>yfw finale tonight

Probably not
OPM is meant to be a parody/deconstruction of the superhero genre, it wouldn't really work as a hollywood movie

Anime is dying, and it's well over due. The golden age was the late 90's. Anyone who still watches it are utter losers.

>The golden age was the late 90's

>a parody/deconstruction of the superhero genre
>not working well as a Hollywood movie
I don't follow. Surely at this point, the public has been exposed to superheroes enough that they can appreciate jokes making fun of it.

>anime

OPM is not quipy.

this meta Quip shit is cancer.

Golden age of anime was the 80s when Japan had infinite budget.
The last great anime was Cowboy Bebop (1998)
The last really good anime was FLCL (2000)

Since then it's been nothing but shitty CGI.

Do you actually watch anime or did you just form an opinion based on recommendations all being older animes?

There are a lot of good animes that have come out recently.

Think quip, user

MY. FUCKING. NIGGER

the fucking trips of truth ladies and gentlemen, this is also, coincidentally, exactly how I feel about the current state of anime. Cowboy Bebop is a goddamned masterpiece, FLCL was the last new material I enjoyed, and everything thats come out after FLCL has sucked ass

>dying
They're cranking out pure kino every year.

you sound like a faggot

and yet we both got trips...

Think quip?

this is awesome

Been watching it since 1991. The stuff from the 80s has objectively better production values (what with it being the economic boom over there and all).

Nothing's caught my interest since FLCL. Even stuff with good plot or interesting premise (FLAG, Monster etc) looks cheap as fuck, and new action shows with an intriguing premise (Attack on Titan, shitty looking new Berserk) are based on manga that will literally never ever end,so we will never see a conclusion.

>namekino
Hopefully by the time it kicks off you'll be on /t/v/ and the real patricians will be on /film/

The whole point of saitama is that he can defeat anyone with one punch

Because of this, it would have no climatic/epic battle scenes that most capeshit fans would expect from a superhero movie

Stfu about cowboy bebop

faggot trips

>he thinks they can't have a climatic battle in OPM

The entire Sea king arc was nothing but pure heroism. Hollywood would taint it, but it's still there.

Boros

I would love to see a live action remake of Black Lagoon on Starz.

>been watching since 80s
>uses AoT and berserk as his examples

Yeah you're not going to see breath taking animation quality everywhere, but theres still good shit being made.

The only reason you think the past stuff is better is due to the filter of time sifting out the bad stuff.

Yeah, when Ghosts and Note bombs, this shit will hopefully gets brushed under the rug as yet another attempt of Hollywood of trying to garner an alien market.

>Note

Thats being made by the guy that did the new blair witch right?

At least ghost looks promising.

>that most capeshit fans would expect from a superhero movie
But they would be expecting a parody movie.

CGI isn't the problem, anime fans are

>There are a lot of good animes that have come out recently.
Name 50.
You can't.

>Tfw it will be years before we get a manga version of Tatsumaki x Saitama
>tfw it will be a decade or more to see it in the anime

Shirobako is worth 50 all by itself.

>your tastes suck because they're spoon fed
>spoon feed me

those are some pretty big feet

>late '90s
>golden age

Who would play him?

Depends on what genres you prefer, it was pretty good for action and light drama.

Colin Mochrie

Idris Elba

the best way to cast a live-action one-punch man movie would be to get incredibly famous actors to play every S-class hero (and sweet mask), and then a literally who to play saitama

Obviously.

Like Hancock

Or Super

Or kickass

Or Scott pilgrim vs the world

This.

but that's satire not parody.

>No way to have climactic/epic battle in OPM
user, I...
vimeo.com/149594621

Would've linked youtube, but all of them are reaction videos.

Also what said.
If Mumen Rider and pretty much everyone else going up against Sea King didn't feel like a heroic battle for you, I'm not sure what to say. Guess we're from too different cultures then.

>Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
>Satire

>OPM with this clip: youtube.com/watch?v=Py3qA3EkfwA especially near the end
>Not satire of modern superhero comics and movies

I don't know what this is but it was very interesting.

I think it's pretty self-explanatory: ASS FIGHTS

Do you know what satire is?

There are very few CGI anime. Are you referring to digital coloring?

Let me throw out some recs for you, boyo. I'm not gonna overwhelm you with bullshit. These four probably fall under the mature category I assume you're looking for.

Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu
Shinsekai Yori
Baccano
Planetes

I hated how melodramatic this show ended up being, the first half where it was basically all comedy was 10/10

>implying

Boros only works if it's firmly established that Boros is desperate to feel alive again, and Saitama in some ways understands this on a personal level.

The fight would be a forelong conclusion, but it would be visually impressive and purposefully extravagant.

An afterimage? NANI>!

Anyone have gifs of the manga that show just how much effort the artist put into it?

Sh-she's fast!

Like this?

Vin Diesel

This is meta as fuck, I love it.

Melodramatic? It can't stay an absurd comedy forever, it needs bits to show there's an actual world behind the laughs.

Besides, most of King's arc and quite a bit of Garou and Blizzard are funny, as is the fight between Saitama and the sassy lost child.

What are the odds that Sonic breaks his limiters like Saitama did? What about Mumen Rider?

Or this?

Yessss, I remember there was another one with the meteor that was particularly amazing with the zoom-out and 3D floating kanji.

A ridicule, vitriolic parody.

Scott Pilgrim is a lot of things, but it's not harsh against the medium. If anything, it's a love letter to it.

OPM goes a long way in places (for example the backlash after the clip mentioned) to remove any heroic air from such big action set pieces that only care about the big picture.

It might be a fine line with OPM, but it feels less tongue-in-cheek in a lot of places, and more straight up satire.
Even more so of Shönen in general, if you look at Boros's boasting for example, or the mandatory "slap of realism mentor" character Saitama casually kicks to the curb when he comes to explain how the world of heroes really works and tries to rookie crush him.

?

Ooooooh actually, yeaaah, good call.

OPM could stay a ridiculous satire without going full melodrama.

shit it could even have dramatic moments without trying to force them so hard

>that fucking bicyclist scene

That's bullshit. Anime is all digital now, therefor the quality is shit.
Anime plot has always been shit but moreso recently
>I'm going to a wacky fucking school!
>I'm a fucking god who has to fight god!

>Implying the Cyclist for Justice wasn't the tightest shit

Who would play her?

It was really generic anime schlock, that scene where he was crying about some stupid shit for like 5 minutes straight was so irritating.

>not h-hayai!
bokeh

>What are the odds that Sonic breaks his limiters like Saitama did
0
>mumen rider
very high

I gotcha, senpai.

>shouwa genroku

YES

YES A THOUSAND TIMES YES

LITERALLY CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS SHOW ENOUGH

This is Cred Forums son we speak AMERICAN here.

no one would be able to play saitama

Who would play him?

>that scene where he was crying about some stupid shit for like 5 minutes straight was so irritating.

I think that was the point, user. Mumen Rider is a typical justice-obsessed protagonist with none of the bullshit special abilities.

>dem thighs

BREHS

Yeah, exactly, it was generic anime schlock, there wasn't even any element of satire there.

What was the last actually good anime? There were some stupid shows that were fun to watch with Cred Forums back in the day like Code Geass, but I don't even think they make those anymore.

Dwayne Johnson

Ajin was pretty good, S2 starts like tomorrow

>dubfags

>Limiters

I haven't read the manga since is all scribbles again, are this limiters the reason to Saitamas powers?

what

The exact opposite outcome of a typical anime schlock occured.
He lost horribly in that fight, what are you even on about.

What about Samurai Champloo. Don't know how you can love Bebop but not at least like Champloo?

But that kind of shit always happens in generic anime.

t. mature 15 year old Cred Forumsedditor

Underrated.

Seriously, if you don't think Colin couldn't turn "I' just a guy who's a hero for fun" into pure gold with his delivery or that with his looks he wouldn't fit 100% with every character's reaction to Saitama then I don't know what to tell you.

If it was generic anime schlock than Mumen Rider would have been able to defeat the Sea King or at least hold his own in some capacity before Saitama arrived, the entire scene was meant to phone in that big dramatic speeches and the support of a crowd filled with small children cheering you on *does not work.*

That's basically the Sea King's entire schtick, he was an extremely deadly opponent that did not give second chances, did not pull punches, and did not fall into the tropes or pitfalls most anime villains make.

The protagonist gets his shit beaten in and *then* wins after getting the hearts and minds of the people on his side. Mumen Rider got all that, and he got clobbered.

Bebop is cliche ridden shit

>>mumen rider
>very high

>Implying Mumen Rider isn't a manifestation of the spirit Saitama lost after becoming practically a god, or the other way around

Scott Eastwood, obviously.

It's all headcanon, no one knows why he's so strong.

This is pretty much the Homer of Japan.

The 2011 adaptation is pretty good too.

Naruto did that same shit like 5 times.

simpson or tragedy

...did you even watch the anime

>OPM is meant to be a parody/deconstruction of the superhero genre

I fucking hate faggots like you that repeat this shit over and over for every shitty weeb show. Evangelion comes to mind

>Dude so le smart XD le deconstruction of le mecha genre lmao XD

KYS yourself

I thought Bang was the one to discuss limiters, and as far as we know Bang has been one of the most level-headed characters concerning the nature of power in the series.

sorry you don't get it.

Mumen Rider is probably going to be Saitama's replacement in much the same way Saitama was Blast's replacement.

showa is overrated bullshit

only tryhards like it

He does but it's not the given reason, just a guess. Could always turn out to be something fucked up.

Meant to said Togashi(Author) is Homer, HxH being his Iliad.

it was still a cringeworthy scene that failed at being a proper parody

the ending saved it from being awful but the scene dragged on way too long and didn't do a good job of feeling even slightly satirical until mumen rider got rekt

You are retarded. Anime industry is growing like crazy.

12% more revenue this year than 2015.

Meanwhile Hollywood sold the least tickets since fucking 1920.

ping pong
kaiji
kuuchuu buranko
garo s1
tiger & bunny
concrete revolutio

>comparing revenue to ticket sales

From this season?

Izetta. Show by Rock. Keikaku. Vivid Strike. Flip Flappers.

>tfw will never see the Garou fight in the anime

What kind of voice would he even have, anyway.

2016 is the worst year for cinema in two decades. And industry wasn't growing for many years.

Meanwhile anime industry is growing around 10% each year. More than Chinese economy.

>2016 is the worst year for cinema in two decades. And industry wasn't growing for many years.

I desperately hope Hollywood realizes from this year's disastrous showings that lazy remakes, reboots and rehashes just don't bring in the cash anymore, even if they stuff them full of topical SJW appeasement (actually, *especially* if they do that.)

there's a whole lot more to Hollywood revenue than the box office

lol those were probably the biggest hits

Merchandise that's not Star Wars isn't doing so hot either. Avengers hype died out. DC is a failure.

The dub is so fucking bad. Opm has comedic elements but the dub makes the whole thing seem like a joke. I don't see why its acceptable to get voice actors who put in maybe an 8th of the work and talent as everyone else involved in an anime like this

Fucking kek

This season has a few.
3 Gatsu no Lion, Hibike Euphonium and Show By Rock second seasons, Natsume Yuujinchou, Yuri On Ice (figure skating show with ridiculous production planning and decent budget)

probably because they figure anyone that cares will just watch the subbed version

The dub was *okay* for half of the series, honestly. I was fine with Saitama's voice, Sonic's and Genos and the funny banter that would go on between them.

That said, the moment it became the Boros arc and we heard Tatsumaki and the rest of the S-classes really start talking was the moment I just had to turn it off. The only S-class with a halfway good voice was the swordsman.

this

and this

>tfw I remember when the appeal of anime in the 90's was the how it exploited graphic images because it was a cartoon on television or detailed foreign story telling

modern anime is glorified porn

Only correct choice.

>talks about golden age of anime
>posts gif from Genocyber

>people actually watch this
embarrassing

Problem Child 2

>the one manga series that would work incredibly well as a western live action will never be published in english because it's too long and outdated looking
;_;

Bolos vs Saitama was stupid

The only reason it was a fight was because Saitama was holding back.

>Saitama understands that this creature is suffering from the same sense of pointlessness he is
>Tries to give him what he wants
Yeah, totally stupid, why would he do that? Was the writer high lads?

still 2 months for the year

It's not a climactic fight and not any different from anything else Saitama does.

I'm not sure what the point of OPM is or where it's going but I think that was the point of that fight. Even the most powerful being in the universe cannot challenge him. He's become detached and bored with everything, like Dr. Manhattan.

Shokugeki no Souma is excellent.

please kill yourself

it's reddit: the anime

definitely up there in terms of shitty new anime

Anyone seen Your Name yet? I'm a big fan of Shinkai but I don't like to watch it until I can import a blu-ray copy.

Boros is just alien Saitama, both going through life unable to find a real fight and bored to death because of it. Saitama instantly realizes this and decides to give Boros the joy of a real battle before killing him.

The thing is though that he fails. Boros realizes at the last moment that it was never a real fight, Saitama was going easy on him on purpose. Not only that, but Boros knows what Saitama did for him, and feels terrible that he couldn't provide the same thing for Saitama.

It's not a climactic battle, and there shouldn't be, because you can't have a climactic battle when the premise of the show is a protagonist with absolute power.

I mean I completely agree, but I would say that in a strange kind of way, the Boros fight IS a climactic battle.

It is a climactic battle for Boros, that as you say he realizes was all for naught, but it is still one in that.

"You lie. You had strength to spare. I never stood a chance. It wasn't even a battle. So much for prophecies. You were too strong... Saitama..."

;_;

thats what anime is tho, due to the fact that japanese people try to avoid anything foreign by all cost, they created an incesteous, degenerative enviroment where everything becomes an in joke and a deconstruction of itself.

Anime and Manga with western influences are generally pretty great tho.

>OPM is meant to be a parody/deconstruction of the superhero genre,
And yet its another shitty shonen with no plot and mary sue protagonist.
Explain yourself onefags.

Idris Elba

honestly King's voice and psychic loli are the only ones with bad dubbed actors.

>HxH good
maybe if you are into gay shota

>he doesn't watch Toonami with the general and laugh at the shows

Meme Le Meme was a better animeme than One Meme Man. And don't even get me started on Attack on Memetan.

Sad!

Trump plz, we know you'll make anime great again.

You think that's sad? Wait until they get around to doing the Garou fight.

Murata is one of the best mangaka working today.

His art is top tier.

He practically begged ONE to remake the manga with his art because he enjoyed the story so much.

Fuck One Reddit Man. Give me an americanized version of Garupan.

>Meme Le Meme

I don't believe you've ever watched an actual 90's TV anime.
Most of them looked cheap as fuck too.

So perfect

the point is that cheap 90s stuff looks better than cheap 2010s stuff, and good 90s stuff looks better than good 2010s stuff

kyoani are the undisputed masters of japanimation kino

A lot of keyframes are still drawn traditionally before being digitized.

vimeo.com/93303169

"no"

...

>kyoani is doing fanservice shit now
Got out of anime in just the right time

they've been doing it since the early 2000's.
