What is up with Britain's obsession with panel shows?
What is up with Britain's obsession with panel shows?
We can't get enough of fucking zingers
Brits think tearing people down and collectively wallowing in their humiliation is the height of good sport.
>It's a Jo Brand episode of any panel show
>This is every fucking episode because she's the token woman
Cheaper and easier to make than scripted sitcoms
Its seems Katherine Ryan has taken over that role and dont care because noone is worse than Jo Brand
The only time this show is worthwhile is when Mortimer is on
>I am fat
>I don't like my husband
>Also I am fat
Who seriously watches her?
Cheap to make so the executives can have bigger salaries with all that TV Licence money you're giving them
Because Churchill.
This is the future """Great""" Britain chose.
the BBC literally has panel show diversity quotas and since women are simply not funny, she's the best they can get.
They're fuckin' great spontaneous comedy
Simple format that doesn't take much work.
Have I got news for you and QI are GOAT though.
The ones the BBC don't make too political are actually kinda good. Dave makes quite a few good ones, Taskmaster is hilarious
>Diversity policy
>Mandatory vagina
I just want David Mitchell being pedantic lads
They're cheap to make.
Jesus Christ that's fucked up. How did the manliest, proudest nation on Earth come to disrespect and dishonour their own heritage so much?
So, who makes you want to turn off a panel show?
>Russell Howard
>Sarah Millican
>Sara Pascoe
>Jo Brand
>Michael Mcintyre
>Milton Jones
Yeah she refused to do MtW because the men were in the spotlight, even though it's because they were the draws
>That one super left libtard muslim
>That girl with CP
>That puppet girl
>Most women
Al Murray
The BBC needs to keep its Labour-belt comedians in pocket so they might write a show from them at some point instead of just going to channel 4.
>Puppet Girl
Good god yes, why the fuck?
>it's an episode without Bob Mortimer
INTO THE TRASH IT GOES
Ian Hislop always gets me.
what about panel shows that aren't BBC
Richard Ayoade is GOAT
WILTY is great, so I don't mind the obsession.
What's wrong with Milton Jones?
Probably the same phenomenon that's responsible for all the american talk shows.
they are boring people
They're cheap as fuck to make
>They're cheap
>We've got gr8 bantz
That's literally it.
>How did the manliest, proudest nation on Earth
This thread isn't about the US
His FUCKING. HAIR.
That said hes not worse than
>CNTRL+F
>No Jack Whitehall
Makes irrelevant jokes that aren't even funny.
not funny
I've always seen them as the equivelent of our morning and late-night talk shows. Would I be correct in this assessment?
>rude word!
kek
>puppet girl
every time, fucking hell
lowest form of humour
Yeah, most of them are just shows that tell stupid people what political beliefs they should have.
British comedians are pretty quick on their feet with the bants, so panel shows work well. They're also better when it comes to being heckled.
American comics get red in the face and scream as soon as an audience member calls them fat
Us Brits are obsessed with banter, and it's basically comedians banter distilled. Used to watch them religiously as a young teenager but haven't since. Dont slag them off likes some people who think they're above it.
It's so spot on, you could replace the actual Ian on HIGNFY with him and no one would notice.
Ive stopped watching them.
the UK is basically
>Quips : Islands Edition
there are like 3 funny conservatives, sorry that this triggers you
I can't believe amstell died of aids from being a gay
>Liberals are funny
Fuck off Russel Brand / Eddie Izzard
>projecting THIS much
weeeeeeeeeeew
This is an elf
Nowadays Jo is one of the more tolerable female comics. That's how far we've come.
I really dislike Sara Pascoe.
They're cheap to make.
British television is fucking kino when they spend some money though.
>say something not funny
>turn and stare at the audience until you get a few pity laughs
That explains the English national team
god I hate this freakish tooth goblin
Do any of you find Jon Richardson funny?
I can't stand him.
I'm almost entirely convinced that they're there solely to keep British comedians employed.
For what reason, I'm not sure.
There's no Hollywood in Britain, and panel games are popular and cheap. It makes sense.
The best panel games are on the radio, though.
Amstell deconstructing Fieldings entire career with one line was GOAT
does QI count as a panel show
>not a single episode of anything where I don't feel burning hate for at least one of the panelists
why
FUN FACT: 1 in every 161,500 Icelanders has scored on England.
Why wouldn't it?
The joke he did about corn is funny though
>that interview
pretty funny, seems kind of genuine and not a persona too
>manliest
For all its achievements, the British Empire has never once been "manly."
