The Phantom Menace. So I can stop obsessing over how bad the prequels are.

Why erase the best one instead of the third one?

Because I can only erase one and if I erase that one it would be illogical for the other two to exist.

Star Wars 1977

Big budget fantasy and continuous sequels irreparably destroyed cinema

2001 space odyssey. There are plenty of shit movies, but it takes the overrated cake

The Matrix

Good answer. It started the "smug cinema" movement.

The Godfather

No more movies and shows glorifying gangsters

The prequels are very far from bad, my friend.
Stop deluding yourself.

youtube.com/watch?v=RhvVog_3v4U

You're right. They're even further down the shit spectrum.

>The prequels are very far from bad, my friend.
>Stop deluding yourself.
This should be quoted in the dictionary as an example of delusion.

>Oh noes muh nostalgia!!!
Stick to video games, kiddos

What nostalgia? I grew up with the prequels.

>he's proud of being older and still on Cred Forums

wew

I have a gun you can use. Quick and painless.

As did I. I grew out of my Plinkett phase though. It was painful, but it was worth it.

Why play a video game when I can watch the prequels? It's like a 9 hour long PS1 cutscene.

Also, wouldn't older posters be more inclined to feel nostalgic about the OT and shit on the prequels? Your """argument""" is falling all over itself.

Whichever movie started this fucking capeshit extravaganza

He's fucking right though. They're bad movies. Not only that but it's like they're prequels to an alternate version of the original trilogy that never existed. They don't make sense.

Iron Man I think

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Men_(film)

Only retards like anti-art shit like Star Wars. Even bigger retards think they're somehow superior for liking older Star Wars when it's literally the same pile of shit. Maybe someday by some slim miracle you'll stop be embryos but that's looking really bleak at the moment.

I don't like Star Wars. That's my fucking point.

If you eliminate all his criticisms that either are jokes, nitpicking, or just wrong, that leaves about 70% to 90% of what he said being valid.

>anti-art
If I wanted every movie to be on the level of an artistic masterpiece, I'd get to watch maybe two or three movies every decade.

>anti-art
lmao

The OT SW was about a group of talented people from different departments trying their hardest to make something unique and special.
Art is not just your precious narrative, art is in the craft, production and costume design, the visuals, Ben Burtt's revolutionary sound design etc

Google what is art please

This is why we don't have a /film/ board...

You regressive embryos could at least stick with your own people on or at least .

*10% to 15%

Mike's a dumb pleb who eats up crap like Jurassic World.
Rethink your opinion of his analytical skills.

Laffin at you hard my dear friend.

Firing up all the defensive mechanisms I see.
I will say again, art is not just a complex narrative. Art is in the framing and composition, blocking, acting nuances, set design, use of sound everything.

You would be quite an ignorant single minded cunt if you think "art" in movies is only a focus in a philosophical deep storyline.
I bet that you even think that symbolism, the lowest ranking art tool of them all, is a sign of great "art". Laffin hard friendo

>this movie is older than people posting on this website

>film is a narrative medium
You're so ignorant on film it's not even funny. Explains why you cream your pubescent pants at the thought of laser swords.

>the Godfather
>glorifying gangsters

Film is a visual medium.
That's why the prequels are so good.

Movies are a VISUAL medium you degenerate cunt.

Books are a narrative focused medium.
And if you want to make a movie you take/make a narrative and figure out how to tell that narrative visually, with as less text/exposition as possible.

You can make a great movie with a not so good script (Fury Road, Sicario, The Revenant) but you can't make a good movie if the only positive filmmaking element is the script (The Man from Earth).
That's because the execution of the visual/audio information represented is more important than the text on paper when making a movie.

You can make a great or complete shit movie with the same script but different director and the whole technical team.
Still laffin at ya m8

Finally someone with some sense. OT-or-bust fags are the worst.

>The Revenant
>bad script

>Oh noes!!! There's not enough dialogue or lazer swordzzz!!!
Just stop embarrassing yourself. You're pathetic.

samefag prequelscum. fuck off

>Fury Road
>great
>The Man from Earth
>not good

plebeian opinion discarded

The Man from Earth is the ultimate pleb detector.

It's for people like you who feel "smart" after watching it without realising how fucking atrocious it is.
It's like a bad cheesy B movie from the 90s. The only redeeming factor is the intriguing backstory, literally every other film element is utter dogshit.

From the mexican telenovela like acting, generic stock soundtrack, no character development, no actual dialogue just a long exposition Q&A throughout, constant boring back to back camerawork, no use of the one room, no creative lighting, a side love story pulled out of the ass, most cliche character traits, literally everything. I had to look up twice that it actually was from 2007, not early 90s.
This shit shouldn't even be a movie, it should be a book or a play. Or given to some other director because Richard Schenkman doesn't even know what a director is.
Just look at any other movie in his profile, everything is a meme (pic related)

And don't tell me they had no budget, 200 000$ is not small budget for this kind of movie. There are far superior movies with half the budget of that.

This movie has no artistic value whatsoever. It is just an excuse to make money from the script.
You will never see a renowned director admire this movie because there is nothing to admire except the concept.

Just try to compare this movie to let's say 12 Angry Men, both set in one room. The difference is almost laughable.

Get fucked you defenseless pleb.

dragonball evolution

>Oh noes!!!
>lazer swordzzz!!!
>xDD!!!1

I am clearly dealing with an underage sub intelligent millenial here so I won't even bother anymore.
Not laughing at you anymore, now I just feel bad for you really.

Easy one... the new Ghostbusters.
Downloaded it, watched till about 20 minutes from the end... turned it off.
It's really that bad... I've only ever turned off 2 films before the end... that and Dumb And Dumber Too.

I'm literally quoting you so congrats on calling yourself "an underage sub intelligent millenial(sic)". It's the first thing you got right all day.

Not that user but I can't see where did he say the things that you "literally" quoted.

Also "literally" is also an overused word by the new generation.

Congrats, your illiterate.

Slumdog Millionaire

Since 2008 oscar-bait has gone into maximum over drive and those stupid little "deep" movies need to return to a niche category at best

Iron man. Far less capeshit and they're actual movies

Fuckin rekt lmao

Fucking this. You erase Godfather, I'll erase Goodfellas.

Hunger Games

Do I need a reason?

Whichever movie allows me to kill off shaky cam in action films. Not handheld, fucking shaking the camera around like a fucking retard.

this

That was the beginning of the end for Hollywood

Fellowship of the Ring because I want everyone to suffer

The Nightmare Before Christmas, it's self explanatory but if you need to be spoonfed a reason:

youtube.com/watch?v=DxIsKgsj4zM

this is the objectively right answer

Star Wars was the downfall of film making

Good choice. The only pleasant thing to come from that whole mess of dark children's bullshit was Coraline.

that new spongebob movie

tdkr to erase baneposting from existince

But user then we wouldn't have a high production level Brazzers porno just for us

the new ghost busters. just because.

Leave us.

There's a difference between 'not a masterpiece' and 'inimical to the survival of culture'.

Jaws. No Jaws release schedule, no 'blockbuster' genre. No 'blockbuster' genre, no Star Wars, no infantilization of the West, no Gulf War, no ISIS, no Hillary Clinton campaign.

Titanic.

This takes away Cameron's pull so Avatar isn't made. He can work solely on action films.

This forces Leo to stay in smaller productions and actually work on his craft, he gets an Oscar sooner.

Kate will be naked in other films, she is a true thespian, nothing lost.

That fucking song will not be used in every recital, every event or be blasted on the radio nonstop for the following two years.

Yeah.

Because movies weren't doing that before The Godfather.

That was going to happen regardless of Jaws. There's nothing about Jaws specifically that made it into the first really big movie. It was about marketing and investment. I'm pretty sure Jaws was kind of an accident in that respect but they figured out that formula after Jaws. They started trying putting a lot of time and money into the psychology of film making and the audiences. Then they became more and more confident with investing millions into a single project.

They weren't. The Godfather was the first Mafia-approved Mafia movie.

Taken 2
Something about its muddy,shitty,incomprehensible editing
Its spoiling of a really fun premise
Its spoiling of liam neeson
And its shitty fucking shit director (megaton, srs) who keeps getting work

If i could go back in time and prevent the black plague, the holocaust, the rape of nanking, all the murders in every soviet country, and cure cancer/aids/als in one swoop
Or
Prevent taken 2 from ever happening

Id pick the latter without a second thought

>if you could erase one movie from history...
>Taken fucking 2

O im laffin

Yeah, because the Mafia approved of it, THEN interest was born.

Now tell me about Pacino's Scarface like its the original.

Dude, gangster movies are older than cowboy flicks.

Nothing has ever made me as mad as taken 2 m8

Interest has nothing to do with anything, the film's screenplay was literally okayed by the Mafia.

Gangster movies always took a strong stance against the gangster before The Godfather. They allowed the audience some vicarious thrills, perhaps, but they always made it perfectly clear that they were ultimately not pro-gangster statements. The Godfather and Part II both portray any anti-Mafia character as being worse than the Mafia - the structure of their scenes is ludicrously and identically mechanical, the guy always makes some outraged speech, then immediately it's revealed that he's a bigger crook than them. This kind of lying in aid of the glamorization of thugs and murderers was new, and it did do damage.

James Cagney was the shit and people idolized him as a Gangster. The fact that they put some message at the end was a cop out to protect themselves from accusations of corrupting the youth. Remember many of these were made with the memories of the real ones still fresh, and the real ones were named in papers as public enemies, but they were idolized, the movies were thought of as cool, not truly a fable about the perils of crime. There was a lot of propaganda about the virtues of the gmen and shit, but people still glorified gangsters and this was the draw.

The Godfather just paints them as people too, no glorification, and the anti-mafia characters were one: Kate. Everyone else was just hypocritical except for the one politician leading the hearing in Part two, who was just there, not characterized as anything but lawful.

shut the fuck up faggot

Breathless

Don't act like you don't know why

Anyone who dosen't say Iron Man is dumb. And I liked Iron Man.

...

Shared universe films would've happened sooner or later, and capes are the faces of that sort of thing.

I'd erase The Blue Bunny.

Why are you confirming that I'm correct but pretending to argue with me? Those 'cop out' endings were an acknowledgement of moral responsibility, however the people making the pictures felt about adding them - that they added them whether they wanted to or not, BEFORE the Production Code, is the whole point. They acknowledged their ethical duty, which finally has nothing to do with desire.

The Godfather idealizes and idolizes them. The statement is made, explicitly and repeatedly, that only the deeply corrupt oppose them.

>Shared universe films would've happened sooner or later

Films set in the same fictional world have been made for over a century. This particular phenomenon, which is a menace, and the graveyard of American cinema, would not have happened otherwise.
