What's your actual favourite movie? Not the one you say you like to look patrician, the movie you enjoy the most
This is an anonymous website, don't say some Bergman movie because no one likes them unironically

Fuck off cuck.
same brov
That's some pretty good taste you got there user.
My favorite is how to train your dragon 2. I still watch that movie every once in a while.
Thunderheart
The Master, in all honesty. I watch it at least 4 times a year and enjoy it every single time.
Anchorman.
...
Jaws. Why would I try to look "patrician" on a board that primarily discusses Star Wars and comic book movies?
Have you guys ever trimmed? Perfect job for movie lovers.
That being said, I like to trim to Chicago, Disney movies (the good ones) and the Godfather 1 and 2. Most productive during the godfather, the drama gets me going.
Post more puppies.
My most rewatchable is zoolander and the most emotionally fullfilling movie for me is gladiator
Inglourious Basterds, Sunshine and some Marvel movies.
Not the most impressive ones, but the ones that I can rewatch a lot and they always relax me.
Zoolander and School of Rock... and Mediterraneo when I am sad...
Zoolander
>don't say some Bergman movie because no one likes them unironically
But I actually love The Seventh Seal.
Anyway, Monty Python and the Holy Grail is my favorite.
This
>patrician: city of god
>actual: predator
I like golden retrievers
Empire Strikes Back. I don't have one I say to look patrician, it's fucking Empire.
In Bruges
It depends on the criteria
>regarding technical elements and impact
2001
>watchability and overall entertainment value
The Godfather
>most interesting art film
Sweet Movie
Shawshank Redemption
Probably Battle Royale or Ghost in the Shell
Refn's Bronson.
Just a fun to watch, well put together movie with a great soundtrack and performances
Shame Nicholas can't get it right all the time like he did with this one
Probably Repo Man
The Road Warrior
One of the first movies I saw on VHS as a kid and was one of those movies that just clicked with me, never tire of that film.
When it got a blu ray release it was like watching it again for the first time, you could see all sorts of details that were just a blurred mess on the VHS.
When Fury Road came out, the cinema by me did a double screening of Mad Max and Road Warrior together so I dragged a mate along who'd never seen the first movie, and finally got to see Road Warrior on the big screen which was great stuff.
Speed Racer
That's a great movie, I wish I owned it.
Freddy got Fingered.
Highlander
Synecdoche, NY
Probably Kin-Dza-Dza. This movie is incredibly funny and inventive, I think I saw it at least three times in a week and was choking of laughter everytime. Seriously it's an excellent comedy.
Immortal (2004)
There is no other movie like it.
The primitive cgi style makes it more unique. Love the story.
...
still watch it a few times a year
I think my most watched movie is probably Inside Llewyn Davis. It doesn't hurt that I love folk music.
This. Every time I get super depressed I watch Place Beyond the Pines, LA Confidential and pic related.
Uncommon to see Russian movies posted here.
Will check out.
forest gump probably. seen it like 15 times
Motherfucking Disneys Tarzan. I don't give a fuck how childish I may seem, that movie just makes me feel all kinds of emotions.
Kagemusha.
Casino
OP here
Jaws is one of my favourite 5 films too
Here
I have plenty favorite movies, I try not to use labels like "the most" and etc.
But, for example, hypothetically, in some new social group I probably wouldn't say that one of my favorite movies is Predator, Terminator, or Terminator 2.
plenty of*
movies are*
I'm sorry
Kingpin
So comfy
Top Gun
I love trash cinema, Death Race 2000 is one of my favourites.
...
The Terminal
Holy shit this movie is a gem, thanks for reminding me
Strange Days
It's quite underground though, doubt you've heard about it.
...
...
Honestly?
I can watch repeat viewings of Commando or Terminator 2. It never gets old.
Sunshine, mah nigga.
It's hard for me to say my absolute favorite movie, ID have to actually sit down and try rating them. Sunshine is a contender though.
There's another contender for mine: Ghost in the Shell.
The problem is I need my collection in front of me and I'm at work.
Either:
The Nice Guys
Argo
Hell or High Water.
...
starship troopers
wish i lived in the federation
Love Exposure
Leon. Oldman is the perfect villain.
...
I love Down by Law, I think it's the only really great film Jarmusch made
...
Ordeboiru (2003)
Kelly's Heroes. I watched it endlessly as a kid. My mother had to convince me that VHS had a cool-down time because I'd always want to rewind it and play again as soon as it was over. Still love it today.
rush hour 2
Probably still got that freshly watched movie buzz going for it but I'd have to say Whiplash.
If the glow wears off then Back to the Future.
>posts movie no one's heard of
Stop trying to be le foreign underground patrician
Have you seen Ghost Dog and Only Lovers Left Alive? I'll admit stuff like Stranger Than Paradise and Mystery Train aren't that great but I am a fan of his style and I like them regardless
Oh my god, with the old landlord woman miming cunnilingus and the amish? I love this movie, haven't thought about it in years!
Nah, Dead Man and Only Lovers left Alive were awesome too. Bit pretentious but I liked them anyway. Watching Down By Law right now and it's quite fun.
Goodfellas
>the old landlord woman miming cunnilingus
Truly nightmarish
Finally someone i find someone who likes this movie as much as me
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me
that movie sucks, user. The dirty dozen is ten times better
Star Wars ANH
or Looper
I've probably watched Clerks 2 more than any movie. I'm never not in the mood to watch it. I've seen it 100+ times I'm not even kidding.
My favorite movie of all time.
What a fucking fag.
Mulholland Drive or Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me
This so much
Yep.
I remember watching it for the first time. I must have been in 7th grade, found the VHS in my dad's collection knowing nothing about.
I watched it with my brothers and cousin. We quickly realized that our parents cannot know about this.
>My mom was kinda strict
UHF, at least is the one I've seen the most number of times by far. Maybe Brazil
I've never watched it, but I'll check it out, thanks! Kelly's Heroes has a sentimental value to me. It brings me back to childhood, playing with all my plastic soldiers, acting out scenes from the movie. For me, it's a very comfy movie, that's why it will always be a favourite of mine.
they're both pleb as fuck
UHF is amazing. I watched it again about a month so because I hadn't watched it in forever. So fucking good.
fuck off Kevin
probably Brother but in terms of watching and rewatching a film without getting tired of it: Saving Private Ryan, The Fifth Element, Pulp Fiction
Tenacious d
>don't say some Bergman movie because no one likes them unironically
kys
>no one unironically likes Bergman movies
I do
But my favorite movie is probably being John malkovich
Predator is fantastic you asshole
The Crow
Watch it once in a year. Got me even an eric draven statue from hot toys. And i'm not even a collector
I used to get up every Saturday morning and watch Samurai Saturday's on IFC with my Dad. This was my favorite.
The movies I make people watch with me a zillion times are Jaws and the Abyss and Paper Moon. The abyss is seriously flawed but Jaws and Paper moon are the perfect movies to me. I also like Mullholland drive but I have to be in the mood to watch it. Not a pedo btw.
Strosek too, not even because they're great I'm just obsessed with Bruno S.
Oh fuck I forgot about Brazil. Love that movie as well
Brick
Great actors, great style, great aesthetic.
> My honest non partrician answer
the weakest movie from the OT? I used to be like you but then I turned 20
The Prestige
Freddy Got Fingered
Establishment narrative? This is literally about how we are overly complacent with the status quo, and this mindset is put in place by the "establishment".
kek
a) You are right, Curtis is to Plinkett as Newsnight is to Kermode - maybe
b) I think a lot of his beef with things is how people don't revolt proper, they just bitch about shit online (or go into detroit to "experience it").
Predator
I wish I was joking
I say Stalker... but I mean Mean Girls.
I have seen meangirls more than 3 times for every 2 years since its release. I introduce girls younger than me to it. I pause it to explain things about it. I play it silently in the background at parties I host. I roleplay it in the bedroom. I roleplay it with myself in the shower. I have identified the three things wrong with it and I apologise for them when I watch the film with people.
Honestly if I did this for a decent film I would seem so cool.
Don't care how pleb I am, I always have loved this movie.
ya blew it
Close Encounters of the Third Kind tbqh
Cut off your dick
i have failed at a lot of things, but jeez, this was a big one.
Just curious, are you saying KoH is great or you legitimately appreciate FGF?
The Golden Compass ;_;
Honestly this and I'm not proud to admit it
Or Goodfellas
I don't have a favorite movie, but if I had it would have been T2.
>I have identified the three things wrong with it and I apologise for them when I watch the film with people.
Mind expanding on that? Also, why not just say mean girls, everyone loves that movie.
...
There are three things that are wrong with it:
1) the noise Janis Ian makes when she jumps backwards into the crowd of forgiveness
2) When the guy says "take your top off"
3) The closing shot
Trainspotting
Forrest Gump
Robocop
Sling Blade
>when the guy says "take your top off"
That's a good laugh tho
id say its Warrior (the one with hardy).
It either Rocky 1 and 2 (i know they are two separate movie, but i always watch them on the same day) or Scott pilgrim, but since aparentlly reddit likes it everyone on here hates it
Groundhog day
>then I turned 20
and grew alot of edges
Millennium Actress
The Fellowship
Return
Two Towers
In that order.
Still watch the trilogy once a year, and I have since it came out.
Hesher and Napoleon Dynamite are also two of my absolute favorite movies.
...
Yes but it's just jarringly poorly delivered.
Grew up watching.
It made me terrified of flying but I still dream about being stranded on an island to this day.
This is the right answer.
john carpenter's the thing
John Carpenter's The Thing. The visuals and the story always keep me interested in it.
Gattaca.
I could watch it a million times. So comfy.
Suck each others dicks
Drive
This one
Casino Royale
My dad showed me this as a kid. It's amazing and I still love it, but the argument it makes is kind of retarded.
blade runner, every time i watch that movie it makes me feel like a kid.
>tfw sad 21 y/o with borderline personality disorder
Hackers
I'm growing tired of the modern capeshit machine, but Spider-Man 2 is magnificent now and forever.
You are now hearing those opening strings over the Columbia logo.
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.
SHUT IT DOWN! FOREVER!
I should watch this one again. I saw it for the first time about a year ago knowing nothing about it going in, really loved it.
I tell people Alien
but it's really Hackers
What's with the 2s? Spiderman, X men, blade, they're all amazing. I'm glad spiderman 3 seems to be getting the respect it deserves now as well.
I say Freddy got fingered, but it's really the hustler.
Casino is just a brilliant film for me
I say Captain America Civil War, but really it's Batman V Superman.
I say Evil Dead 2 but really it's Spiderman 3.
hello baby dog
same for me my friend, it just never gets old
my fucking nigga
faggot
I unironically felt more while watching Wild Strawberries than in any other film I've ever seen, so that was my favorite experience watching a movie
But for rewatching, I'd say Big Lebowski
Adding on, these are also contenders for favorite movies to rewatch
Sorry senpai, Terminator 2 is James Cameron's worst movie
Labyrinth
Pretty bummed they're remaking it
One of them, easily.
You have inspired me to make trash
youtube.com
Legally Blonde
It just makes me happy, fuck you
ROCKY
>tfw no favorite movie
Is it just me? There are some excellent movies that I've watched twice because I knew there were things you would appreciate more on a second viewing, but I can't really think of some "favorite" movie I could watch again and again and again. I would rather watch something new.
No, it's not just you. i don't have a favourite either. I've watched some things lots of times and would watch them again but a favourite something is what have when you're 5.
Eternal Sunshine honestly, sorry if that makes me tumblr

I don't know. It's hard for me to pinpoint exactly one that I love over all the others.
I liked very highly
The Social Network
Tron Legacy
Leon the Professional
Hackers
Starship Troopers
Fantastic Mr. Fox
Beowulf
I guess of all those, though, i would probably place The Social Network and Hackers above the rest.
It's a Wonderful Life
Extremely re-watchable, there have been nights I watch it on loop and it works on me every time.
Its always hard to commit to a favorite movie for me so for those of you who can I dont know how you do it.
Right now I guess my favorite is Thief of Baghdad. Fun as fuck, classic old timey acting, and innovative cheesy special effects all accompanying a timeless story.
Its just a fun movie that though its aged, it never gets old.
no need to be ashamed m8. Its Reese Witherspoon in her prime. That would make anyone happy.

I've seen The Big Lebowski like 15 times.
I tell my friends (who are complete normies) that my favorite is Amadeus. While i really do enjoy that film, in reality my favorite is Drive.
Fuck you Cred Forums for turning on it.
Constantine
Are you trying to be humouristic
ayyyy
*mine too*
cloverfield or coraline
>Napoleon Dynamite
My nigger
>Him flipping off Peter extraordinaire
still love it
I accidentally watched Caroline three times in the movie theater, and 11 times in a row on netflix
Patrician Answer is Clockwork Orange
emotionally fulfilling: Walter Mitty or Her
Favorite answer: what immediately comes to mind is either Naked Gun or maybe Pacific Rim
I feel the same way too, but maybe another step further. I feel like anything I watch is kind of claimed by however I heard of it (unless it's the rare occasion I stumble across it entirely myself) making it even harder to feel like it has some kind of role within who I am and my likes and interests . For example, I love the movie The Thing, and have seen it probably ten times as much as the person who told me about it, yet for some reason anytime I think about the thing I immediately think of him like "oh the thing, that movie he loves" and never see it a an extension of myself. Sorry if that doesn't make much sense I'm really tired
Interstellar
Either Back to the Future or Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
Dredd is amazing. Not my favourite movie ever, but I question your taste if you really think that's an unreasonable favourite movie
Mr Nobody.
Fifth Element with Bruce Willis. Probably one of the most underrated and forgotten action sci fi films.
I also really like Waterworld which is another gem that got thrown in the turd pile by the critics.
Badlands
The Princess Bride
I unironically think my favourite movie of all time is "there will be blood"... There's so much to that movie it's easy to watch multiple times.
But I know we aren't looking for kino, here, so the movie I've watched THE MOST TIMES is Aqua teen hunger force colon movie film for theatres... Don't know if I'd say it's my favourite movie, but it's a hilarious casual watch for those who like alt. humor.
Mine too tbqh familglioso
Mulan is probably in my top ten tbqh
Fuck you on about lol.
>underrated
71% on RT.
3/4 from Ebert.
>forgotten
7.7 on IMDb with nearly 350,000 votes.
Won the César for best director, best cinematography and best production design. Has a AAA cast. Besson is one of France's biggest directors and the film mads a fair number of best sci-fi lists.
It's a very good film and one of my favourites but it's in no way underrated.
Princess Bride and not even close
Rushmore and Fantastic Mr. Fox.
>Pacific Rim
this to be desu farm-pie
Was Dredd released by itself on Blu ray? The only copies I find are bundled with another movie I could not care for.
Winter Light is probably my favorite Bergman and I'd rewatch it more other than the fact that it's really not a fun movie.
Maybe when I get the flu, I'll feel in the mood.
Escape From New York
Happy Gilmore.
I used to love The Goonies as a kid so I guess that's way up there.
I also have to point out that I've watched Superbad like 20 times
Good answer.
Nostalgia-wise, the old Transformers movie, without? Probably Mulholland Drive or Eraserhead?
Either Seven Samurai or Pulp Fiction
Close second would be the Breakfast Club or Citizen Kane (Yes I ACTUALLY LIKE IT)
The assassination of Jesse James by that coward robert ford
Is tied with
Dark city
But I just finished Street Trash and I liked it. Its a gross flick from 1986 but its not just a gross flick its also a drama, a comedy and an anti-drinking PSA
wasted
My nigga. The Breakfast Club never gets old
Fuck off dipshit, you haven't seen it obiously...
TMNT 1990
I never get tired of it.
There will be blood
I really really like that movie, user. I picked it up thinking it was a documentary from the History channel, only to see Brad Pitt on the cover.
I put it on, and it was truly a pleasant watch.
i really really love the soundtrack
>all this cool movies I still haven't seen
The Prince of Egypt
Don't know why, it just really speaks to me
Amelie, and fuck anyone that doesn't approve or agree. I would say suck my fucking cock as emphasis, but I doubt that would be in good taste, so I won't say it.
The Fifth Element.
O Brother Where Art Thou
No Country for Old Men
Also, any Zatoichi film with Katsu in it. Any Zatoichi movie made with someone other than Katsu is automatically bad and is like smearing shit on a Van Gogh. I don't care for your opinions of Takeshis Zatoichi, or the one with the female. I really do not care.
My favorite movie is Punch Drunk Love, or The Rover.
Others I really like are Hana-bi, Sonatine, The Good/Bad/Ugly, No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood, The Thing, Assassination of Jesse James, and Alien.
Home Alone 2
It used to be the Punisher but then Kick-Ass took it's place. Then Suicide Squad came out this year and it's currently my favorite. I seen it like 5+ times and it's not even out on digital til next month.
i love nigga turtles
...
Apocalypto desu
No one cares about Zatoichi anyways so I think you're in the clear.
Same here. I actually do love Suicide Squad.
WAY BETTER than bland mediocre BvS

The Insider, Michael Mann
It's hard to say only one favorite movie, since everything is relative, but I would say my favorite is Taken 1.
either the fellowship
or prisoner of azkaban
but maybe its
as i get older i enjoy things less and don't have the urge to watch movies again and again so my favorite movie probably is the latest thing i have seen. which would make it either:
no country for old men or the force awakens
United 93
what Greengrass did with no name actors and so close to the event in question, and to make an evenhanded film about a very raw subject was nothing short of astonishing. I've always been a sucker for films about everyday people caught up in the consequences of things that were not their fault.
Back to the future.
The Burb's
Spaceballs
Glengarry Glen Ross-Alan Alda's character bugs me but literally everyone else did career best work. An honest film about men and about how men talk when they are on the edge.
Paths of Glory-Kubrick's best film, not a shot wasted.
The Bourne Supremacy-the best "spy" movie ever made
The Breakfast Club-The best film to take place over a 24hr period
The Matrix-my favorite action film.
The Social Network-Fincher's best film, and it's not close. And he's made lots of good movies.
...
Deer hunter. I tried showing it to my brother and he was on his phone the whole time and he was like "lmao when's da fighting n shit?"
i've probably seen it 10 times
Goodfellas
>Now That's What I Call Quirky
Manhattan
Star Wars Episode V
This glorious movie will forever be my favorite. I watch it every few years because I like to keep it special.
What are you twelve?
What I tell people really is my favorite movie.. And that is Yi Yi by Edward Yang.
I've watch it three times maybe, but that's enough to know it has a s unique place in my heart.
God you've said so little but I already know you're a fucking douchebag

terminator 2
watched it as a kid and i have never grown tired of it. i watch it at least once a year. it's just a fun ride.

The Goonies.

>watched it every christmas with my family since I was a kid
>can quote almost the whole thing
>mom cries every time at the end

It's pleb but I love Goodles Will Hunting aND I also really like that movie Warrior with Tom Hardy.
I also unironically love the movie enemy with Jake Gyllenhaal for the theme and the atmosphere
Tokyo Drifter
Probably Mary and Max
On a side note, I've show it to over 50 different people and all of them loved it
unironically, the movie i get the most enjoyment out of watching is mary poppins
that film raised me
Adaptation or Fantastic Mr. Fox. I wouldnn't even hide these if I were asked.

Deer Hunter and Apocalypse now for me.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4

Deep Red
What was wrong with Alan Arkin? He played the downtrodden loser perfectly, and it worked well with Harris' dominant personality.
watched it the other day, really hard hitting moments, loved it
Must've seen it thousands of times.
I grew up with this movie and watched it on a daily basis for years, sometimes even two or three times a day.
Or even more often, I seriously watched the shit out of that VHS. I still watch it every now and then, it's always on my HDD and will never be deleted.
The OST was the very first music CD I bought with my own money.
I love this movie. To this day, when I hear "America", I instantly think about this movie just because it made me love America back then. All those cool cars, broad roads filled with all kinds of people, the music, the whole attitude. We don't have this kind of shit.
La grande bellezza. I almost never rewatch films but this is the only one i've seen more than twice.
It has an air of pretentiousness but I still love it.
My nigger, came here to post this
Blade Runner

Ultimo Mondo Cannibale (1977)
Emanuelle And The Last Cannibals (1977)
Why are you so insecure? Can't you be manly and have feelings at the same time?
Blade Runner. The atmosphere is so good I can rewatch it once a week and still enjoy it.
Yeah, I think Sorretino now knows he's talented and shoves it in your face. But La Grande Bellezza is one of my favorites too. Such a beautiful movie.
I must've watched the tenacious D movie like 50 times desu.

Knight of Cups might be in contention though once I get around to rewatching.
