pic related. Im pretty sure no one even remembers Korn exist, let alone think they are "cool" enough to pass for an ironic cheesy scooby doo parody

KORN

Unfortunately all new South Park episodes will age similarly because all they remark about is flavor of the month microwave culture.

lol thhis is so bad its good

Nibblet >__

why did they even pick korn to star in their show. matt and trey aren't that pleb

>Unfortunately all new South Park episodes will age similarly because all they remark about is flavor of the month microwave culture.
sad but true

the older southpark episodes pre 2009 are just timeless classics but ever since imagination land its been generic boring crap

flavor of the month

The Tale of Scrotie McBoogerballs is six years old.
Imaginationland will be nine in a little over two weeks.

AAAAAAAARE YOOOOOOOOU REAAAAAAAADYYYYYYYY!

Stop it user, it's still 2008 in my mind.

It was always politics of the week.

I don't see how the episode is dated seeing as I never know what Korn was and didn't know it was parodying Scooby Doo (or even what that was) until years later.

the episode came out in 1999

Korn and numetal bands were the cool new thing.

>tfw listening to numetal, watching attitude era WWF, and playing playstation 2 games

comfy memories tbhfam

the cure and radiohead weren't, though

jesus why god
2010 was the peak of my shit life

then everyone moved on and i am stuck here alone

i am so happy alot of the good 90s bands and still going

RHCP
Radiohead
Sum41
Greenday

most of the others from the 2000's suck now like good charlotte blink 182

>it has gotten to the point where the guitarist of Korn got sober and left the band because he became a born again christian

>mfw this happened 8 years ago

>playstation 2

How did you get hold of a time machine?

No it wasn't. Even in episodes where they used contemporary settings it was either about the gang, parodies of established paradigms, or making a farce out of cultural shifts.

The "Day after Tomorrow" references still hold up because it's a backdrop for global warming.

The Radiohead references are trivial in "Scott Tenorman Must Die" because they're not the point of the whole episodes, it was about Cartman's psychopathy instead of him just being the ass of every joke.

I only know who Korn is from the weird fucking files that were on LimeWire in 2005.

And more importantly, is he his own grandfather?

>the episode came out in 1999
>Korn and numetal bands were the cool new thing.

and faggots on here will still insist that south park only started referencing current trnds and events a few years ago.

>tfw your binge drinking episodes don't end up with you in a somewhat famous band

>alot

Fucken this, the Colin Kaepernick references are already dated

I still listen to Korn on a regular basis.

30 years old, married, two kids, graduating from med school soon.

He's back in theband

id rather die of cancer than know there's a doctor treating me that listens to korn

Yeah right

all of those bands always sucked except radiohead

One less faggot on planet earth? Win Win

It doesn't matter that who the hell Korn are, this episode is still great, and isn't as outdated as most of the episodes from last season are already.

It's a Scooby Doo parody with some band, they aren't important at all. I fucking love the explanation of the pirate ghosts.

pot meet kettle etc...

those are just underage faggots who were born in 1999. The entire reason it got popular was because it would make fun of really current cultural or political things. The Pokemon episode and the Jackoffasaur episodes really stand out to me.

South Park was really fucking popular back then, similar to maybe the simpsons in the early 90s, but edgier. I remember literally every time I would watch Raw or WCW, there were thousands of signs with wrestlers as south park characters.

hi Cred Forums and triple j

I've been watching SP from season 1 onwards, I'm up to season 3 and BOY is it much less political and a good bit funnier. I enjoy the new episodes but it's not the same.

I don't think they care about Cred Forums-related meaningless buzzwords. Better ask them.

I can't believe Imaginationland is that old. 2007 was my fist year of college. I could have sworn it was from ~2010 or something.

ive been rewatching south park since it came out.

i remember the season 1-5 vhs i used to rent and watch again and again and again via recorded to betamax

then got a bunch of real media rips off some mate and burnt them to cd and played it at all my friends houses

>1990s things
shut up

I though Bobs Burgers came out like 2 years ago, but its apparently 6 years old

>pre 2009 are timeless classics

user, there are quite a few dated episodes in there.
>Best Friends Forever (seriously is the Terri Schiavo case even relevant anymore?)
>A Million Little Fibers
>The Return of the Fellowship of the Ring to the Two Towers
>The Jeffersons
>The Passion of the Jew
>You Got F'd in the A
>Hell on Earth 2006
>Guitar Queer-o

>2008 was 28 years ago

>>The Return of the Fellowship of the Ring to the Two Towers
what

shut your whore mouth you foul wench

All timeless classics

the only one that really seems dated is the guitar hero one.

I think shit like Lord of the Rings is such a famous thing that its not really dated to reference it. Like if someone makes a Star Wars reference or a Godfather reference. Its just so ingrained in pop culture now.

I think the Avatar one is much more dated

guitar queero is still entirely relevant though, they're STILL shitting out those monstrosities.

at least we live in times where any schmuck can start a business by importing things from China and Mexico

dubs of thruth
kek

Good things stay good. They don't get "outdated." Especially music. Those late 90s - mid 2000s bands still exist and they're usually still good.
Shit even some bands from the 80s are doing all right.

Fellowship holds up just fine, it's about children discovering porn through the LotR backdrop

Guitar Queer-o holds up perfectly fine too as depressed drugged-out rocker parody with a videogame backdrop, even with Randy being that old relic and the gang not giving a shit

It's like you retards don't understand anything in any of the media you consume

Korn still makes music and is played everyday on the radio. Just cuz you sit in your room all day watching South Park doesn't mean Korn isn't popular.

Good episode, but it's old. LOTR parody aside, it's about returning videos to the video store.

>>Hell on Earth 2006

even though my super sweet 16 is literally who tier now, the phenomenon of spoiled rich kid brats crying at their awesome party because they wanted a blue red porsche instead of a black one isnt.

Oh, video stores are so old that they're haunted, ha-ha!

That show was one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen. I don't know how much of it was scripted, but those scenes where their parents buy them luxury cars and the girls through temper tantrums because it's not the right car, or they revealed it too early, or whatever bullshit cunt reason they had to be pissed off...

Made you want to hunt those little shits down and strangle them.

Boy bands always come back
>forgetting the Jonas Brothers episode

>actually trying to argue that Korn and numetal are still relevant or popular

lol

Most are but guitar queer-o is definitely one of the series weaker episodes.

alot of people STILL rent dvds and blu rays here in aus its still a normal concept because our internet is so bad

>RHCP
>Sum41
>Greenday

Quite literally wrong

boy bands have been a thing literally as long as bands have been a thing

anyone that actually insist on having a birthday party beyond the age of like 12 is a cunt.

???

they've got two new singles out, averaging around five million views each, seem pretty popular to me chochacho
i don't even like them at all but i still hear about them all the time

>alot

Yes

Sorry but that's not how music works. I understand you're going through that phase but stay calm.

well yeah but poorfags still do

ive been pirating since before i had internet

>mfw my only gift was an old Fender bass my sisters bf gave me because he felt sorry for me

>doesn't like Skiba

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I actually agree that the steve irwin joke was too much. I get that its an edgy show, but he had just died and it seemed like such a mean spirited joke on such a nice beloved guy that it kind of ruined the pace of the episode

>Fellowship holds up just fine, it's about children discovering porn through the LotR backdrop
>The boys need to return a LOTR VHS TAPE to BLOCKBUSTER that got switched with a PORN VHS TAPE all while Butters make Gollum references

Its fine if you like the episode but its dated as fuck now.

Nigga ALL those episodes not only hold up but are all classic

They made one good album.

Don't be such a puss

Fuck you

That said, I can't believe Green Day still exists because I swear they were "good" for exactly one minute back in 1994 and they've disappeared up their own asshole ever since

The Simpsons Movie was 9 years ago and they already seemed irrelevant then

Russel Crowe beating up people.
Kenny doing nasty stuff like giving Howard Stern a blowjob.
There's plenty of dated ones

Not really, the premise is the same. Token discovering it metaphorically ended his pre-pubescent imaginative childhood phase for the episode. You just don't pick up on the forest because your dumbass is just staring at the tree in front of you.

>RHCP
>Radiohead
>Sum41
>Greenday

maybe Radiohead , they have put couple good songs out like Creep and Karma Police, but the rest are just plain shit for edgy teens.

Every album after Crimson sucked m8, don't get me started on California

> (OP)
>I still listen to Korn on a regular basis.
>30 years old, married, two kids, graduating from med school soon.

lol that's like saying "I still listen to twisted sister on a regular basis"

Korn has been dad-rock status for a while now.

>RHCP
>edgy

Greenday was literally who tier after Dookie and then saw a upbeat in popularity in 2004 with mall goths/hot topic fags with American Idiot because it appealed specifically to their edgy rebellious "fuck bush!" suburbanite phase

and yeah, the simpsons were already irrelevant by the time the movie came out, unlike south park whos movie came out at the height of their popularity.

I WANNA ROCK!

rate my edgy teenager music

>dad-rock

Hello there newcomer, I believe you have misclicked to the wrong board. Here, I will help redirect you.

blah bla blah heroin
blah blah blah under the bridge
blah blah blah more heroin, pussy , heroin

>the premise is the same
Yeah but it takes place in then present times hence why they're making references to LOTR to begin with and the only way they could have possibly made the mistake of not knowing what they were watching was through the VHS format. They would have never made a LOTR references if the movies weren't the bees knees back then.

>the simpsons were already irrelevant by the time the movie came out
Not disagreeing but that's not what I meant

The first act of the movie was "holy shit it's special guest stars Green Day"

>Hoobastank

No they have been not you lying piece of shit

You don't know shit

>westlife

Isn't EVERY heroin reference in RHCP "holy fuck this drug is awful please don't even go near it, it killed all of my friends and almost killed me"

>boy bands havent been a thing since forever

sure thing

Not as out of place as

It is you that does not know shit

Beatles suck

i was such a sensetive child

The Beatles were definitely a boy band

They even gossiped about projected personality traits they had in teenage girl's magazines and did their best to hide Lennon's wife and kid from public view

So boy bands are at least as old as "pop music" or the television

>The Radiohead references are trivial in "Scott Tenorman Must Die" because they're not the point of the whole episodes, it was about Cartman's psychopathy instead of him just being the ass of every joke.

no shit. that episode is South Park at it's best, and the best example of disproportionate retribution I can think if. It established Eric Cartman as a most Magnificent Bastard.

2000s fashion was the worst

1999-2006 what the fuk where they thinking?

>t. drummer
Go cry in a corner.

they were emulating rap fashion of the 80's-90's

no user it is obviously dated because it used a contemporary band as one of the gags so it has no withstanding relevance a decade later

t. Cred Forums

Recognize the Dwarves

>because it used a contemporary band
you could replace them with any current relevant band and it won't change the story, except maybe Ned's "what am I doing here."

no
late 1980's early 1990's was absolutely the worst time for fashion.

that's 1994-1999 you fucking faget

They sucked then and they suck now .

But that's not the 70s

That's been the case ever since they made the switch from absurd and surreal humor featuring pop culture references to exclusively mocking pop culture. Reruns are funny to me, but I don't doubt that there's a generation of kids who watched the summer of south park and didn't get half the jokes.

upvote if you still have your JNCO jeans

I know. That's the exact substance of what I posted. I'm glad we concur, you dense motherfucker

South Park has always been topical and issue-based to a degree. It all depends on whether the episode is funny enough to be memorable.

Best Friends Forever, Hell on Earth, F'd in the A are all funny enough that they are still enjoyable even if those things aren't issues anymore.

But episodes like Million Little Fibers and Guitar Queer-O just aren't funny and feel like Trey's forcing himself to make an episode about those topics without really knowing what he's doing.

You only get "dated" if you're not that good to begin with. The Rob Reiner episode's still good. The David Blaine episode's still good.

rock on

Are they supposed to look bad? That style looks pretty cool

your post implies otherwise

Greenday was never literal who tier. What year were you born?

I was Steve Irwin for Halloween that year and I got a lot of shit for it.

There are those who argue that this was the tipping point for the worse because it changed Cartman from the fat, spoiled everykid into an entirely different character.

It was a Mountain Dew you buffoon. But I'm glad somebody else remembers that commercial

They were fairly dormant between Dookie and American Idiot. Part of me wishes they had stayed that way.

>tipping point for the worse
>literally one of, if not THE, best episodes
The contrarianism is real

>I can't handle differing opinions, so if you don't agree with me you're doing it on purpose

More power to you if you liked what he became better, but he lost a lot of "that kid" in the process.

Seasons 1 and 2 really fail to hold up. 3 has alot of gold in it but 4 and onward is still re-watchable.

>More power to you
>More power
Fagtalk get out

Yeah but they sort of coasted on Dookies success which had like 5 successful singles and then they had good riddance come out which had a lot of radio play. Then American idiot came out. Should've broken up after that tbqh but I wouldn't say they were literal whos

No they aren't. The series was canceled over 6 years ago.

season one and two are the best seasons though, prime Trey and Matt in their twenties.

we can all agree that About Last Night is the worst episode they've ever done, right?

The rest are still pretty funny, especially Passion of the Jew. I love it when they do the celebrity head cut-out gag, which they never do anymore because their animation fucking sucks now.

>their animation fucking sucks now.
>The episode where they make fun of everything getting remastered, super realistic, and super expensive looking.
>all the characters are overly designed and the hair is detailed rather than solid colors, etc etc

I wonder if they're aware of the irony.
They really slumped in the voice department too. Nearly any one-episode character will have the exact same voice.

I recently found out that they do the boy's voices by just making vague-ish accents and modifying it afterwards, which was a bit of a bummer. Spongebob in comparison is all 100% legit human voice.

I was sort of bummed out by that as well
>we make the episodes in 7 days!

So what if an episode is dated? They are meant to entertain 'in the moment'

KoRn is actually confirmed to be a patrician musical ensemble, so I'm sure our children will dig them up one day and be amazed by their innovative musical stylings.

In other words, KoRn is in fact timeless, and their first disc is a confirmed classic.

>South Park has always been topical and issue-based
No it hasn't. See seasons 1 - 4

The guy on the right is patrician Tbh, distressed fabrics are very chic, like a proto-Rick Owens

50% sure Blink 182 started getting big mid to late 90's.
They were big in the 90's alright, but 50% sure RHCP and Green Day were kind of a thing in the 80's too, not really sure about Radiohead.
My memory is shit nowadays though, and I'm not bothering to check.

The very second episode was filled with joke's about Kathy Lee Gifford and her sweatshops. It's just that the episodes didn't revolve entirely around you knowing the pop culture reference.

>Implying that Digeredooland is normal.

I remember being a kid in maybe the year 2000 and seeing a car where they taped a piece of notebook paper that said KORN on their rear window brake light hoping it would light up red. It did not work well. Fucking Korn fans
