>"But what is happiness"

>[YouTube] Don Says: "I Don't Think About You At All" (embed)
Don kept acquiring more of Ayn Rand's philosophies ever since Sterling Cooper asked him to read Atlas Shrugged in season one. Draper must have taken a liking to her books, since he used a quote straight from the pages of The Fountainhead. The amount of character development detail in this series is impeccable.

>There is no Big Lie. There is no System. The universe is indifferent.

>The reason you haven’t felt it is because it doesn’t exist. What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons. You’re born alone and you die alone and this world just drops a bunch of rules on top of you to make you forget those facts. But I never forget. I’m living like there’s no tomorrow, because there isn’t one.

>Nostalgia - it's delicate, but potent. Teddy told me that in Greek, "nostalgia" literally means "the pain from an old wound." It's a twinge in your heart far more powerful than memory alone. This device isn't a spaceship, it's a time machine. It goes backwards, and forwards... it takes us to a place where we ache to go again. It's not called the wheel, it's called the carousel. It let's us travel the way a child travels - around and around, and back home again, to a place where we know are loved.

Always Something There to Remind Me

Summerman does have the best Henry line

>hate's a strong word betty. I hate nazis

Henry could be based at time. I liked his anger and dismay at Betty being a massive cunt to Carla.

Mad Men had the highest women to qt ratio in all of TV

I still think Danger 5 is the show with the most attractive women. Everyone was 9/10 or above.

Gas yourself kike

I just realized I haven't watched any mad men since the series finale. Its a perfect time for a rewatch since the memory isn't too fresh.

Perfectly thicc

Pete has an amazing story arc, it always amazes me how well acted his absurd situations are

>tfw andie macdowell's daughter is a fucking 10

>betty's letter to sally

Same. I NEVER get that emotionally invested into a show, but that was a fucking gut punch. And for a character I didn't even like.

>you will never comfort Sally
Why do we bother living

haha stupid bitch got rekt

I love Pete for the soul fact that he makes me laugh. Tossing Trudy's chicken off the balcony and then putting the beer bottle in her cake. His best moments to me because they were premeditated. If he were to just throw all of the food on the floor that would be impulsive, but he took that chicken and threw it over calmy. He thought it out. The same with the cake. He had been looking at it the whole time. Pete is one of my favorites for sure

>for the soul fact

Pete did have a lot of soul for a white guy, tho

also remember when he got cucked by that Chad in driving class?

Yes that's why I like him so much I can relate. Well except the silver spoon
Also how cute is little Peggy?

I always thought it was weird how PC he was considering his upbringing and attitude. Really interesting facet of his character. I was really sad when it didn't work out with Trudy but that gave us one of my favorite lines in the entire show.

>Peggy get out of here and move forward. It never happened. It will shock you how much it never happened

Yes, Don came back to work on the Coca-Cola ad at McCann to leave his definite legacy to that vindictive world. Then he retired and lived the rest of his days in California fucking bitches, or maybe he found a girl like the one he met on his first trip to California that let him screw around.

also This Will Be Our Year went together really well with that moment

The ending of The Gypsy and the Hobo is just too damn perfect.

>and who are you supposed to be?

>I really wish Don and Sally got a proper good-bye in the final (half)season

I kind of agree, but I feel like when shows try too hard to deliver on "goodbye scenes" or telegraphed final scenes between two characters, it feels kind of sitcom-y and too much like fiction. With Mad Men and other shows like it, you're supposed to feel like life went on after the finale. Having too many farewell scenes kind of ruins that.

So she basically took Don's advice better than Don ever did? I never thought about it that way.

I hated father Gill for reminding her of this constantly. I wanted to punch that faggot so much tbqh

Right, Don's advice works but only if you keep on running. I think in the last episode he goes back to McCann because he's made peace with his two selves, and doesn't have to keep running anymore.

I actually like the way they ended it with Don putting her on that bus. That was a really great scene, very underrated I always thought

She meant something to him. She was a way to give himself and his children something he missed out on as a child and he felt they needed.

>tfw got into mad men late and only got to experience /scdp/ for season 7b

is mad men only good because it was a period show? what if it was set in modern day? would it have held up?

It's good because it's well written and well acted. Sure, part of the allure was the escapism of the 60s, but it could have been set in modern day, it would be a different show though

if Mad Men wasn't set in the 60s it wouldn't have been Mad Men. They're as intertwined as Christmas and candy canes.

I dunno, both are about equality shit to me. Kardashian/Real Housewife type shows are even worse though.

I just finished my second time through the series, and now I know it's my favourite show. The first time around I somehow didn't enjoy it that much.

Fuck why couldn't you just put aside your pride and ask Don for a loan when you knew he gave Campbell money for nothing. I guess you wouldn't be you though. RIP in peace. ;_;

I didn't really like it THAT much the first time around. Is it worth the effort coming back to it again?

>when he fucked up pete

My heart shattered when Don moved into Lane's office and found the Mets flag

STANDING

Yes. I first tried it when I was seventeen and there were only two seasons and found it boring. I gave it another try a year later and fell in love with the show.

I thought it was so cute when he comforted Joan

...

I thought it was cute when he had his favorite playboy waitress. Not afraid of that chocolate

>Don is widely regarded as being a master in his field

He had been a shitting it up for a while

Favorite season lads? Or feel free to rank.

Unpopular opinion but my favorite was 6

For me:
4 > 5 > 3 > 2 = 6 > 7 = 1

>always drunk
>always late
>sleeps at work
>disappears all the time

...

How so?

He even set up the merger for his half.

Hadn't he done that since season 1? I was under the impression the higher ups could just do that shit, him especially because he's creative.

>I know cooler heads should prevail and all, but does anyone else really want to see this?

Why was Joan so anti-Draper when they were considering firing him in season 6?

Because she had conflicted emotions and complex pathologies towards him.

Don in the earlier seasons drank but he could hold it. Later he started to overindulge and it became obvious (eg. vomiting at Mrs. Sterling's funeral). Basically his work was being affected in the later seasons while it wasn't in the earlier ones.

She needed someone to blame for all the bad feelings she had about her life.

He told Jaguar to go fuck themselves which prevented SCDP from going public, which

A) Lost her a shitload of potential money

and

B) Made her feel like she prostituted herself to that fat slob for nothing

It wasn't just Joan, everyone was getting pretty tired of Don's shit by Season 6, but were still loyal to him when Cutler wanted to oust him for good because he was their "guy". Cooper talking to Roger about it was one of the most underrated scenes in the show, and Cooper's last scene actually alive besides "Bravo" if I'm not mistaken.

>tfw not sure if she is hot or not

Had the same feeling with the female leads from Six Feet Under tbqh.

>peggy
>not hot

Early season Peggy was an uggo. She got better looking as the series went on but I wouldn't call her hot.

she's actually not

But Peggy will only jerk someone else off if you annoy her whereas Brenda will get gangbanged by a bunch of stoners just for fun and not even to spite you.

she reminds me of ayn rand. i forgive her though since she's probably the greatest female character ever written

Peggy a cute

>7head

I want to dry hump Peggy in one of those skirts and make a mess of her

But also I want to hug her tight and tell her how appreciated and important she is

layne is an underrated character

Agreed. Most people probably can't even spell his name correctly

what kind of name is lane anyway.

Am I the only on who really liked Betty? Particularly season 1-3.

I went from liking her to kinda resenting her to wanting to hatefuck her to eventually pitying her then being happy for her then being absolutely crushed at how her story was gonna play out

the worst part was how it all falls on Sally when Henry is trying to console her and he breaks down crying

>Muh sexism
>Muh racism
shit show

Didn't really like her on my first watch.
Once I watched Shoot again I started to really like the character

those two things were pushed so far into the background you have no stable argument to make, just go find a capeshit thread to post in little guy

>and he breaks down crying

>Anna's niece being a whore and ditching Don at that crazy house

>Glenn didn't get a piece of dat sweet milf Betty

Fuck, he waited too damn long, he should have tried it when he was still a kid, she was probably messed up enough to go along with it then

>Don still keeping the pennant of the Mets up after finding it in Lane's office

Just whenever Don makes an outward gesture or sign that he's distressed about something. Like when he starts sobbing on the phone and calls Betty Birdy again.

I hated her the first time I watched but my second go through I just pitied her from the start and I can't really explain why but I found her arc really touching and sad.

I also liked how Sally was handled, reminded me of when I was a kid and my parents would dump their crippling depression thoughts onto me it and hardened me the fuck up (but I'm still a sensitive jelly worm inside)

>Like when he starts sobbing
>that scene in The Suitcase where he finds out Anna dies
>Peggy sitting there watching him

>tfw no spunky young protege to absorb your teachings and constantly undermine you in her odd manner of showing admiration/respect, eventually leading to you two growing close enough together that you can let the other see the hurt you carry inside and are willing to comfort each other

Peggy will never reach over her seat and quietly jerk you off in a smokey dark movie theater

>you will never watch her eyes, watch where her attention shifts as she rhythmically tugs and strokes at your hardened appendage, soon enough enticing the warm discharge out onto her hand before licking it clean

end me now

She didn't lick it clean, she washed her hands in the bathroom afterwards

don't ruin this for me fucker

>post yfw foreshadowing from Don

>you will never get drunk and watch Godzilla with Don and Lane
Why do we bother living?

>It's a Betty tells Henry to go in Sally's room and rape her friend episode

The 60's sure was a different time...

I GOT A BIG TEXAS BELT BUCKLE

Pryce, he was too pure for this world

Dawn, not a cunt like the others and chocolate skin

I can't remember any of the episode names but the one where Don goes to California and joins a group of weird rich people stands out, and in general all of the early episodes where Betty and Don had a normal relationship were gold.

Tossup between Megan's French singing at their apartment party and Don's hallucination of Cooper after he died, best scene in the series

I finished the series last year, however I felt like I wasn't into it until season five or so, are the first three seasons better on second viewing?

i also thought this show was really boring. i cant be the only one?

The Jet Set
Yep you get a lot more out of them, two and three especially

Never seen Six Feet Under?

You aren't the only one, but Mad Men to me is more gripping and exciting than the rest of the generic trash I try to force down these days. I usually can't even get through a single episode let alone finishing a movie, because it's all so transparent and badly written. But shows like Mad Men... the writing keeps me going episode after episode.

The Cranester
lmao who cares
Shut the Door Have a Seat
Carousel

This, Don went downhill significantly in the mid-late area of the series, and previously he mostly managed to keep his work-life dichotomy separate

baka, crane wasn't even being racist, pete is just a whiny bitch

JESUS FUCK THOSE TITS MAN

t. based Harry

>Don when he's with Peggy
>Peggy when she's with Don
>The one where Don cries and he puts his head in Peggy's lap and she lovingly strokes it
>He hit me and it felt like a kiss

>>He hit me and it felt like a kiss
>that scene where Henry's mom proudly tells Sally about the time she was a child and her father punted her across the room just because
Why are abused people always so proud of their abuse?

the ending to this episode made me so happy

kind of, partially due to this show, but still a classic
