Are there any serious sci-fi films, à la 2001: a Space Odyssey?
Not interested in pleb flicks, so please don't suggest any.

in all honesty Interstellar
You've probably already heard these but Solaris and Stalker are great. Among other things both give really distant "in space" sort of feels not unlike 2001.
also Dark City is glorious
Forget what faggots might tell you about Angels & Airwaves this is actually pretty good.
does moon count?
Interstellar is right there with 2001 desu
Sunshine is world class Kino.
I really liked it too.
Didn't want to quote someone desu, ignore that.
No problem, bro.
Apollo 13, Moon (,sunshine)
Kys
On the Silver Globe
Children of Men
Blade Runner
No it isn't you fucking pathetic little bitch. Why would a pisspoor Kubrick imitation that has one of the most cliche endings ever to shoot yourself in the foot be Kubrick?
Sunshine starts out well but it turns to total shit
Real shame
GATTACA
Moon is ok. So is Gattaca, even though it's very little classic "sci-fi" involved.
Solaris is the most appropriate answer to this question.
Fuck you ... Even Gravity and the martian are better
Èvolution
The signal (you'll probably enjoy this one the most)
The face of another
Pi (one of my favorites)
The fountain
Those aren't like 2001, but it's all I got off the top of my head.
jupiter ascending
I liked that rap listening guys part in the remake.
Godzilla vs. Hedorah (1971)
...
moon is fucking amazing
On the Silver Globe
Brazil
