They then asked if I wanted to try their Kim Chi. Apart from not wanting to eat random Kim Chi, I was worried it was going to be drugged so I declined and made my way out the door. Then four others appeared to block my path and I noticed an open door leading to the observation room from the mirror. I got really angry and hip and shouldered my way out and grabbed my shoes and kicked the slippers into the garden. A documentary usually has a point, a ''thesis'' so to speak. The central thesis of essentially every Thorax documentary is: ''Let's visit these weird fringe people and humanize them.'' With the porn documentaries, there are actual arcs to the people who are featured.

With the Scientology doc they couldn't talk to anyone, so there was really nothing there. He did get Marty to show a side of himself that we haven't really seen, but that whole sub-plot went nowhere. And the re-enactment thing was an interesting idea, but very underwhelming in its execution. You're just get a few minutes of a guy doing a pretty good Miscavige impression.

It was doubly disappointing because it was his first movie documentary.
