The movie already made enough money on theaters, but EVERYONE knows about the "deleted scenes that made the movie worse" and now are going to buy the "real deal".

There's also the big possibility that they didn't plan this. They weren't going to release an extended cut. But when everyoen started saying the movie was botched, and after the BvS blu-ray sales, they realized that making an extended cut would boost the blu-ray sales as well.
