling hook that just had compressed gas powering it embedded itself into the first Xeno in Alien. A pulse rifle from Aliens would have wrecked it.

I don't think it was used in Alien.
Anyway xenomorph is a common noun, not a name.

>I don't think it was used in Alien.

Nigga are you being serious? It coined the term.

...

I watched Alien and Aliens back to back yesterday and I believe the first use of the word on film was the black sergeant in Aliens.

Remember this game is canon

To be fair, Alien Isolation was the closest thing in tone to the original Alien I've seen. Good game too.

Kill yourself.

Literally the only thing decent about it is how they say removing a chestburster before it has woken up and fucked up the host does not mean the host can be saved, as the thing has some kind of cancer placenta that spread throughout the host.

I rewatched it recently and you're wrong

First off, they didnt have guns in Alien. Second off, if they shot it, gallons of that blood would fall from it leaving a giant whole in the ship so they would be dead anyway. The Alien was never meant to be this invincible killing machine, it just so happened the scenario laid out before them made it difficult for them to deal with it. It's like throwing someone into a lions pit with nothing but a steel rod. You're basically fucked

Get a load of this fag.

Based Cameron.

You're wrong.

The damn thing doesn't even know what the flying fuck a gun is. The mere fact that a lot of the crew SAW their killer long enough to express fear and awe alone is enough time for some hardened individual to blast it in the fucking face.

>in Alien a little cut on a facehugger goes down 3 stories
>in Aliens they blow to pieces half a hundred full grown Xenomorphs and it does a little in close combat and it never damage what's around them

It damages the surviving Marine's armour in the elevator, and his arm IIRC, which is why he doesn't help Ripley when she goes to save Newt.

>as the thing has some kind of cancer placenta that spread throughout the host.

Fucking brilliant

>muh door opening simulator

Thr grappling hook that sticks into the first Xenomorph in Alien doesn't instantly melt. It actually stays embedded in it enough for it to crawl back to the escape pod. So it would seem adult Xenos have weaker acid blood than facehuggers.

Yeah because xenos should be absolutely fucking invulnerable to what amounts to fast-action railguns wielded by one to a dozen people. Well played, Oh Pee

>implying this wasn't taken from the old Dark Horse comics

OH MY SWEET FAGGY CHILD OHHHHH

also acid blood

Which one?

>Playing Isolation
>First hour nothing happens, but they are doing a good job building suspense
>Finally get to the part where the alien is after me
>Lose all interest because alien isn't actually scary once you see it

It's hot, though.

Not when you're a retarded triple A company that spends way too much on marketing, and everything you release has to be a smash hit and the start of a franchise

>tfw xenomorph fetish
>only a couple of SFM videos and handful of good images
>the only thing remotely similar is full bodysuit latex porn
life is pain bros

Literally /aco/ after /d/ ruined it.

Can't you buy one of those suits they used on set?

Funny that the first time they actually used the acid blood cleverly was in Resurrection.

My old comic book store in the 90s had an alien head prop from alien 3 for sale. I used to just push my nose against the display case and admire it.

/aco/ only increased the amount of trash propagated on Cred Forums which inevitably lead to cross posting. similar to Cred Forums's jewish tendrils probing other boards with their neurotic spamming

First week of /aco/ someone started a John Person+The Pit thread, I read trought the trash and never set foot on the board again

/aco/ was pretty great until the mod on /d/ sent all western shit there and it turned into /d/2.0.

>if they shot it, gallons of that blood would fall from it
>In aliens they shoot like morons
>splatter damage: 0

It's supposed to be the perfect killing machine for humans. It's an existential threat.
Aliens made it into a monster of the week story.

>canon

There's that word again. When will you people realize canon never ever matters in anything. Which is why literally every canon ever gets changed all the time.

They did have guns. Kane has a pistol holstered on his side when he goes in the Engineer ship.
>pic related

>The grappling hook that sticks into the first Xenomorph in Alien doesn't instantly melt.
You could argue it's made of very strong and resistant metals and alloys due to the natural of space. The little escape pod could end up a acidic world or something and that grappling hook could be used to scale shit without melting or something.

>xenomorphs are supposed to he indestructable!
Explain the acid blood, baby.

Poison berries are poisonous because they'll poison you if you eat them. That's their purpose. It's to teach you in the future to not eat them again. Now, I wonder then why xenomorphs would have acid blood. Can you guess the answer? It's actually pretty simple and the result will make you look like a faggot

>The gun Dallas uses is actually a prop from Star Wars

>canon games and comics.

You know even with today's technology there's such a thing as cutting off cabins when they get depressurized, definitely preferable to risking a fucking explosion with the flamethrower

Both based on Sterling SMG.

The one in Alien HAD to be cautious cause it was the only one. Look at how they escaped that room in Resurrection. They communicated and then one of them willingly got slaughtered so the others could escape through the acid hole from it's corpse. They don't care about individual survival, just what's best for the survival of the species. Just like ants that are willing to drown being the bottom of the "ant raft" so the others can cross a body of water. They're fucking bugs. Behaviour like charging the turrets until they ran out of ammo is actually smart if you have enough Xenos.

They're not on a fucking ship in Aliens. Also, people die in that movie from blood splatter alone.

Drake gets severely burnt from shooting one up close. Hicks, Hudson, and Vasquez all suffer burns in the same scene and Hicks loses his whole shotgun to it. Later Hicks nearly dies from burns and only survives because of his armor. He spends the remainder of the film severely injured and unconscious.

->Cred Forumsis soo retarded that need to shit in clássics since is a Well know fact that modern cinema is shit

>severely injured

beings designed to end mankind leave man severely injured

>cunt

Gets me Every fucking time

>put on powered armour suit
>wait for dumb space bug attack
>twist head until it breaks
