Much like Civil War, most of the budget will be ate up by the actor's salaries and they'll have to shoot the whole thing for cheap in Atlanta. This will result in a visually boring movie with unfinished CG.
Screencap this: There will be a plot point that makes Earth itself the crux of the plot just so they wont have to spend a lot of money CGing space.
Why would it be in space? There's no sense of danger if something is happening on some deserted rock planet
Jayden Harris
They'd do it on Earth anyway. Most of the gems (so far) turned up on Earth. Star Lord has roots on Earth. The heroes are almost all Earth-based anyway, and one of the key acts that Thanos commits in the comics is to wipe-out half of the entire population of the Universe, so disappearing half ot the Earth population will make sense as a dramatic angle.
Only reason is that the final showdown of Infinity Gauntlet, and much of the other parts of the Inifinity comics (Crusade, War) take place in some region of outer space or other (be it a void where Thanos erects a monument to Death, or Titan, or some other planet).
Benjamin Scott
At this point, it's going to be rushed,no matter what. Thanos hasn't done shit, and Ragnarok doesn't seem to involve him at all, which means Part 1 is either going to be a rush job where they try to come up with some way all the stones will be on Earth, or the entire movie will be about Thanos trying to get the stone with nothing else happening. Either way, it's going to be rushed as fuck. I have high doubt that the movie will be great. It'll probably be decent, but only that.
Lincoln Myers
Why not just make it two movies?
Thomas Carter
I suspect they will adapt elements of Hickman's Infinity where Thanos invades Earth itself looking for the Infinity Gems.
Hopefully it wont be as shitty as the book.
David Nguyen
thanks for the warning user, I won't bother seeing it now.
Landon Bennett
who cares? Cred Forums is DC territory
Gabriel Edwards
The whole thing is being shot in IMAX how is that cutting corners
Kevin Davis
What the hell is budget going to be?
David Williams
Do you think the cg will be any worse than civil war? Because that shit was awful
Dylan Wilson
Reportedly it's roughly $500 million for each.
Austin Scott
It's supposedly a billion dollars. I am not joking either. They renamed the first movie to just Infinity War and nobody knows what they are going to call the second one but it isn't Infinity War part 2 and the directors have implied that it won't be a direct continuation whatever the fuck that means.
Jack Gonzalez
>wanting space shit the cosmic stuff is the worst thing about Marvel.
Nathaniel Morgan
No.. 500m for both, not EACH.
Gavin Baker
The movies are one overarching storyline, but can also function standalone, and will have different titles because the Divergent and Hunger Games poisoned the well on the "Part 1" thing.
Jackson Rogers
It's reportedly $500 million for each, for a $1 billion total as it is being shot back-to-back.
Elijah Powell
>4k ARRI digital camera with a IMAX sticker on it
Not that big of a deal desu
Ian Campbell
>There will be a plot point that makes Earth itself the crux of the plot just so they wont have to spend a lot of money CGing space. While at the same time adding so much CGI to a make the setting look like a barren wasteland so much so that they might as well have done it from scratch.
The problem isnt marvel cosmic, its FOX owns any of the stuff worth doing in space, and FOX aint doing it. Marvel could do some interesting stuff, but they're dragging ass to get there too.
Brandon Morris
One day someone will film a whole god damn action film in 70mm and that shit will be glorious. INB4 Hateful 8. That shit only had two locations
Joseph Harris
>believes unfounded rumors
No, thats utter bullshit, and stop spreading that gossip you blithering whore. They're not filming back to back and it's increasing the cost, it is DECREASING it.
Alexander James
Just imagine how much more RDJ will get paid for this? He doesn't need to do anything all since they'll just CGI/photoshop his head into the armor.
Dominic King
>They're not filming back to back and it's increasing the cost, it is DECREASING it.
But they are filming back to back, how else are you going to schedule the bazillion characters marvel is planning for the two movies? Seems to easiest route from a logistics point of view
Aiden Clark
He gets a cut of the films gross. On Iron Man 3 he got a cut of the merch sales too, but they may not be the case for avengers.
Sebastian Sanders
Well, rumour has it that the combined production budget for Part 1 and 2 is a billion dollars (yes, a fucking billion dollars) so they'll have enough left even if Actor's salaries is probably gonna be 30% of that (RDJ got 50 million for Avengers 2)
and it's saving money dingus. Makes things cheaper for sets, locations, costumes, props, extras and so on. Longer jobs for crew means you can consign them at a scaled rate. It ends up being cheaper to make 2 movies in an 8 month period than to make 1 in a 4 month period and then another 4 months a few years down the line. It cuts renegotiation, it CUTS cost. The billion dollar budget is a completely unfounded click bait rumor. The budget for the films are far more likely 200-250m a piece.
Luis Turner
It's probably $300,000,000+
Kevin Cooper
so they are copying Snyder's Justice League i see ;^]
William Harris
Seems like the budget needs to be 500mil at least
Jason Adams
Then they have to figure in marketing which usually doubles the cost. Considering the original BleedingCool article said the source on the price tag was an insider, aka someone who might know how much the marketing would cost for an international release, I'd say a billion dollars is a conservative estimate on a total budget for both these films marketing and salaries included.
Chase Brooks
Snyder's Justice League and Cameron's Avatar sequels are making the MCU obsolete. they're done, DC won the war
Josiah Rodriguez
70mm Panavision (super and ultra) and 70mm IMAX are two incredibly different formats. Also IMAX cameras are big loud as fuck. Nolan even said that he couldn't film interior TDKR scenes in IMAX because of the noise and size, and even outdoor scenes in IMAX (like CIA) had to be re-dubbed.
Nathaniel Reed
it's a flippant number with no actual figure. It's like someone was pretending to be Dr.Evil said it.
500m for marketing is also an insane number with marketing costs going down. It's Disney/ABC they don't have to worry about buying ad space since they down so much to begin with.
Josiah Rivera
Marvel won a long time ago, DC/WB is like a japanese soldier stationed on some remote island who thinks the war is still going on and refuses to surrender
David Gutierrez
This.
Nathan Rogers
MCU are like fags at the gay pride parade thinking they're making history lol
>ghostbusters (2016)
James Johnson
If this is going to include IM it should include all DC films from 2008 on. Even if they are not in the same universe. Cause they had TDK, TDKR, Jonah Hex, Green Lantern and Watchmen.
DC had some success with the TDK trilogy and dropped it in favor of rebooting
Blake Rodriguez
What's the fucking logif behind that?
Colton Myers
>Avatar 2 can be released during Star Wars season and not be entirely crushed People don't actually believe this, do they?
