Dunno, but they've been pretty lackluster in recent times

This. Mad Men aired on AMC, fucking AMC

As oppose to what AMC? FX? CW? face it HBO is the best, all else is shit.

Fuck AMC and fuck madmen, show sucked

I'd argue FX has more good shows currently running than HBO.

AMC is overrated as fuck. They have one good show airing at any given tim

Currently yes, but in terms of overall history HBO wipes the floor with every other network

True Detective season 1 was solid and now Westworld looks very promising

netflix
starz

We're talking about overall history

History doesn't mean shit. You're only funky as your last cut.

Yeah FX is better now, and so is Netflix.
HBO has nothing but Veep, Curb and maybe Westworld as good shows. Embarassing.

Indeed

plus I think The Leftovers is pretty great

but when you compare their current stuff to back in the day when all this youtube.com/watch?v=w3X-UDNoFbs was airing maybe ignore Entourage

Sure, but they were playing a different game for a long time. They gained revenue through subscription instead of ads. They didn't have to follow S&P.

They get good amount of income based on their subscriptions

So more money to hire better actors and build better sets

leftovers

HBO will always remain supreme
>sopranos
>wire
>deadwood
>six feet under
>Rome
>band of brothers
>John Adams
>generation kill
>curb
>leftovers

No network comes close

Shit. Could have mentioned True Detective 2 and Vynil at that point.

Also true detective s1

Well no. Those shows are garbage.

Leftovers is certifiably kino.

Carnivale bruv

>reddit tomatoes
kys

Great show, forgot about that one

It gave birth to the golden era of TV in the early and mid 90s.

Also marathoning REAL SEX to fund its whole empire

Except all those highly-rated HBO shows you were just ejaculating too, also had high ratings on RT.

If anything, your desperation to be a television hipster is more reddit than simply using to review aggregator to gauge the general quality of a show.

>critically acclaimed
>good
i guess you haven't been paying attention to the number 1 hbo show these days

Game of Thrones is revolutionary in terms of visuals and spectacle on television.

>forgetting FOTC

I'M SO ANGRY I FEEL LIKE SWEARING

>its a HBO exec starts thread on chinese tapestry board to drum up viewship for his channel and try and convince they are better than other channels thread

cool story hbo.

a polished turd is still a turd

is there an HBO shill thread every day now or is it weekly?

Not really.

They haven't made anything remotely kino since Wire and Sorpanos.

This. Holy shit HBO fell off the radar completely

at least 3 times daily now.

>Forgetting that it used to be god tier

The key term there is "used to be" bro, try not to be such an autist next time.

...

Name one great show that FX has aired besides 'It's Always Sunny'.

Note: 'great', not 'good' or 'solid' or 'promising'

how these threads even get replies anymore is beyond me

Wasn't me.

lel it was always garbage popcorn entertainment

>'It's Always Sunny
lmao kys

only thing on FX worth a shit was Louie
>inb4 cuck

>Louie
>worth a shit
when you don't have taste but you insult others' taste

Louie was way more interesting than some poor mans seinfeld.

Are you for real? Justified, Louie, Fargo, Terriers, Americans, Shield..

>poor mans seinfeld
>Louis C.K. learned everything he knows, got famous off of Jerry Seinfeld.

Then why are you replying? Idiot.

Literally every one of those shows is garbage except MAYBE the Americans but even that isnt as good as some of the worst HBO shows

I don't even know what half of those are.

You're consuming dog shit.

>sopranos - purest form of kino
>wire - nigkino
>deadwood - literally "cocksucker: the show" (not kino)
>six feet under - too much gay shit (not kino)
>Rome - who?
>band of brothers - WW2kino
>John Adams - lolwut
>generation kill - no matter how much /k/ jerks off to this show it was crap
>curb - arrested development-tier suck
>leftovers - who?

>Justified
>garbage
Is it even possible being this much of a faggot?
>never heard of them but they're SHIT!
Come on, how much HBO is paying you?

And yet his show is nothing like Seinfeld you fucking idiot

But Arrested Development (minus season four) is fucking great.

who?

He Was A Consul Of Rome!

this is your brain on Cred Forums

>his show is nothing like Seinfeld

This is how they con morons like you into watching the same shit over and over and over again. Yeah, it's single camera and it's about a fat, aging loser instead of an amiable, funny Jew. The scripts of both shows rely on the same exact fucking tropes.

It's easy to make good shit when you're powered by a subscription base.

I'm more impressed by AMC overall. The fact that they put out a few really good shows is amazing for just a simple cable network.

Netflix is staring to throw them out there as well but that's to be expected by this point considering the money they pull in.

Such terrible arguments, go back to watching shitty Netflix shows

>The Pacific
ehhhhhhh

Now this is the pretentious "everything you like sucks" commentary that I come to Cred Forums for.

Brava

>Boardwalk Empire

I got sick of it pretty quick. Maybe it was just me but didn't really enjoy it much after the first season or so.

yeah, I was torn whether to include this in the best- or second-tier.

Justified is plieb tier mein Herr. It's just a show for the fans of SoA who sold their Harley's to pay for diapers.

leftovers isn't too bad but not good enough for hbo since s3 is the last for it.

boardwalk was good but they shot themselves in the foot with separate city plots. it started to feel like two different shows when one week was in chicago and next week it was atlantic city.

carnivale was so sad because it was so far ahead of its time.

end of blog post.

ads are so annoying that people will pay to be free of them. also less resurrections on what you can have in your shows

>Netflix
They don't have even 1 well written show. The whole thing is to let people see it so fast they won't think too much about it
>FX
What do you watch on it? tyrant and strain?

>Louie
you really watch the breeding grounds show?

Well, Eastbound and Entourage are the only good comedies to come out since Curb and they're hilarious. Those should be Best.

>not counting GAME OF THRONES

>They don't have even 1 well written show
MUH STAMMER THANS

thats worse than hemlock grove

No censorship or TV safe guidelines to cater to advertising/ratings.
Credited show runners with strong visions and wrote most of the episodes/influenced them.

Because it's Walking Dead tier plebshit

Have you ever actually seen an episode of Louie? It's had its issues, but absolutely none of them have anything to do with his politics.

No, they just have some of the biggest budget dramas. They're spending like $100 million a season on Westworld AND Game of Thrones.

But ALL the networks are getting into the drama game now. It's so refreshing, I thought TV was going to bottom out with wall-to-wall reality shows.

HBO still has trash like Girls and god knows what else.

You'll note that no one wants to acknowledge their hand in True Blood.

>le GoT is popular therefore it is shit

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Oh yeah I forgot that was HBO. For some reason it makes me think of Showtime.

>I can't fathom why someone doesn't like the things I do so they're only pretending
This kind of thinking is an actual symptom of real life autism.

I loved true blood, at least he t first half of it

It makes you think of Showtime because it relied a lot on the hacky premium cable crutch of relying on sex and blood to keep the audience interested in a mediocre to shit-tier series, which Showtime does far more often than the other premium cable networks.

He is pointing out that GOT is getting crazy views so when making a list you should not drag in your personal preference

It's objectively shit m8

i think a lot of people did.

when they started the fairy shit that really tested the loyalty of man of the fans, and it seemd like a lot of walked away from it.

Saying it's good because it's popular is just as retarded as saying it's bad because it's popular. NCIS is the highest rated show on television (or at least was last year, idk). Let that sink in.
Yeah actually the first part of True Blood wasn't awful, but it turned into irredeemable trash incredibly fast.

Yeah it was fine when it was just vampires and shape-shifters. WAY too much horseshit after that.

it was also played out. in season 3 when they had a mass orgy with possessed people, it was shocking but eventually everyone seem to have fucked everything and everyone while breaking most of the limits. it also tried to stay topical and constantly failed(like with whole towns being killed or with HIV parallels) they even had Eric fucking his step sister because game of thrones made it popular (lots of sister fucking that year)

>Saying it's good because it's popular is just as retarded as saying it's bad because it's popular. NCIS is the highest rated show on television (or at least was last year, idk). Let that sink in.
We are not measuring goodness of shows, we are measuring why channels are doing well so big name shows are the key and sometimes they turn out to also be good shows.

>anybody who isn't an enlightened, counter-culture genius like me has "real life autism"

Zzzzzzzzzzzz.....................

They gave me The Leftovers S2, they redeemed themselves for the decade.

Except that's not what the guy we were replying to was ranking. It was broken down into patrician, good, intentionally omitted, and not watched.
It's okay, they have treatments and medications for people like you. Your lack of empathy and inability to understand where other people are coming from can be worked through with your mommy and a behavioral psychologist. :^)

>projecting a bunch of armchair-psychologist diagnoses because you can't fathom someone not condemning a show because normal people enjoy it

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Will Westworld go to shit like True Blood?

>Generation Kill - crap

Yeah, nah. It is great and they kept it nice and short and tight so it didn't die a slow shitty death like so many shows. Not liking it makes you a wine sipping commie dick suck.

Sincerely,

Your Pal Ray.

>automatically assuming he doesn't like it because it's popular because he intentionally omitted it
Right, The Sopranos and Band of Brothers were such sleeper hits. How does it feel to be retarded and lash out because someone doesn't like your plebshit fantasy porn? :^)

>Vinyl

Baby boomer bait riddled with cliches

>The Brink

Evil facts about republican administrations: the show. It gets really old VERY quickly and doesn't even try to be non-biased.

>plebshit

There's that word again! Fedora wearing fuck who takes pride in his "taste in television." So funny.

>pride
Says who? You sound insecure.

The first 3 seasons of True Blood are campy-kino m8.
