millennial here, but I classify them as what school I was in
2000's movies are when I was in Elementary school (1998-2007)
post 2000's movie were high school (2007-2011)
and then 2010's university (2011-2016)

Wow rude. 2000s can have different connotations. Early y2k movies have a very distinct feeling to them, and therefore don't have to be strictly from that time period.

Actually that's a great example preY2k and post Y2k are 2 different times and is what makes the 90's (1990-1999) so much different then the 00's

but we don't say 00's because that would be saying (double ohs) which isn't a time, so we we say 2000's. but what we mean is 00's like the 90's or 80's or the 70's 60's 50's 40's 30's 20's 10's.

so you may think 2000's is whatever time you were in highschool, or 95-05, or something else weird like that, but the convention in place beforehand that's been used for 100 years before is 2000's is 2000-2009

one could argue that what makes a 2000's movie is the endurance or duration of a certain thought, feeling idea, mood, tone etc... For example most of the early 2000's movies are directly in the shadow of or responding to post 9/11 while I don't think that element is as prevalent in later movies post 2007. Sure there was still an element of it present but not as much. There is a noticeable tonal shift in the types of movies being made that for the most part define that decade of film. But again that really lasts for the first 7 years, by that point there starts another shift that then fully manifests itself in the next decade. Each decade of film is a response to the previous one and this response starts in the final years of that decade.
