Bump.

So how did all those /who/ fics go?

>After a particularly yummy biscuit the Doctor finds he has arrived in a ideal paradise. In this "unitverse" UNIT is an elite gardening organization which travels the world cleaning up weeds and planting victory gardens. The Doctor finds to his astonishment that he can not remove an eye patch that has mysteriously appeared on his face even though he is sure his eye is fine. Indeed everyone in the world has an eye patch except for one man - Brigade Leader Lethbridge-Stewart escorts the Doctor to a local pub at rake point and interrogates him over several pints of Guiness. The Doctor realises he has landed in a world of peace and harmony. An Earth which knows no war, no pain, no suffering, no distrust, no channel 5.

>le random lines from a random episode maymay
What is the purpose of this meme? Seriously, I don't see the appeal.

...

I rewatched Turn Left the other day and what struck me was how Donna lands in the middle of 2008 London wearing a dirty jacket full of wires and nobody bats an eyelid at her!

It's just cyberpunk.

WELCOME BACK, LEFTY!

It's the socially awkward variant of the 'funny lines from an episode' maymay. It spawned when some people really wanted to join in but didn't quite understand what to do.

They've only filmed 4 episodes. CGI probably isn't even done yet. They just finished filming the christmas special too. I'm not expecting anything but a small clip desu.

Christmas trailer, followed by a clip or two of Series 10?

Handles.

The scene where he died was one of the most poignant moments of Who. The Doctor should have saved him instead of Clala.

Because the thing is, it’s like my friend Vicky,

Clips always suck, because out of context they are terrible and cringy as fuk

No-one bats an eyelid at anything in London.

If the TARDIS hasn't dematerialised, then fantastic. Just be a dear and flip the door open switch. If the TARDIS has dematerialised, then I'm going to have to teach you advanced temporal mechanics, and that could take awhile. So get a pen and paper, and get damned good with drawing irrational

What?

This. I remember when they used the "I'm The Doctor and I save people" line in the trailer and I thought it was going to be like that shitty scene in Voyage but in context it was completely different than what I thought it was going to be.

As you come into this world, something else is also born. You begin your life, and it begins a journey towards you. It moves slowly, but it never stops. Wherever you go, whatever path you take, it will follow — never faster, never slower, always coming. You will run, it will walk. You will rest, it will not. One day, you will linger in the same place too long — you will sit too still, or sleep too deep. And when, too late, you rise to go, you will notice a second shadow next to yours. Your life will then be over.

It's an Easter Egg - the left TARDIS door flap opens to reveal Davison. It's just amusing that the Dalek ray gun, once the door is opened, is in the unfortunate position by Davison's crotch...

>replying to bait
just ignore it senpai. that user has been doing that particular bait for awhile now.

Ohhhhhhh. Thanks, probably sounded like bait in retrospect so thanks for keeping /who/ comfy and being nice.

Series 11 will be worse. I'm just going to enjoy Moff's last series, before Chris wrote fucking shite Dinosaurs on a Spaceship Chibnall takes over.

You do that, you do that now!

I saw that picture for the first time yesterday and this is the first time I've actually been on /who/ in months. Insulting someone that gives someone else the benefit of the doubt is why /who/ isn't as comfy anymore.

I wasn't saying the picture was bait. I was saying the guy who said Series 9 was "no fun allowed" was the bait.

Now I feel stupid again. Sorry, I read that post with the other one highlighted and I got a little mixed up. I need to take a nap.

youtube.com/watch?v=i0-uv--XCgU The finest

That's okay user. Take it easy.

This.

Anyone who thinks Series 9 was good is wrong.

CC worse than Moff? kek okay

Shite Dinosaurs... you do realise Moff's written his fair share of shite too?

Assuming Chris would not imitate Moffat's style it would make current problems go away. It will add new and exciting batch of problems, but that would be different story.

Chibnall hasn't written any good episodes.

I wish this wasn't true.

He's wrote a couple good Torchwood eps.

No they were shit.

Not that guy but no, they were really quite good outside of Cyberwoman and arguably End of Days.

They really weren't. What was good about them?

Countrycide was a great thriller with an unexpecting twist, Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang was a better season premiere than any of RTD Who and Fragments/Exit Wounds were just GOAT.

I came to tell you... I have looked at all possible futures... and in every one, the result is the same. You have to die. Or she will have to.

Handles was definitely the best nuwho companion.

Weird how it didn't have a Cyberman voice, but it worked. Handles was pretty great

If they can announce it on their facebook then why can't they also announce it on their own site for those of us who don't do facebook?

Was Gareth Roberts asked if he would take the show-runner position?

Time of the Doctor is a much under-rated episode. IMHO.

Why is the Eighth Doctor in Steven Universe?

Hmmmmmm

gr8 b8

Not pretty enough to be Eight.

It's one of the few NuWho episodes I have rewatched. Not so much because it was particularly good but because xmas TV is pretty shite. It was a pretty comfy episode though.

...

It's a shame they drag out the wacky nude comedy shit, but once you wade through that, yeah, it's a nice episode :)

>not "from the universe of Doctor Poo"

>comparing young Eight to Time War Eight
It's cannon m80, just accept it

Do you think every guy with longish hair and who wears a long coat is the eighth dr?

>Still not changing your trip to "wanderer in the 4th dimenchan"
You're in no position to criticize other people.

I've always thought Matt Smith's performance in this episode wasn't appreciated at the time.

He gradually went from a young looking yet strangely old man, to a very old man, weary and confused by the end.

I sometimes wonder, as well as making him age so BF could come back to any-age-11 in the future, if they aged Matt to pave the way for an older Doctor in Capaldi too.

2 DAYS

"3 positive qualities about Bill: she's got a very big heart, she's instinctive, and she's very quick witted, so very quick to respond to questions, that kind of thing... I would also say that they are negative qualities, or can be negative qualities, because sometimes they work in her favour and sometimes they don't ... like anyone, sometimes things that you think are successful aren't necessarily going to go that way"

Oh good, Bill's just a black Clara

Big heart
Instinctive
Quick witted
...up there with 'feisty' and 'quirky' in terms of meaning fuck all.

>Bill's just a black Clara
Who was a brunette Amy

Who was a skinnier Donna

Who was a redhead River Song

Nah, Donna was actually good.

it's just moffat in a wig anyway.

This could almost describe any character in anything.

She might as well have just said "sassy and independant".

None of the NuWho companions were good.

Except Donna and Handles. The rest were insufferable cunts or total cucks.

Ironically, two of the best nuWho companions were just secondary characters: Wilf and Brian

I don't count them as companions.

theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2016/oct/05/doctor-who-pearl-mackie-new-series-companion-interview?CMP=share_btn_tw

>All she will tell me is that she enjoys bringing her stage-combat skills to the fight scenes and has already done one of her own stunts

>“I knew I could bring her to life. She’s funny and geeky and vulnerable. There’s a goofiness to her and a big heart. She gets things wrong, she has a temper. I thought, ‘I know her. I could play her.’”

I wish we'd seen more of Clara's family in s8 and s9. Her Gran was a great character for the brief times we saw her.

For all his faults, RTD certainly made his characters more 'real' and sympathetic to viewers by also involving the companions' families in the show.

>For all his faults, RTD certainly made his characters more 'real' and sympathetic to viewers by also involving the companions' families in the show.
This. Moffat is AWOL on making characters feel like real people.

Calling them characters is a little too generous of you tbqh.

Moff only brings family in when it suits the plot, but it never feels real. Amy gets her parents back at the end of Series 5 ffs, and we never see them again. And Brian only pops up 2 episodes before the Ponds die. And Clara's gran showed up twice when they wanted us to feel sad.

I'm not saying we need constant family appearances, but we've never even had Clara refer to friends she had back at home. Not even a phone call to her father or anything like that.

Martha's family was fudged, but the Tylers and Nobles were pretty decent for the most part. Scenes like Donna and Wilf chatting at the dinner table in Sontaran Stratagem, and Rose calling her mum when the Earth's about to explode in the far future, really ground and make the characters feel that bit more real.

>but we've never even had Clara refer to friends she had back at home. Not even a phone call to her father or anything like that.

And I suggest this is probably very deliberate. If we were reminded of family commitments regularly then it makes us question the companions motives for travelling and seeking deadly danger for fun.

yeah, I really liked those recurring casts as well. Compared to that the Clara-seasons feel kind of.. I don't know, lonely.

Deliberate? Nah. Moffat just can't be arsed having to deal with a companion's family, so just throws a scene or two in at random somewhere and ignores them for the rest of it.

Reminder that Neil Cross once said he asked for character notes about Clara and that the one of the few notes he got back from Moffat and his team was "Clara is a normal girl."

Moffat's just shit at creating ordinary people, hence random changes in character all the time and not wanting to bother with family ties etc.

Yes

There are many potential stories, via books and also audios, for the siege of Trenzalore.

The Tales of Trenzalore book is good.

The very first shot of the Christmas special is the TARDIS buried in snow and the Doctor emerges from it like 11 when he crashed in Amelia's garden.

Pearl Mackie doesn't appear.

Guys, we're not getting anything DW related. They will be showing a Class trailer that will also air on BBC One to promote the spin off. Releasing a DW trailer or anything would take the spotlight off Class and they don't want that.

Lower your expectations.

Not true, Class and DW are two seperate panels. There'll be a clip/teaser with each.

Yes but there won't be any trailer or clip for DW.

You are wrong.

"Fans will get a sneak peek of what’s ahead including the upcoming Christmas Special this December and hints on what’s in store for Steven Moffat’s final season as showrunner."

>space.ca/show/doctor-who/episode/tardisinto-doctor-who-facebook-live/965971/
Bill is "feisty". Brian Minchin never needs to say "we've done that before" (methinks he needs to read the scripts more closely then). The Doctor can't remember Clara at all (yay). Bill "loves sci-fi", she's inquisitive, quick-witted. The American/Canadian host is insufferable.

But Doctor Who's doesn't.. not until Friday morning.

there's a panel with Matt and two of his companions tomorrow though

apparently Matt makes mad bank from these con appearances

>The most sought-after stars include Reedus (one convention owner says he easily could command a $200,000 guarantee and pocket $500,000 per weekend), Andrew Lincoln (who donates his proceeds to charity), Star Wars great Mark Hamill and anyone who played Doctor Who. Sources say ex-Doctor Matt Smith collected $250,000 per weekend at a string of recent events, with any former Doctor said to easily score six figures.

hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/stars-getting-rich-fan-conventions-933062

Good for him. But, uh, Matt is nothing to do with current Doctor Who anymore so, not being funny, but who cares? Karen Gillan will be around too... so? They're there for other things.

You're just backtracking cos you first believed the Class/DW panel was "TOMORROW" and have since realised they're not, and it's just that NYCC itself starts up tomorrow ;)

>with any former Doctor said to easily score six figures.
Think of it Colin All those pies

Isn't that more than he got paid per day for actually playing the Doctor?

>You're just backtracking
Chill out m8 this is my first post in the thread

I wanted to post the article about how much money they make off of these conventions and I thought it was a good segue

...

...

You mean "First Doctor companion" Barbara?

>barbara

...

Why not both?

Did they ever explain what happened to the Mondas Cybermen? They just replaced them with the shitty robot zombie Cybus versions and never spoke of them again.

The ones from Series 6 and onward are the Mondas Cybermen, I think. But it's not really made clear since the Cybermen are often afterthoughts in NuWho, even in their own stories.

But.. they're exactly the same as the Cybus ones.
It's funny how a lot of people say that the Cybermen are their favorite monsters, but no one seems to give a shit about them.

Matt Smith (apparently) earned £200K per year as the Doctor.

(As a comparison, Tennant earned £1m per year.)

They just don't have many good stories sadly.
All the RTD ones were terrible. Closing Time and Nightmare In Silver also sucked. Dark Water/Death In Heaven was the best usage of them in NuWho and they were basically in the background and didn't do much.

They were great because they were scary. They didn't spout catchphrases. They were mostly silent. Of course they ruined it by the end, but yeah. It was the best they've been in forever.
I cannot fucking stand the upgraded versions.

They're exactly the same because nobody wanted to go through the effort of clearly establishing the Mondas Cybermen. Why bother?

I mean, apart from the obvious answer of not being lazy as fuck.

I wonder how much he's getting for The Crown, less or more than DW? It's supposedly one of the most expensive TV series ever made per episode. I wonder what most of the budget is spent on.

Sets and costumes presumably, same as Victoria (crossover when?)

Plague of the Cybermen is p good

Every time I see a New Series Adventure I shed a tear for the death of Doctor Who cover art.

I weep for those who'd be perfectly willing to draw Eccleston, Tennant, Smith, and Capaldi very badly but will never get the chance.

This was a nifty one as far as graphic design goes

I don't get it.

Reminder Moffat literally left Doctor Who because he missed Jenna.

>The man I hope you are with.

The Doctor confirmed for never wanting to be a woman.

...

>yfw the flashbacks are just to explain Nardole not being a head

Hey that's a nice brown Clara! Where can I see the whole thing?

Capaldi saying Xmas is going to be like one of those lovely Christmas movies you adore and watch every year.

Means it's going to be shite.

Moffat's heart hasn't been in it for a while. Series 9 felt very phoned in.

No, but everyone is allowed in

MACKIE CONFIRMED THE "GUMS, BROWS AND HAIRLINE" COMPANION THEN

...

It probably helps if you're familiar with the premise of "This Is Your Life" where guests are surprised and then walked through their lives in front of an audience. Tom Baker was once on an episode, I think.

TRAILER FOR SERIES 10 + CHRISTMAS SPECIAL CONFIRMED

FUCK YOU

BACK TO HYPING NOW

kek

Where did you find it ? I've always wanted to read that one.

...

...

Haunting text. This always gets me no matter how many times I read the episode because all I can think about are the (obvious) parallels to what dying is actually like.

...

Why? It's meaningless, shoved into the opening of the episode for no reason other than to sound good. It doesn't add anything or relate to the episode in any way.

it's on the vk-page under Doctor Who Magazine (Special Editions)

You should really go back to /b

You know nothing about Doctor Who, Capaldi's statement confirms that it wont be edgy sad companion shit like the last was, it will be a proper story

I know nothing about Doctor Who
Okay mate
Okay

*Capaldi regenerates at the end of series 10
*The Voord are back with a different design.
*Chibnall has been working with Moffat to ensure that his vision for the status quo of the series is in place when he takes over.
*Missy is back (obviously).
*Captain Jack is back. His dynamic with Capaldi is a lot different to his dynamic with 9 and 10.
*The Daleks are the main villains in the two-parter finale.

>the voord
Who?

Dude, christmas specials are always at least 99% shite.

> Voord
Yeah okay

Go back wherever you come from

Christmas Carol is on top 3 greatest NUwho episodes

ACC is shite.

I haven't watched a single episode of Doctor Who since the christmas special. Is this a good or bad thing?

Thats 2016 /who

I hope you end yourself soon

Death wish, nice, thanks. You seem like a cool guy.

>*The Voord are back with a different design.
You know it to be true

The Wizard of Oz

>Sets and costumes presumably, same as Victoria (crossover when?)
Already happened m8.

bad bait m8

>Captain Jack is back
hahahahaha
In your dreams Barrowman.

Not bait. Genuine opinion. It serves to add nothing; just pretentious sounding waffle to open the ep.

You're retarded m8 if you can't see how it relates to the episode.

Cheers mate, you seem like a lovely person!

No, pray tell, how does that pretentious twaddle tie into the episode then? I know it's scrawled on the wall at the start, for some reason(??) but... nope, I'm at a loss.
