I've actually come to agree that the majority of the prequels are better than TFA. Because, while the prequels botch the main storyline, there at least is an attempt at a main character arc in each of them to speak of. They also add to the universe in terms of lore, design, music etc. whereas TFA adds nothing new or exciting to the vast world. So while the prequels aren't very good, in terms of the franchise they add *something*, but TFA adds nothing, and takes away quite a lot (Han's botched death etc)

I have to admit though, the first time I saw TFA all those nods worked for me, hitting right in that nostalgia. But then you think about the whole thing, and you watch it a second time and it completely falls apart like there was nothing there to begin with. The love for this movie seriously bothers me, it is like people have been duped. Similar thing happened with Star Trek Into Darkness but people seemed to come around on that one pretty quickly.

Absolutely not. I saw the Cred Forums shitposting the night I returned from the theater having seen it the first time, and thought nothing of it. Just Cred Forums overreacting as normal. Then I saw it a second time at the theater. And by god did it fall apart completely.

Note though that though I agree with the general consensus of hate for the film on here, I don't necessarily agree with the common reasoning. All this mary sue shit, the prequels are better, whatever. No, TFA is, simply, a very poorly constructed story. Not even in comparison to the OT, just in comparison to other movies from 2015, it is a poorly constructed story.

I've never seen a director with a worse eye for cinematography than Abrams. Or worse, more confusing action choregraphy. And the way he hyper-edits his movies, it feels like a jackhammer in my brain.

Lucas and Abrams are the two most godawful mega-budget directors I've seen. But the only redeeming quality about Abrams is that he does get somewhat better acting performances from his cast than Lucas; in the prequel trilogy Christensen and Portman were the most unappealing screen couple ever put on film.

Isn't it interesting that the most intelligent SW movie, "Empire Strikes Back", is the one Lucas had the least to do with?

Prequels were bad. buuuut at least the first and the third have one Ultra Epic Scene timed with a excellent score by John Williams that make theat crap worthy. TFA had the Solo's death scene and a bland musical score.
