There's an episode of Star Trek where Picard knowingly traps a time traveler from the past in the present, and instead of letting him travel back to his own time he arrests him and has permanently imprisoned at Star Fleet...

Yeah, but that guy was an asshole.

Slimy fuck shouldn't have attempted to steal Starfleet property.

he belongs in the trash

>"You caught me! I stole your stuff"
>he gets back in his pod and goes travels back in time

problem solved, Picard was a dick

What did they do with his shuttle?

Prison in the federation is better than normal life in the past

When Tom Paris was in prison he was just chilling on a beach in New Zealand

Can't do the time, don't do the crime.

I think it was set to travel through time on a timer, and they arrested him right as it was disappearing.

>abusing time travel for personal monetary gain
Yeah, the Federation is going to have your ass for that

it went back in time to new jersey.

So, why couldn't she sense that he was lying?

Literally just watched this episode last night

He could have totally fucked up the continuum if they allowed him to go on

Picard did the right thing as always

lying isn't an emotion

all she could sense was that he wanted to bury his face in her ass

>BOK [on viewscreen]: I insist on speaking of that matter in person. Shall we meet on your vessel or mine?
>(Troi signals the transmission cut)
>TASHA: Hailing frequencies closed.
>TROI: Captain, I sense considerable deception on Bok's part.
explain this

>time machine sent to new jersey in past
>federation lets you out of jail after few years.
>goto new jersey pick up your time machine.

>I'll let this thief go to placate that user's autismo 20 years in the future.
Sounds reasonable.

She can't read emotions from other time periods.

...

...satisfactory

He killed the original time traveller so I guess it would be a problem to have him running through history. Stole some stuff to invent early too and we all know how much the federation disapproves of humanity gaining even the slightest advantage.

You do have to wander though if that was the real story. How did he know how to find the Enterprise, fly the time machine through space and why did he even choose that time?

Because trapezoids are the galaxies greatest con-artists lying about emphatic ability to study the gullible federations technology.

that is the only way to preserve the timeline. If he went back the guy could do irrevocable damage to the timeline.

This your first encounter with time travel OP?

>>federation lets you out of jail after few years.
>few years
>not knowing he's used as a walking historical specimen for research for the rest of his days

...

I mean, is it possible she was just lying about being an empath, like every single one of them is lying? And it's just such an SJW world that everyone has to go along with it. So she gets through fucking Starfleet Academy by saying hey looks like trouble every time some minority alien hails with their weapons systems. Geez Troi, we'd have never known that Mexican wanted to rape everyone in room, what handy fucking data that is to know.

>Catch someone meddling with time travel for personal gain, proving they can and will destroy countless timelines through carelessness.
>Send them back so they can keep doing it
Are you fucking retarded?

Why would anyone build a time machine that goes to New Jersey ever?

why didnt he time travel to a time when tricorders were worthless shit no one cared about?

Temporal Prime Directive. Probably the most important rule in the entire Federation.

What happened to the time machine. You would think an impenetrable cube appearing would cause some problems for the timeline.

To hell with it.

She sensed that he was hiding something, but his excuse was that he was hiding information about the future (he originally claimed he was from the future, not the past).

lel one could demonstrate telepathy is real by following crime statistics that are ignored

>LAFORGE: Hey. So what happened to you two down on Mariposa? Is everything all right?
>RIKER: Is there any reason why it shouldn't be?
>LAFORGE: Yeah. Every time I asked where you were, some clone lied to me.
>RIKER: Lied to you?
>LAFORGE: Commander, with this I can see better than your average person. Now when someone lies there are certain physical manifestations. Variations in blush response, pupil dilation, pulse, breath rate. Doesn't always work with aliens, but humans? Got'em nailed.
Forget Troi, why couldn't Geordi see that Rasmussen was lying?

One can become so adept at spinning lies that they would no longer exhibit those physical manifestations.

What a D-D-D-Dick-k k.

Forgot pic like an alcoholic shithead.

Kek

I just watched the episode where she lost her powers.

Jesus fuck did that make me hate Troi. It was literally a Season 1 episode (writing-wise) in season 4.

Weird timing, I just watched this episode today at work.

Honestly if you let the timetraveler get away than he's just going to continue dicking around in time. Plus, he's a murderer, he's gonna have to pay for that. Plus, yeah, historians are gonna go apeshit over having someone they can get firsthand information from. Remember that there is a huge period of time in ST history after the Eugenics Wars where humans just don't know what the fuck happened. "Records from that period are fragmented" I think is the official Federation line.

Plus, Picard wanted to make him pay for him acting all smug and making Picard feel dumb after giving him that Prime Directive speech in his ready room.

Plus, the guy was an asshole, fuck him.

This.

Also, when Nick Locarno was in prison he was just chilling on a beach in New Zealand

How is that punitive at all? If it isn't punitive, what's the purpose?

Trash can man was gonna set fire to Enterprise.

He's a righteous man he's a righteous man.

I laughed really hard

It's not meant to be punitive, it's meant to be rehabilitative, you dumb American.

Geordi sucks with people, he wouldn't understand

Same for Bashirs dad.

>how to spot americans

How is vacation a rehabilitation for aberrant behavior?

And when Babu Bhatt was in prison, he was just chilling on a beach in New Zealand.

But Jerry is still a very very bad man.

Get out of my country within 24 hours.

star trek is an american show you ungrateful fuck

There are still restrictions placed upon you against your will, like being unable to leave New Zealand and being forced to interact with New Zealanders.

This. Also, the Federation headquarters and academy are is San Francisco.

Uh oh, I can see the Americans getting triggered. Is it past their bedtime already?

Starfleet headquarters are in San Fransisco, but Federation headquarters are in Paris.
>Americans in charge of watching star Trek

What does San Francisco have to do with America?

toplel

dude i'm not the one who fucking came on this website and started shit flinging at my fellow star trek fans

fuck off

>Paris now an English colony

It's actually kinda fucked up how many times Picard is completely okay with condemning people to awful fates because of Starfleet directives before finally ending up helping them in a "SIGH well I guess now we have to do something" manner.

and I'm Javert

I'm not the one who thinks that prisons should be for punishment instead of rehabilitation.

That's America.

Picard basically does everything based on the Prime Directive.

It's his crew that goes around fucking shit up 99% of the time.

i can't deal with this anymore

don't expect any replies from me in future trek threads, asshole

How many layers of """refugee""" are you on right now?

You'll reply

You said that last time too, and it wasn't true then either.

I fucking hated her. She was so useless. Reminded me of palm readers or something at a carnival. They always give vague hints but nothing specific.

Why was she in uniform this episode and not her purple pajamas

How many times did Troi save the Fucking Enterprise you Motherfuckers you!

Ronny Cox

0

I never got this, how could she read emotions and shit over the screen, did the video feed also send emotion waves?

and dont say its because she was a psychologist, there are plenty of times she said "I cant explain it, but I sense a hidden secret/hostility/force" so she wasnt reading their body language or faces

...

I thought she was cute but only as a supporting character. I skipped out whenever she was the central protagonist. Couldn't honestly bring myself to care about her stories. They should have made her fractionally as crazy as her mother.

The Enterprise temporarily got a new Captain who told her "You're an officer on this ship, I expect you to act like one"

she was a bullshit artist and affirmative action hire

MotherFUCK You! Stop Fucking lying!

She could already sense emotions on the other ship even without Skype, but Skyping with the other ship lets her pick out specifically which person is emoting in a particular way.

There was only one episode I actually liked her in, when she was disguised as a Romulan.

Here, I'll make a list of all the episodes in which Troi saves the Enterprise.

Okay, I'm done.

MotherFucker wanna talk some Shit! Bitch!

Come on put it! Come on put it MotherFucker!

>Jesus fuck did that make me hate Troi.

It was great. It was like she was PMSing 24/7 just because she didn't have her third eye anymore and had to be like everyone else.

I mean I guess it would be like if one of our senses suddenly disappeared, it's not like we'd be too rational. But she's the fucking counselor.

Handle your shit, lady.

troi is worthless versus a delusional race.

I no longer believe this conversation to be genuine. You laugh at Troi just as much as we do, and you roleplay as a Troi fanatic just for comedic value. It was fun while it lasted, my friend, but all good things must come to an end.

>Troi took command of the Enterprise after it was hit by a quantum filament that caused major damage. The accident trapped the officers in various parts of the ship. Her decision not to separate bridge and engineering and divert power to engineering saved the ship. (TNG: "Disaster")

>When Troi's mission took a turn for the worse and a fight with the Enterprise seemed imminent, Deanna seized command of the Khazara. She was able to successfully complete her mission by concealing a transporter beam inside a low-level disruptor blast. (TNG: "Face of the Enemy")

Her job wasn't to save the enterprise, her job was to make sure nobody's feelings got hurt.

that's mostly due to poor writing though

>Her decision not to separate bridge and engineering and divert power to engineering saved the ship. (TNG: "Disaster")
All credit goes to O'Brien.

Troi was just lucky that she didn't screw it up by listening to Ro.

the guy was a conman from the past pretending he was from the future. Picard doesnt take shit from snobs like them

Fuck I'd to be a show writer, knowing so many autists are watching for every plot hole or inconsistency and remembering shit from past episodes I've long since forgotten.

Shit, remember how emotional Data was in the first few episodes? Speaking wistfully and in hyperbole before they decided to make him more robotic?

He even got drunk, mopey and horny without the need of an emotion chip.

The thing that annoyed me most was how she could read Rikers emotions in the casino episode despite him being in an impenetrable building that sensors couldn't penetrate.

Its such a bullshit an invasive power. If you committed the thoughtcrime of thinking she was a cunt while on the Enterprise I bet she could make your life hell.

I don't remember this shit. I should rewatch, maybe reevaluate Troi.

(((villains))) who did literally absolutely nothing wrong

Troi got lucky, Ro made the right call

taking credit for other peoples actions is what being a redshirt/command is all about.

>Troi was just lucky that she didn't screw it up by listening to Ro.

I'd have gone with Ro

Just me and her in an escape pod, with nothing to do for days while we waited for a Federation rescue ship.

Rank isn't the only thing that's gonna get pulled over the next 48 hours

Ro's suggestion was very in-character for her. She suggested running away, and running away is all that Ro has been doing for her entire cowardly life.

Don't forget though, she was also vulnerable to psychic emanations if they were strong enough.

If you just thought about fucking her hard enough, I bet it's basically like slipping her several roofies.

She is significantly closer to Riker than she is to anyone else on the ship or in the galaxy. I mean, dude tore that pussy up three ways to Sunday before the series even started, and they were good friends afterward. She knows his emotion waves or whatever better than anyone elses.

I mean it was still kinda dumb, but at least there is an explanation for it.

Jim Carrey's stunt double couldn't be trusted bro.

Getting the saucer section away from the stardrive section when a warp core breach is imminent is the pragmatic course of action over gambling on people still being in main engineering and being able to fix it

>dude tore that pussy up
lol, this crude gentleman will never run for president

Since Troi is an empath, she would be absolutely Fucking amazing at sex would't she?

I don't think we'd know anything about that.

Dukat: Yeah, that’s the Major, with the command red. I’ve got to use some YamokYacs, just in case I start kissing her. You know I’m automatically attracted to Bajorans-- I just start kissing them. It’s like a quantum magnet. I just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a Gul, they let you do it. You can do anything.

Damar: Whatever you want, sir.

Dukat: Grab them by the ridges. You can do anything.

twice
youtube.com/watch?v=3G-ziTBAkbQ

...

He was a time traveller from the past trying to appropriate star fleet tech for his own gain in the past.

>Damar finally becomes Gul after all these Dukat stories
>Spends his entire life getting shit from a Vorta he can never kill

I'd rebel too.

>European """""rehabilitation"""""
euronews.com/2014/02/14/far-right-terrorist-breivik-threatens-hunger-strike-for-better-video-games-end-

Time for the patented Will Smith pitches to one batter.

max headroom is a total dick

Technically yes. But on the other hand it's still Troi.

But user, Anders Breivik is a self-described "far right radical". He's one of your heroes.

What do you mean by that?

Dang, that was a really decent post.

I cant make posts of that quality. I can only commend them.

You mean how he became what he was supposed to be after Roddenberry died?

I see nipple, enjoy ur'e ban.

>far right radical
>one of your heroes
What did the election tourist mean by this?

Cohagen put her in her place.

He grabs Norwegians by the pussy.

What's the one where Sisko poisons an entire planet? I see it shitposted alot but cant for the life of me remember anything of the sort.

google.com/search?q=the one where Sisko poisons an entire planet

didn't he murder the owner of the ship? fuck that guy, let him rot in a fed prison

For the uniform

> It's a Maquis Episode

Oh right, no wonder i couldn't rememeber all those episodes were utter garbage.

That's how you stop a time loop though.
If this guy was SUPPOSED to get trapped in Picard's time, that's how it works.

If Picard decided to let him go, he'd do this shit again until someone somewhere forced him to stop.

>what's the purpose
I don't know, maybe to prevent him from FUCKING UP THE TIMELINE by bringing back a bunch of super advanced technology to his era to be sold to the highest bidder.

Have you even seen the fucking episode?

No, you misunderstand, that poster is asking: What is the purpose of New Zealand?

Lord of the Rings and Flight of the Conchords

Ah, so it exists solely for the memes then.

Why didn't the Blink of an Eye aliens just tractor Voyager home to Earth?

Why didn't Brannon Braga just fly the Voyager and Enterprise concepts into Mount Doom?

You still don't have the freedom to travel as you please or do a lot of things you might want to do. Anyways it's meant to be rehabilitative not punitive.

He did.

Underrated

because he endangered future events (present) by potentially returning to the past, with future knowledge (present and current-future) with future technology (present and the current-future from perspective of Enterprise).

shit op, didn't read rest of thread, but unless OP wanted to bait people in to making yet another Trek thread

Fuck.

i bet most of the real reason he was there was he pissed off admiral daddy.

also the replicator in penal colonies has so many choices of tomato soup eating is almost impossible.

How can Geordi even see that on a viewscreen? It's a digital representation. How can he even see whats on these screens?

The guy from the past murdered a time traveler from the future, stole his time machine and then traveled thru time to steal technology that he could claim he invented in the past. No shit Picard stopped and arrested him. There was no way to send him back to the past without compromising the timeline further.

Just a very dumb move to revert a character like that. Beyond the strange vocabulary and blabbing/informational interjections he was human enough in the first season. Trying to retread that storyline was worthless. Is there any source on what you said about Rod dying then writers squabbling to reset?

A COOCHIE MOY YA

>enterprise parks up in planetary orbit
>"Captain I'm sensing despair but also an erection"

This shit happened all the time.

It's kind of like when Obi Wan senses that planet being blasted.

just cause you are blind doesn't mean you have no spacial cognition. in fact blind people sometimes end up processing echo-location in the visual cortex, so it's very likely gordi still uses the same part of the brain to process the information he receives through his visor.

The interesting part is that he can see outside of our visual spectrum, I wonder how the human brain would process that. humans only have 3 colour cones, butterflys have 5 and mantis shrimp have 17, I can only think it would be somehow analygas to that. But scientists are just beginning to understand how those species process that much colour information

How can Data have human like vision with fake eyes but they couldnt make eyes for Geordi ( pre the shit movies )

Why are you assuming that what Data sees is an approximation of human vision?

data was actually blind its why he just skips viewscreen information.

But plot demands success of the gamble. I'd love to watch a Sci-Fi where a tough call is made and half the cast is literally left for dead.

Endless arguments of the 'all or nothing' vs 'save what can be right the fuck now, good luck'.

> The half of the cast that was killed ends up surviving and comes back to get their revenge two seasons later

>"Betazoids cannot read Ferengi"
- Lwaxana Troi

Deanna was always such a disappointment

Bloody robot, why limit it to only certain spectrum's?

come one cohagen, give those titties air!

...

>spatial cognition, echolocation

Its a flat screen dude.

The location isn't the rehabilitation, Eddington mentioned counselling sessions, and when Janeway showed up to meet Paris him and the other prisoners were doing some kind of Engineering project.

Only the time frames, I'm afraid. The show certainly took a turn for the better once he passed away.

you still have x and y axis to give you info from a screen, and a z as to how far it is. Don't see what's so hard to understand

350 years in the past you mean.

wow i'm american and honestly you just justified all the amerifat shitposting.

>The thing that annoyed me most was how she could read Rikers emotions in the casino episode despite him being in an impenetrable building that sensors couldn't penetrate.
I bet as soon as they heard about it, Section 31 started abducting Betazoid tramps and studying their brains to try and make 360 noscope mind reading sensors.

How the hell does a 2D image have a Z axis? Have you never seen Geordi's vision? It's like a videogame with flat monochrome texture mapping.

A screen gives you 2 pieces of locational info...

Just need one more piece of dimensional data to get a 3d image.

Why do Star Trek Doctors have such high ranks? Bashir, on his very first assignment, was already a Lieutenant, but Nog came out of the academy as a Cadet and had to be promoted to Ensign. How did Bashir get 2 promotions without ever being on duty? How the fuck was Beverly Crusher a Commander? She never did nothing except use a tricorder and tell Nurses to fix stuff.

Normal academy is about 4 years, medical academy is probably 8 years.

In a really early episode, I don't recall which, Dr. Crusher tells Geordi she can give him implants that will do that and he refuses. He probably wasn't happy about the idea of having his eyes removed, even though they didn't work.

In this episode he talks about how this is only a small piece of the information he gets from his visor. He see's almost all the spectrum from his visor, and probably polarity too, and other things. He also states that it took him a long time to get used to it, meaning his brain had to learn how to interpret it like normal sight. How do you know how far your screen is from you? He has far more information, and while yes, he states it was confusing at first, he learned to see properly. He can see far better actually

is you problem that you don't know how humans and animals see distance?

Sounds pretty unfair treating going to school as duty worthy of promotion. No wonder they're always so full of themselves.

tough shit obrien.

Hey Trashy, why'd you burn Picard's family?

...

I really liked that Voyager episode where Red Foreman is going around in a ship that exists outside the timeline, blasting races and planets from existance in the hopes of reviving his species glorious empire, but the timeline just keeps getting more and more fucked up.

But they we find out he was only doing it all in the hopes of bringing his dead wife back to life.

Why didn't they send someone to pick up the time machine before he traveled through time?

It's not a lie, if YOU believe it

Why would would anyone want to go be a military doctor if you're on the same pay scale as everyone else?

Its the same in modern military

Hey trashy whyed u set the holodeck to pyromode

>Vash steals shit all the time
muh dick, go cuck me with Q
>human before post-scarcity happened steals
off to jail, never to be seen again

Picard is the worst

what's so bad about accelerating the advancement of technology anyway?

One of the best

The only bad thing about that episode is, the writers pitched the idea as an ENTIRE season but got turned down.

>Starfleet headquarters
>in san fransisco
wasn't that starfleet academy?

Vash stole shit in other alien jurisdictions

Headroom was stealing directly from Picard..

Oh, so Federation resources are Picards personal property?

Get off my back fascist!

It's not a screen. his visor isn't a VR helmet, it's a scanner that sends 3D information about the environment directly to his brain.

no he just doesn't have the authority to prosecute her for crimes that occurred on planets outside the federation nor with any extradition procedure outlined via a treaty with the federation.

Risa is a Federation planet

There was a scene of her fucking Riker and it seemed really bland.
The movie where Picards clone mind raped her or something.

If the series is any indication the only things she's good at is being the recipient or rape. She'll even let music boxes rape her.
